I was talking about plaer/role training. Better leave it by default and add some additional focus?

I see what you are saying.  I think a similar principle applies to the Player Role.  When you select the player role you will see the attributes that will be worked upon if your training impacts individual roles.  This way, as another reply in the thread stated, you can ensure the player is developing the attributes you want him to develop.

So it's better just leave on default and just select the aditional focus just in case i want to focus on some attributes?

I am not an expert, but I would always have a player doing some additional focus.  This way you can hone in on skills they need.  For example, you may have a Box-to-Box Midfielder that could improve his passing, or a Forward that has phenomenal finishing but is a bit slow given the competition and thus you may want to improve his quickness.  There is always something they should be working on to give you their peak performance.  To make sure to avoid burnout, you can set intensity to automatic so that the more tired a player is, the lower the intensity of their additional training.

This is what I am seeing thus far.

And you should note that no training sessions focus more than 20% on the roles.

There are some sessions like Attacking/Defensive Shadow Play that focus 60% on the attacking or defensive unit. However, they address more than just roles.

So you can't rely on just role training. You still need team or unit sessions.

Ground/Arial Defending and Chance Conversion/Creation are great sessions for role training. Combine them with Attacking/Defensive Shadow Play on the same day. They are also light workload sessions.

It's about taking the time to balance the training sessions and tailor them to your needs. There are sessions that address different aspects.

So this is why I also need to use the team sessions, correct?  They will ensure complete coverage.  So, it also seems the two (team sessions and individual training) work in tandem, correct?

    Thanks

    Yes and yes.

With individual role training all you are really doing is targeting a set of attributes.  So if you wanted to improve a DLP's tackling for example there is no reason why you couldn't give him role training of a BWM for a while.  Likewise if you like all the targeted attributes for a DLP then train him as a DLP, if you get my drift.

Other attributes outside of those roles may still improve as well (due to general training or natural progression) but the focus should be on the role training.

This is awesome to know.  Thanks!

It's great to be able to target a player's development with laser-like precision.

  5. Greetings,

When it says on a training card that the Attributes are Individual Roles, does that mean that whatever individual training I have the player set to  (e.g. Center Back on Stopper and additional focus of Quickness training) those related attributes will be trained upon?  So attributes related to his role of Center Back on Stopper and Quickness will be trained upon in that session?

A related question, so it seems I can use the individual roles to more target their development and thus not have to rely on general training sessions to target these attributes.  Correct?

    Thanks

  6. Greetings,

On some players their current ability and/or potential will have some stars as White instead of not being there.  What does that mean?

Also, does the binoculars on a scouted player indicate the percent scouted by the scout?  Like if the bar by the binoculars seem to be about 30 percent filled, does that mean that the scout is 30% of the way towards completing his scouting on the player?  Does that also mean the rating may change significantly once he finishes scouting the player?

    Thanks

  7. It's hard for me to tell who is the loaning club that will be paying a portion of the players salary.  I have a loan offer for one of my players who club wants to take out on loan.  They say the loaning club will pay 60% of salary.  Are they saying my club, the club loaning the player out to the other club, will be paying 60% of his salary?  Or are they saying that the club who made the loan offer to my club will be paying 60% of the player's salary?

  8. So, this is the second time this has happened to me.  After the end of my second pre-season friendly the game just stays stuck on the screen with the continue button where the camera simply pans different views of the pitch.  Is this a bug?  This is the second time it has happened.  I can't stand this because now this is the second time I have played this game and you know a lot of work goes into it.

I keep pressing the "Continue" button and nothing seems to help.  What can I do about this?

    Thanks

For me is even worse, as to get fully immersed in my game, when I take over a team I also research a lot in internet about it.

I read the Wikipedia about the team, about the city, search for articles about the tactics used in the current or last season, search for articles about the players, visit social media and forums about the team, etc.

So when I start playing, I’m almost a fan of the team in real life.

I have started a save now with Crewe Alexandra and I’m already a fan of the team and I bet I know more about it that some long time fans and can discuss about the lineups etc in fan forums.

That's good to know.  I might do that for my Stoke City save.

That was my beta burner save where I already knew the squad relatively well. In that time I played the intra-squad friendly and one pre-season friendly. (Admittedly, I play full matches, so that'd be around three hours of game time.)

How do you play full matches?  Is that a setting where you choose the type (e.g. Comprehensive, etc.) of highlights to see?

I spend several days sorting out the UI, the team, my staff, finding players, sorting out tactics etc etc. Once that is finished, I start playing the actual game. There are no shortcuts to become the best manager in the world and the sooner you get on board with this fact, the easier life will be for you.

Increasingly, I am looking at more details - like the team report to inform my decisions.

As someone who works on the game (research), I am one of the slowest FMers you will find.

I spend HOURS on all that stuff, especially as I nearly always play as a team I don't know in a country I am not familiar with the player names and the data.  But even when I do play a save in England, I still take ages looking at everyone's U23 teams (for possible loans) etc., as well as working out who each of my first-team and U23s are (not so much the U18s, but I do check them out briefly).

To be honest, it's the bit I enjoy the most.

    Enjoy your Stoke save!

As someone who came over from FIFA/PES, I at first used to think the most important thing was when the players were playing on the field.  Slowly I began to realize that everything is "the game".  So even something like spending an entire afternoon on individual training feels rewarding.

My usual play through consists of setting everything up for 5 hours, smashing all the friendlies, losing first competitive game of the season, scrapping everything, and crying myself to sleep.

    😂😂😂😂😂

  10. So, now that I have a much better understanding of the game, I just started a Stoke City save which will be my long-term save.  I am finding myself spending a few hours reviewing the players, staff, tactics and toying around with things before I even advance one day - 😳😀.  I am literally still on the first day.  Is that normal?  I am wondering if everyone else does that.  On YouTube you often see folks change a few things then they are off onto the first game.

  11. Greetings good people,

I have a box-to-box midfielder.  The game has him in the defensive unit.  There apparently is no midfield unit.  So, how do I decide whether he goes into the attacking or defensive units?  Is it based on what I want him to do the most?  Can I create another unit?

    Thanks

BTW: The game seems really awesome this year.  I am loving it.
