  1. I'm nominated as part of this group? Did three get selected by committee and then you let @Gizzy shamble in the fourth?

I've got to go with Jason, really. I know it's odd voting for a tweet-posting bot in this but it's a choice between two such or a Brazil-sensing bot.

Wait, does that mean I win by virtue of being the only actual human being in contention? :D

  2. As it is stickied in the Football Forum, so shall it be stickied here:

Do not ask or provide any information on such sites on these forums please. In future anyone who does will be infracted in accordance with the site rules.

    Asking for streams:

    1st offence - A week long ban

    2nd offence - A two week ban

    Providing streams:

    1st offence - A week long ban

    2nd offence - A two week ban

Please note that these bans assume a clean infraction history. If you've already had a week long ban when you receive an infraction for this then you'll automatically be bumped up to the next ban which is two weeks.

  3. Didn't actually mean you'd need group approval for everything. Darned work forcing me to rush through writing and not thinking clearly :D

Say the game would be in country X, we would be managing team Y (we all have in the past, logical starting point). The save is posted and the group would have a discussion on what formation is thought to be best at the time. This would include preferred starting line-up and players for the future from the reserve/youth squads. This should give 11-15 names in the first team which players want to keep. A bid for them would have to be agreed by the group (majority) while others are fair play to sell.

It could also be done ahead of time, agreeing a reasonable price for the first team players.

I think a game like this could really benefit those who are playing as it ought to expand our knowledge of the game and get us new ideas. At least I learned a whole lot about civ4 through reading such games as the players were offering their view on what was happening and discussing what ways would be best.

Of course discretion is given to the player in charge at the time as long as it's not clearly against the will of the others in the group. Even then we have a save from a few months back and the offender can be kicked out :D (almost joking..)

  4. New idea:

A succession game. Read a lot of these on the civfanatics forum for civ4 and am thinking whether it would be a viable idea for FM as well.

Basically I am thinking of having 4-6 players playing one career in unison. Each player would play 1-3 months at a time and then hand the save over to the next player. It is very similar to the monkies/southies game but this would differ in two ways: Shorter playing time, meaning it could at times be less than a week between your turns and more group involvement. All transfers and the like must be put to the group for decicion.

    Anyone have comments on this?

  5. You've just made your experiment excpetionally interesting to me :D Keep with Iceland, it should be easy enough to make variables there. Keep the league rep (5/20 iirc) and increase the rep of the teams, do it the other way around, make them rich with low rep. Just go wild, every value for the league and the teams are low to start with so you don't have to change everything around each time

  6. Might actually make the draw in such a way that each pair gets one dance but if they really don't want to do it they could get another random draw and only score 75% or something along those lines. Might also be a great idea as you say to have one do top flight and the other lower league, or one do club and the other international. Would possibly be getting some ideas now if I wasn't at work and if my head wasn't on the verge of explosion :thdn:

  7. Was thinking maybe 7-9 days for the completion of the season (or competition if national team) and then voting for a day. What I am trying to figure out now is exactly how to incorporate teamwork within each pair. Whether it ends up being 2 different objectives for each partner or maybe even one partner doing a club and the other a national team or some other solution.

Now, it's not always going to be a different country for each dance, might even be in a country not relating to the dance at all, that is all to be decided. Luckily I have a month and a half to figure that part out :D What I'd like to get done before the new year is to figure out how each dance will be rated, give those who would be interested a chance to try them out and submit an entry.

EDIT: forgot to answer your question :D you would play a season (or a competition) and then get points for fulfilling the criteria, no points for not completing the objectives

  8. I've just had a MASSIVE idea :D and a great way to include female managers, teamwork and a long term competition

So, the basic idea is taken from the tv series "So you think you can dance". The general idea is that auditions will be open until the end of january where people will submit one (or more) game that fits the description of one of the dances given. After the auditions we will have (hopefully) 20 players that will take part, at least it will start with an even number of participants.

They will then be divided into two groups, one will be male and the other female.

Every week I will draw pairs at random, this pair will then have a week to each complete the dance they are randomly given. Each dance will have different objectives for the pair to complete. Based on the score they accumulate we will have a bottom 2/3 pairs, they will face a vote from the other members of the board as to who goes home. In effect, the points represent the votes of tv viewers and the vote from the members represent the judges choice.

Each dance will come to represent different challenges, for example:

Samba will be to play the beautiful game in a beautiful way in Brazil, might even be with the national team. Scores will be awarded for (amongst others) keeping a goals scored average of over 2.5 and yellow cards <1

Tango will be to play passionate football in Argentina. It will be high tempo with lots of tackles. Points will be awarded for having more than x tackles per game and.. erm.. something else :D

Anyone think this would work? And if so, anyone willing to help me in getting this put together for the new year? Would like auditions to open early january so they could be open for approximately a month. (Hope I haven't made a mess of explaining this :D)
