  1. About the same. Players won't cross unless there's someone near them, so that they can boot it straight into their shins. It has to be a ME problem, there is no set of instructions that stops this (and even if there was, why should I have to completely change tactics just to fix a match engine problem)
  2. The fact that players refuse to cross if they are open. Pick someone out in the middle? Nah, I'll wait 5 for the fullback who's 30 yards away to close me down then boot it into his shins. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
  3. I mean, Messi has 20 dribbling and finishing. And passing. And technique. And agility. And balance. And decisions. And determination. And flair. And vision You get my point. There are many with 20, but that's supposed to be pretty much perfection. Ramos has 20 heading, Neymar and Hazard have 20 dribbling, Quaresma has 20 crossing, Ederson has 20 kicking A bunch of defenders like Ramos, Chiellini, Zabaleta, Wan-Bissaka all have at least 18 tackling so your information is wrong anyway.
  4. Create a league full of players who are all 20 in attacking attributes and all 1 in defensive attributes, then see if you only get 1-0 and 2-0 scorelines. If you don't, then that proves your limitation theory wrong.
  5. You don't have to change your tactics based on this information, it might just give you an idea. Typically I use that information to see where they are most dangerous attacking and see if I can indentify any weakness in my squad that would allow them to exploit that. But I might only make a change once every 5 games or so because of it and those changes might be very small things
  6. I try to make my own because it makes me more likely to try and adapt it. If I download one I feel like the tactic is already finished and expect it to work, whereas with my own I'm starting from the basics so am more inclined to change things up. Still on FM18 but alternating between a 4-2-3-1 and a 5-1-2-2 DM WB right now, loving it
  7. Yes by default those things happen to an extent, that's why one of the options is "Never" for things like marking (or at least that's what it was on FM18), so you want to mark them less than normal Some examples of when you'd want to use them is a tall but slow target man, you'd mark them constantly because there isn't much risk of them running in behind your defence. Someone with good long shots you may want to close down as soon as they get the ball because once they receive it, the biggest risk to your goal is their shot. Weaker foot would be specifically for players who for example only ever run down the wing to cross it, if they're not good on their weak foot you don't have to worry about them cutting in and using the other foot. But yeah it's not actually necessary to ever use them, because all of the marking/closing down/show onto weak foot is done to an extent normally, you can just use OIs if there is a specific player you want to do them more/less to. It's important to not overuse them too because for example showing a winger onto their weak foot does leave you quite vulnerable to an underlap where they can just play a pass with their weak foot, because you're leaving them space to do so
  8. Dude you need to accept that the match engine does not take into account whether you are AI or human. If you use editors you can see that managers have hidden attributes which sum up their style of play, like how direct they are, what tempo they use etc, because the game then creates their tactics based on that. So the match engine uses the same information for both human players and AI players, and cannot tell the difference If smaller teams tend to do better against you then you're not setting up correctly against them, simple as
  9. Yep, this is the only time that it happens, when they're actually in a good position to shoot and the teammate is further behind
  10. Any press conference to do with things like "Goalkeeper has been on a good run of clean sheets recently" etc always get answered with the boring response which is equivalent to just ignoring the question, as any other response is guaranteed to jinx it
  11. High line is possible to play if you get it right in terms of tactics and personnel. I play a high line press and have conceded 12 goals in 33 games in the premier league. Yes, 1-on-1s are still broken, but for now try and plan around it. Play a way that doesn't create 1-on-1 opportunities. You shouldn't have to do that, but if they aren't working then you don't really have much choice
  12. For me in the prem only teams that play 2 strikers manage to get strikers to score. Goals as a whole are very limited, no teams above 2 goals per game. Wingers seem to be top scorers for teams that play 1 striker
  13. But I can literally pick any tactic and the opposition still aren't trying to play, that's what I mean. I'm deliberately messing up my tactics yet nothing is changing.
  14. It's a bit strange but my problem seems to be that the game is far too easy. The other team let my players run straight past them and don't seem to ever actually press, wingers end up free in so much space, and when the other team get the ball they just stand there with it until either I tackle them and counter, or they just punt it up the pitch and give it back to me I thought I just somehow created an OP tactic but it's nothing special, just a pretty regular wide 433. But I've actually removed all my player instructions, made my team stop pressing so highly and things like this just to try and get the other team to actually play, yet they don't do anything!! Like as I type this I'm in a game against Granada (I am Real Hispalis) and first half winning 3-0 and the other team had 1 shot 0 on target. Last game was AWAY TO ATLETICO and I was 2-0 up in about 20 mins, changed to Cautious just to try and invite them to attack me, they managed to actually get some shots away by the end of the game but wasn't threatening much. Why is this happening?!?! It's not the tactic because I even switched it to a 4411 and 4231 just to see if somehow the tactic was broken even though all the instructions were removed. It's not my management because I'm literally just sending players out and don't even need to study the other team. It's not my players because Real Hispalis have quite an average squad really. I was managing Arsenal before on another save and the same thing was happening, it was so so easy to win every game and I don't want this, I want a challenge and I'm not getting one, I really don't understand EDIT: as a test, I set a new tactic 4231 with ZERO team instructions and ZERO player instructions, on Balanced mentality. I also changed player roles, like I was using winger before so I changed to inside forward. Was using CM(A) and BBM so changed to BWM and DLP. Just changing everything possible so I know it's not tactic related in any way. Game was away to Bilbao. Half time? Winning 3-0 and other team has had no shots on target, still not marking, still not pressing, still not going forward when they get the ball. I don't understand. Changed to 5212 for the second half of that Bilbao game just for something random, still no instructions whatsoever, random roles, they only manage one shot on target in the whole game and it ended 4-0
