In FM terms, how would you say this works, just out of interest?  What do you mean by 4-3-3 and what would your solution be?  In FM terms, Saka and Martinelli are definitely wide players, not strikers and Odegaard definitely plays further forward than Partey and Xhaka, with Xhaka playing further forward in general than Partey.  How would you represent this?  The default FM formation 4-3-3 DM Wide or something else?

Odegaard and Xhaka are both 8s. It’s a 433 dm wide

Tierney - don't think this is warranted, it is just the role he plays for Arsenal.  If he was playing in a back three, or had been instructed to play as a defensive full back, he wouldn't look to constantly get forward.  I don't think the tendency outweighs his level of discipline for playing a requested role, put another way.

Partey and Saliba - probably fair of Partey so I'll add that.  Not really seen enough of Saliba to determine whether this is something he would do in situations where he has been specifically instructed not to.  Similar to the above, this is just the system Arsenal generally play, to play the ball out of defence.

Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel - Gabriel already has this PPM, which was something inherited from his time in France, but I think it's fair enough to keep it as he does whack the occasional aimless ball out for a goal kick.  Not going to add it for Tomiyasu and White, don't think it is merited.

Lokonga - not seen enough of him to determine whether this is a natural tendency or just the role he was playing in the team at the time, where he would naturally collect the ball deep.

Jesus - don't agree with this.  His movement is good, so he will often find such space in the right moment, but I would say his play is more rounded than this to be something he is constantly looking to do.

White hits long balls all the time. Especially over the top to Saka. Did the same last season. 78 percentile for switches (balls over 40  yards) and 75 percentile for long balls according to fbref https://fbref.com/en/players/35e413f1/scout/365_m1/Ben-White-Scouting-Report

Saliba - watch Arsenal’s 3rd goal vs Brentford and see what he does in the build up. He always plays his way out of trouble. he even dribbles more than a cb should (Arteta commented the same to carragher in his Monday night football interview) Will almost never look to go long unless absolutely necessary.

    agreed on the rest

Hello, there won't be any more attribute adjustments as the database is locked now for such changes until the winter update.  That said, I don't agree.  Saliba is 21 and is still developing.  While he may play in a generally composed manner, especially for a player his age, he has scored avoidable own goals and given the ball away under pressure at points this season.  A rating of 13, with his PA as it is, gives him room to develop, as he quite obviously to me, is still doing.  He is not a complete defender yet despite his strong start to this season.  16 is too high for composure at this stage.  I could have perhaps set it at 14, but as I've said before we're not really after marginal attribute quibbles, though I do appreciate this is a discussion thread and you have backed up your opinion with links to analysis.

Gabriel has 14 composure and has made way more errors under pressure than Saliba, not only this season, but also last.   Do you think Gabriel is more composed comparatively to Saliba. I don’t really think anyone can come to that conclusion.

Potentially a fair point about Jesus' finishing.  But this definitely highlights the dangers of making changes too early after a transfer.  I had received Jesus from the Man City researcher and made some changes, but not sweeping changes to his attributes, as I had to trust his analysis, despite the fact I'd seen him play in the context of the Arsenal system in a few games.  I did however raise his finishing as he banged in a stack of goals in pre-season and carried this form into the start of the league campaign.  We've missed having a striker who could actually score goals for a while and his finishing did look consistently very good in these games.  Obviously in recent matches (all since my AR deadline) he's not scored, but that's just how form happens sometimes.  On reflection I should probably have been a little more conservative with the finishing attribute.  I'll give him a full review in the new year, having had over half a season of watching him every week.

Thanks. Anything on Saka's strength? 9 seems very low. He dominates full backs physically

  5. Arsenal fan here - Jesus 16 finishing is far too high for someone who underperformed his xg by 20 goals at city and is underperforming his xg again at arsenal. Would suggest 13 or even 12 in an ideal world. Also an argument for his composure to be lowered instead.

That should be balanced by increasing his dribbling to 17 (always goes on a mazy run in almost every game), acceleration and pace to 16 (very quick over the first 5 yards especially). Aggression to 15 (he’s an absolute nuisance and his stats should reflect the fact he’s the embodiment of what a pressing forward should be). Determination of 13 is also low (he never gives up in a game and is relentless). Bravery increase to 15

the game presents him as a clinical advanced forward which is quite far away what he is in real life so he needs quite a bit of changing imo. His stats should be more reflective a pressing forward which is essentially what he is.

It's so ridiculous that it is only need to compare Ronaldo with own his teammates. He's only a better dribbler than Varane, Phil Jones and the goalkeepers. Check the stats of these guys that are above Ronaldo

If he doesn't do long runs like before, just use the ppm "runs with ball rarely". But there is no reason to give an 11 to one of the best dribblers ever.

