  1. What do you mean by 'full competence'? If it's the color of the circle next to his role, it has no effects on how he plays, it's just a visual representation of the attributes needed for that role according to the game, but we all know some of them are set wrong. Only you know what you want from your player, so judge his attributes from your point of view and not what the game says a regista needs.

My tuppence worth, after managing a dominant but Bala side last in 2019 (dominant but still abject), is that sometimes you need to back off to score in these types of games. If I didn't get a first half goal against a defensive team I would switch to a much deeper formation with counter and attacking duties. This would open the game up a bit and bring the opposition on to you more, enabling your better players to find space. Didn't always work though and would switch to Very Attacking for the last 10-15 if not. No idea if this would work at the higher echelons of the game as well

The theory is good, the ME can't replicate any style this year, only hoof ball and route one. It's like kindergarden football. Also, the defensive line it's always high, even if you set it on lower/much lower.

It's not a bug though, Sounds like he wants to handle contract negotiations for youngsters already at the club himself.

@bradconway go to Staff - responsibilities - Transfer and contract responsibilities - Contracts tab and take control of the 'play contracts for U19S' or whatever it is for your team.

Look at the pictures... The second one is with the HOYD responsibilities. He's only allowed to initiate player signings, which mean he will offer x amount of money for a player, but won't negotiate his contract. OP is in charge of contract negotiations for all squads (senior, u19, II team and III team).

You are quite right of course the attributes are very important, but I think the colour coded circles can be a useful approximation and use this information alongside the attributes for each player. I think my key point was really that I see loads of players with tactics set up poorly balanced, false nines here, mezzalas there, and players who can't play the position. If you want to play a certain tactic I think you should wait until you can either play the role well already, or have time to train your own players for the role. I would disagree that the green/red circles do nothing, I think they give you a good rough guide before delving deeper. I think most important is that you should have at least 1 decent tactic sorted well before you ever play a league game, using a few full matches to watch how it works.

You can train a player for 10 years on a role and he may never get a green circle. The only thing that matter is his his attributes. And of course you can't play a target man or a poacher as a F9. But you can play an attacking midfielder that has great playmaking attributes as a F9 and be really successful while the circle is yellow/orange. Please stop spreading false information.

Yes they do? The players decisions is better the greener the circle and role fits.

Nope. It's just a visual representation to give new players an idea about which rolesuit a player. Doesn't matter if it's full green or half orange. The only thing that matter are his attributes.

2  play all your best players in their best position. Sounds obvious, but my strongest starting 11 are all in their favoured roles. If my best cm is a deep lying playmaker, then my tactic for the season will have a dlp. Same for every position. Sounds easy, but how many of your players are in a role that's not 100 per cent suitable? I build my tactic entirely around the players I have, I don't try and shoehorn players into my tactic. You see it in real life too, it's so frustrating.

Green Circles don’t matter! They have no effect on the game and contain no useful information. Instead analyze attributes and choose based on them.

I have an editor that will unlock the Spanish Tercera, however the B-team I'm interested in is actually in the division right below that one (regional division).

Do you know if by unlocking Tercera, teams in the regional division will now be able to promote to it, since they're right below it?

Open that editor file and go to the regional divisions and make sure your B club is there. If it's not there, swap it with another club from the regional division, give it a performance boost and edit it to your liking. Then try and reload the game until your team promotes at the end of the first season.

Also, often times the B-team is not in the first non-playable league, but maybe in the one below that. So they would first need to get promoted to the first non-playable league, which I've never seen happen, before they could get promoted to the playable league. Maybe that's where the issue actually is?

Then they will never promote. I had a long save with a Spanish club on FM19, my B team never promoted. I gave them reputation 10000 with the editoe, put by best u23 players in the B team but nothing worked.

But. This year on FM20 I used the editor to add my B team to the last playable league. Or you can download a custom database and edit it by swapping your B team to another team.

Is there such a thing? Is there a team in world football who has an actual 'counter attacking tactic'?  I mean, there are teams who are good at counter attacking (Leicester in their PL winning season for example), and play to those strengths. But any tactic at its heart is designed to score more goals than the opposition. Even a tactic that concentrates on defence more than attack is still trying to find a way to win.

This is one of the reasons I'm glad SI changed that mentality from 'counter' to 'cautious', it was the most badly named mentality they ever had. All teams counter attack to some degree.

You know what I meant. When I talk about counter attacking, I don't talk about low mentalities.
