Hello, we make it position specific like this so the user knows where to strengthen, if a player came saying the 'defence is weak' the user wouldn't know which position they need to strengthen in to placate the players.

In this example all 3 of your tactics use a RWB but you have only 1 player that can play the role (Yildirim) and he's not very good and there is no backups or other players in that position, so the players are right to be worried.

Understand what you're saying but I still don't think it's realistic. My team was on a great run of form and way above it's expected position in the table. Not having enough depth at right wing back should not be the reason for a "full blown dressing room revolt".

If players were just concerned, a little worried, I'd understand. Instead, this tiny detail resulted in the morale of my team drastically changing.

  2. Were defending throw ins part of the update? I'm still conceding lots of goals that start from a throw in, usually a short throw. Can't tell if my defenders have really poor positioning or if it's still an issue.

  3. It's the phrase "I believe this would make us more compact and difficult to break down".

Having a lower line of engagement would make your team more compact and difficult to 'Break down'. In fact, I think this exact phrase is used when describing reasoning behind a low defensive line.

I don't see how shorter passing makes a team more difficult to 'break down'. You don't 'break down' a team that's in possession. You 'break down' the defending team.

I can understand how a team with short passing will be more compact if they lose the ball, perhaps making them less susceptible to counter attacks. At the same time, shorter passing could encourage overplaying, making them more susceptible to counter attacks.

Does this appear reappear on the default skin?

Yep, same outcome on the default skin, every game. I've only seen the following recommendations in the dugout (not word for word)...

I recommend playing for set pieces...
We need to close down **** as he's getting is some dangerous crosses
    I recommend asking **** to man-mark ****
We need to tight mark ****, he's getting too much space
    Substitution recommendations
Information on the opposition playing wider/narrower or more attacking/defensive

The dugout seems to pick up on opposition instructions and the odd  team instruction but never gives feedback for a specific player.

On a side note (probably more of a feature request), it would be great to see 'failed dribbles' as well as dribbles. I think one of the main reasons wingers receive low ratings is because they lose possession. The 'lost possession' stat is hidden away in the analytics and you can only view this at half time, however there's no way of knowing how a player has lost possession (through failed dribble, poor pass, poor first touch etc.)

  5. This is a bit backwards but I've had a lot of luck playing with inverted wingers and inside forwards on the side of their preferred foot. For example... a right footed inside forward playing AMR or left footed inside forward AML.

It appears that players are much more comfortable shooting across goal when they are on the side of their preferred foot. Not particularly realistic but if you're trying to get the best out of your inside forward or inverted winger, give it a go. :)

This sounds like it could make a good feature request, but it isn't a bug so our QA team can't be of too much help on this front. If you post out your idea here: Football Manager Feature Requests (PC/Mac) - Sports Interactive Community (sigames.com) along with the benefits and how you think it could/should best be implemented then it can in turn be reviewed by the appropriate staff and dev team as an idea.

I wouldn't say it's really a feature request, I think it's an oversight as this wasn't an issue in previous FM's.

It makes zero sense for for opposition instructions to be set to apply to individual players by default.

Every single game I have to change this. Wouldn't it make much more sense for me to change opposition instructions only if I'm coming up against a specific player?

Completely get where you're coming from jdmk, the whole aim of the Beta stage is to spot last minute issues and have them resolved for release. It isn't always possible given the complexity of certain issues and unfortunately this one falls under that bracket - a fix for this could have had continuous knock on effects that would've caused more harm than good. We couldn't take any chances with something quick.

However, myself nor any staff are at liberty to discuss publicly when an update will be released I'm afraid. I realise that's frustrating, if I could tell you the exact date and time you're going to notice this bug being resolved I absolutely would. But by releasing that information to the public I'd be putting unnecessary pressure on the Dev team, and if there were any last minute setbacks then I'd be upsetting the community even further if we couldn't stick to the timeframe.

I'm am genuinely really sorry but for now I can only thank everyone so far for their patience so far, and ask that they hold out just a little longer.

Appreciate the honest response and I look forward to seeing these updates in the newly released patch.

