    No, not really...

I have three players that I'm looking at. I've amalgamated them into a bit of a mish-mash screenshot:

    6e69df425c69da2afad9d4742f1567f4.png

I have purposely removed positions and clubs because I want to solely look at the attributes I want for my wing-back and these three players all play in different positions - which is why I'm not looking at statistics right now. I know that Silgahi isn't completely scouted yet but I like what I see from the initial stuff. I'd love to hear what people think about these players and how they'd potentially fit in that roaming full back kind of role!

I like Joksimović the most for a marauding offensive wing-back. Those 17s for Composure and Off the Ball really speak to me for any attacking role. Granted, he's not the quickest, but he's also got the best Natural Fitness + Stamina combo out of those three. He'll be able to eat up a lot of minutes for you.

  2. If you haven't already done it, I would go ahead and buy Maiga. Osemene has two major advantages over Maiga--he's significantly better in the air and he has better Teamwork. But Maiga has a lot more major advantages over Osemene. On the physical side, Maiga has Osemene well beaten in speed, strength, Agility, and Balance; Maiga has much better Anticipation than Osemene; Maiga is a much better passer than Osemene; and unlike Osemene, Maiga might still have appreciable room to improve. Especially if you are turning towards using a higher line, I think Maiga is your guy. His Agility, Anticipation, and speed are all critical for snuffing out counterattacks when they do come, and he has high Concentration so he should generally be switched on to see them coming.

The key thing your screenshot doesn't say, of course, is what your scouts think of Maiga's Big Matches and Consistency, and if those are both poor he might not be worth it.

That's my (possibly belated) 2 cents anyway.

  3. I would have found it really hard to commit to leaving a club before I knew whether I'd brought them up or not. Can't imagine they wouldn't turn professional if you went up either, but I do see the worry about getting clobbered a league up. Also I suppose you are trying not to get too attached to any one club, and if you got Fribourg promoted that might start to feel like A Project that might derail your larger aims.

  4. For Aguero, I think it's the physicals and the extra couple points of Off the Ball and Technique that make him the superior in-game goalscorer, so I'm generally in agreement with you. The high Dribbling also probably helps Aguero get into better positions to score in-game and lose the ball less. Any role in game that asks Kane to dribble is not going to turn out particularly well, with his (relatively) mediocre Dribbling, Agility, and Balance.

It'll be interesting to see what changes, if any, the Spurs researcher makes for Kane. I know Son's been tuned upwards for FM21, which I think is fair. As I alluded to in my previous post, if researchers are given some kind of guidelines on how high players should go for CA, that might interact in a negative way with two-footedness. In order to fit someone like Kane or Son in, for instance, since two-footedness takes up CA, the researcher might have to knock down their other attributes a bit unfairly. I don't know, of course, that what I'm talking about here is actually what's going on, but I've suspected it about two-footed players for a while (not always fairly, though--I remember thinking Mkhitaryan got a raw deal in FM17 because of his two-footedness, but it looks like he didn't).

  5. As someone who watches Spurs every week, I don't think Kane's physical stats are massively off save Balance, where I agree with you he's had a bit of a rough ride of it. The trouble is that he's already extremely highly rated by CA, which is compounded by the strength of his weaker foot. Even adding just a point to most of his physicals and bringing his Balance up to 15 or 16 might push him higher than the researcher feels comfortable going--I know they have at least some vague guidelines about how high to go.

Interesting. I don't see him technical enough for a DLP role, but we will just have to see how he develops. I like my midfielders to be able to pass the ball, (even those who play on the right of the 2). but playmaker doesn't jump out at me initially.

Depends how much room he really has between his CA and his PA. If he's really a proper 3.5/4 star player, you could easily see his Passing, Vision, and Technique all increase by 4 at least. First Touch probably always likely to be a little lower of course. Also got quite good Decisions for a 16-year-old.

    Party Animal. Mar 2052

This is the 2nd time recently where (47a) Best (F.Det) * has been out on the razz and missed training. He's been our 1st choice for 3 seasons now and is very good, but I wonder if now might be the time to cash in on him and send him on his way, (although he is contracted for 4 more seasons).

We have some depth at GK right now and while I never usually rotate keepers, I have done so this season.

18yo (50b) Okoro (NED) (F.Det) is already above 21yo (47a) Best (F.Det) * in terms of CA, and it seems silly not to give him games when I am rotating the squad. His average rating is also better, despite the fact that he has no goals or assists to his name, and despite the fact that he's also obviously playing with poorer teams and against better opposition.

    Thoughts? :kriss:

At the moment I still think (47a) Best (F.Det) * is a better keeper and while things are tight with relegation I don't want to lose any 1st choice player as it could be the difference between relegation and staying up. I'm starting to accept that (47a) Best (F.Det) *'s days are numbers and (50b) Okoro (NED) (F.Det) is the future, (and to that end he currently has a 2+3 contract, but I don't want to lose both of them and must plan for the future.

It also needs to be mentioned that while (47a) Best (F.Det) * has scored 2 free-kicks this season, he's also missed all 3 penalties he has taken.

I know your quick-and-dirty way of assessing a goalkeeper is to look at the top three numbers on the left, but my way is actually to look at Positioning, Reflexes, and One on Ones.  By that measure, Akoro is appreciably ahead of Best (13-15-13 to 13-13-11). He's also got significantly better Handling. They're pretty close on mentals, though Best edges it there by virtue of his superior Composure, and on physicals, although Best has the Agility edge.

I'd probably swap them and play Akoro over Best right now, especially if Akoro is the one with the future with the club.