Ronaldo isn’t one of the best dribblers ever

Is Saka that strong? Or does he use his balance, agility and anticipation in combination with what strength he has to retain the ball under physical pressure and position his body in the best way to protect it which leads to him being able to fend off an opponent? Not always as simple as just "increase his strength!".

Yes defenders literally bounce of him

Saka in-game has higher mental and physical attributes than the current PL Golden Boot winner who was also 11th in Ballon d'or voting.
    He's not underrated.

Rightfully so if you’ve watched both players. The reason son is so good is because of his ridiculous shooting (deserves 19/20 finishing to be honest). Tbf Saka’s stats are fairly accurate barring  his strength

Hei, these are just some feedback after finishing the season with Arsenal, making no transfers. I'm a big Arsenal fan and watch all their matches.

I enjoyed it and it seems farily realistic, even though many thinks Arsenal are underrated compared to real life. In FM, Arsenal have alot of young players that will develop as you play. So the team will get stronger as the season come to an end. I finished 4th, and had some big injuries, most notably missed Ramsdale for half a season. But there is an argument to boosting Arsenal a little (and downrate Liverpool).

Ramsdale is too good and Matt Turner should be better. In real life (RL), Ramsdale has the "bozo gene" (together with Gabriel and Xhaka). He can make great saves, but can lose his head any minute. He is not a world class keeper, his decision making to rush out or not is average. The same for his presence in the box on corners and free kicks.

Matt Turner has performed relly well in all his games. In game he is terrible (so if you get Ramsdale injured you are in trouble). Surely this merits an upgrade? I would compare him to the disrespect Martinez got while he was second to Leno (while actually being a better goalkeeper). Turner is the opposite to Ramsdale, in that he is very calm (has a calming presence) and intelligent.

Saka is too good. At the end of the season he has developed into a monster. I sold him to City for 125m pounds. He is a really good player, but in reality his mentals should be much lower (maybe also boost his physicals). Together with Ramsdale, he has not shown world class level yet, and if you speak about those players to other non-arsenal fans they would not at all rate those to near that level.

Xhaka and Partey are underrated. Xhaka has matured alot these last two seasons, there are no one who would deny this. Partey is one of Arsenals most important players, his stats show this. Without him Arsenal win rate is less than 50%! Their mentals should be increased alot. Xhaka has 10 in positioning. His creativity should be lowered and his positioning increased considerably. While his concenstration is not the best, his decisions are great. His determination cannot be questioned either. His tackling is poor in real life, even though he is a physical player.

Ødegaard is slightly too good. The problem with him his whole career is that his bravery and strength is terrible. Sure, he presses alot, but he has no physical presence. Vieira is even worse. Both should have even lowered bravery, strength (and tackling).

I have no big problems with any other players, they are really working well! A steller job to the researchers!

Nelson is fine, unlike what many thinks. He is a great talent that never developed because he never got to play consistent games. The same with Nketiah (only his strength should be a bit higher).

My last point is economy. Arsenal's wage budget surely must be higher than in game. They have gotten rid of many top earners (Auba, Øzil etc). In game they are too much behind the top clubs in wage budget to compete (unless you adjust drastically the transfer budget into wages).

Saka is actually underrated so not sure how you’ve come to the conclusion that he’s too good. 9 strength is terribly low his mentals are is his strongest attribute which matches how he plays plays irl.

Arsenal would also never sell him for lower than 100m so your price sounds fairly realistic. Also you can’t really name 5 better right wingers than him in the world right now. He’s very fairly rated

No need for that.  Odegaard's leadership was an error that I had already noticed and asked to be corrected and will be changed for the full release.  Mistakes happen and I apologise that I have made one there.  The other, as with most opinions on individual attributes, is very subjective and I think 11 is fine as a rating.  Finishing is far from the only attribute that feeds into ability to score goals, both in FM and in real life.

Any more attributes that are clearly mistakes I would welcome being raised, thanks to yourself and the other poster for raising the Odegaard issue, but as we say every year, please try not to quibble about 1 or 2 point shifts in attributes even if in your own opinion you are certain you are correct.

EDIT: I just properly read the original post and I can see now this is a discussion thread.  New tactic from @Ed Hewison haha!  Feel free to quibble all you like then as long as its good natured and the expectation isn't that we'll make any minor changes to individual attributes.

Smith rowe out performed his xg by 5 in 21/22 and outperformed again in 20/21 in limited minutes by almost 2. Every metric suggests he’s a well above average finisher