A 6.3 would largely just be performing average. While the game does have a player rating system keep in mind that there are no universal rules for player ratings across the sport. There's no fixed boundaries but in FM terms anything below a 6.0 is an indicator of a bad game and anything above a 7.0 is indicator of a decent game (progressively getting better as the number increases). If you feel there are instances where a player is doing well but getting low ratings we can take a look into that specifically but we would need a pkm for that. A guide on how to upload files is available here: How to Add PKMs, Rec Files and Crash Dumps Files to Posts - Instructions and Notes - Sports Interactive Community (sigames.com)

I can't agree on this and there is a lot of evidence to suggest otherwise. For example, coaches and media seem to recognise 'poor form' as anything below 6.6. Same goes for fans and the board being disappointed with player performances under the 'club vision' tab, again if form is below 6.6.

RE. "If you feel there are instances where a player is doing well but getting low ratings we can take a look into that specifically but we would need a pkm for that". This isn't really my issue, I'm not questioning the ratings as such, more so I need more information with regards to why players receive ratings.

It goes back to my initial point...how can you improve a players performance if you're not aware of what they're doing wrong? I think simply adding the 'mistakes' stat to the player stats would be a big help, also the 'possession lost' stat. These stats are far too difficult to find given their importance.

Hi, the evaluation takes into account the following parameters:

    - Final result, Did you lose the match?
    - Player in the game, I only see about 20 passes, too little to give a more than sufficient evaluation.
    - Who was the opponent?
    - How did the opponent who had to mark play?

Ignore the second screenshot, I could not amend the post.

The rating I am referring to is in the first screenshot.

    - The final result effects the ratings of all players, so this doesn't really tell me why Jota received a lower rating
    - Jota had 74 passes (98%)
    - I play 5 at the back so they do not have set players to mark.

Would like not be made easier if you could see how many mistakes a player made through 'player statistics' at half/full time? Or even better, if there was a short summary explaining how the player did.

On the subject of mistakes...when you criticise a players performance, one of the options is 'you made too many mistakes in the last game'. However, it's not possible to see this stat, so how can one decide if this is the correct choice of criticism?

I don't quite understand what you're advocating for here. There's two situations - either a) I mark it down as a known issue without any further thought which would be a bit disingenuous at this stage or b) I provide information so that the original poster can give us resources to work with and time to further expand upon their concerns.

The original fix for this issue was that the OP go to the tactics forum. I guess I'm just a little bit annoyed at the lack of ownership when it comes to clear and obvious issues with the game. The initial screenshot from the OP shows a clear issue with this game. Has a team had 63% possession and lost 6-0 in the history of football?

I think a lot of players would appreciate some transparency with regards to this possession bug as it's preventing a lot of us from playing. This bug was brought up in the Beta stage, it was acknowledged and nothing has been implemented. It would be nice to be given a timeframe for the fix because it's one of those bugs that really prevents you from getting into the game once you've noticed it.

This is something related with possession in AI with lower mentality and something off in terms of calculation. SI marked as known issue and will receive a fix. Pressing is working ok (need some further tweak IMHO). Pressing alteration is something new this year and it's working better - more realistic.

Unfortunately this has nothing to do with mentality and it's not just the AI. I'm in a relegation battle in my save and dominate all of the big teams when it comes to possession. I play on a positive or balanced mentality. I just lost 6-0 to Benfica whilst keeping 66% of possession.

There is a bug about weaker teams having a high possession yes. I'm not denying that is an issue for a moment. But in regards to your specific team not having possession, that isn't immediately a bug and we do have to operate on the information you provide to us. If you notice, I updated this to Need More Info because I also wouldn't just look to pass it off as the issue we know about without more details.

Please put some thought into this. You state "there is a bug about weaker teams having high possession"...

He is playing as Liverpool therefore the majority of teams he plays are 'weaker teams'.

Just to be extremely clear - there's a massive difference between something being 'noticed' or found during testing and being able to make changes to it in such a way that it both addresses any issue, and doesn't cause problems or imbalance the engine elsewhere.

If it's noticed in testing, maybe consumers should be made aware before making a purchase. It's the equivalent of purchasing a damaged product...

I pre-ordered this year and have had 4 hours playtime...had to stop after bottom of the league held me to a 0-0 draw keeping 62% possession (practically keeping the ball in their defensive third).