Championship. We had a really good last few months of the season but unfortunately it wasn't enough to close the gap to the Playoffs that we allowed to open in our winless December. We finished 6 points off the Playoffs.

Wow. Birmingham shipped 100 goals? Tremendous.

Although I note you're not too far off that with 90, and there's two other clubs letting in more than 90. What a league.

    Big Bid. Jan 2049

Atlanta (USA not Italy), came in and offered us £15M cash + £5M in installments, but wouldn't discuss a loan back. As the deal won't go through until 10th Feb, the loan was less of an issue because I expect us to be safe by then.

    92791363eaf74e3b05f5e7caaebd9329.png

I obviously added a 50% clause and a friendly and also stuck in £2.5M after 1 International appearance.

This is a HUGE deal for us and will hopefully allows us to not be forced into selling players for a couple of seasons now. This will enable us to really develop players at the club and when we do sell them we should get much more for them.

It will also hopefully allow us to keep these 50% clauses until they are triggered.

What a fee for an MLS club! Just about double the existing record for an incoming transfer.

£7.8M is a lot of money to splash out on facilities, (although our bank balance is £18.8M). We're going to have to sell players and/or recoup some money by clauses because that's quite a hefty investment for a League 1 club that already has to fund the £5M Youth Academy costs each season.

Of course there is a balance to be made between selling players to fund these improvements and keeping our best players at the club in order to secure promotion to the Championship. In any case, the upgrades don't start until the end of the season and then are due to finish in Oct of next season, so while there isn't exactly a rush to sell. there is certainly a deadline looking large on the horizon.

If you get promoted this year (fingers crossed) and can wait to make the sales until you're in the Championship, those player values should pop with the increase in league and club rep too, which'll be helpful.

    Poached. Mar 2047

There is another player who has been poached but whom I missed at the time. He has just come through the intake at Leicester and I know he has been poached because we have 10 clauses on him and because I have checked his Milestones page.

He looks ok, but nothing special.

    272307c81d9dd602ca9a8164fe16272b.png

Right, now this is getting interesting. We get £26k per 10 league appearances, (compared to £5k and £10k previously), so if he was to make 100 league appearances for Leicester City then we would receive £260,000.

    8095074a90077d214c3a8f1aab95b044.png

He's the 4th of 6 players that have been poached and..... oh wow. He's good. He's really good. I mean he's really REALLY good. At least his PA is.

I feel a little awkward checking this because I don't check the PA of my own players, and by doing so I give myself an advantage because I have been open that I want to be able to sign these players if it suits me, (because they are still a product of our Academy). On the other hand I will have gained an advantage by using the editor and that's not what this is about.

I'm not really sure what to do here because I quite like the "Poached" section and I like checking the CA/PA when they come through. Leicester City are in the league above us and look to be heading back to the Premier League anyway, so there is little chance of us signing (HG47) Brendan Gillies, but the potential is still there to do so and it doesn't seem right that I can gain an advantage like this. Thoughts? :kriss:

    f7b5886491374e5a5c69c25a2693d4fa.png

Speaking just for myself, if I were doing this sort of save, I would feel fine re-signing him once I was pretty sure he was done developing (say 25 or 26). You're not really gaining an advantage by knowing his PA if he's already hit it.

  12. Based on that review of your defenders, I'd be sorely tempted to get rid of a couple of the older players on high salaries and give the kids more time next season. Grandini and Novelli definitely aren't all that you want, especially in positioning/marking/tackling, but they also aren't costing you 45k p/w, and maybe they have some room to grow.

  13. Good stuff. Turned it around really nicely from the beginning of the season.

Are you looking to stay at Sampdoria for the coming season, or could you be tempted away? And if we assume you're staying, what are your thoughts about the squad for next year?

In all seriousness, I'm surprised that he left Valencia, (EURO Cup Runners Up), for Brighton. who have only finished better than 9th in the Premier League once in the last decade. Maybe Valencia needed to sell him and Brighton were the only club willing to splash the cash. I really expected him to go to Barca or Real at least, but if not then a Champions League English side. While I look at him and think he's amazing, (I'm biased I know), maybe his 5'10 height and 12 jumping is putting the big boys off? I would have thought he would have been amazing at real or Barca who don't have to defend much.

I wonder if he will move again quite quickly once he starts performing in the Premier League? He surely can't stay at Brighton?

Is this bloke as good as I think he is or am I blinded by love?

He certainly is really good. From the POV of an absolutely top club, besides his jumping reach, his decisions, speed, and composure are all a little lower than what they can probably get elsewhere, which might explain why he's headed to Brighton. There's also the fact that you only have the English leagues loaded, which means that all the rest have less activity. And I suppose there's also the possibility that he doesn't have much more potential for growth left. Not that you care about any of that, of course, since you're rolling in it!

No idea mate. Sorry. I haven't even got a suggestion as to how we might hazard a guess.

Two ways to find out I think, though both have some labor involved. One, go back to the screenshot you posted from when he came through, and use the IGE on some random player somewhere to edit the attributes and positions to be the same, and then look and see what the IGE tells you that CA is. Two, fire up the pregame database editor and create a player with the same attributes.

Just 'good' but I'll take that. No sign of those wing backs, centre backs and goalkeepers I need though!

How much retraining do you tend to do? I find that central midfielders and wingers can often be trained into reasonable wing backs, especially since they tend to have much better technique than newgen wing backs.

    Decisions, decisions. May 2037

I'm torn here as to what to do.

While the player remains on a youth contract, we are at least entitled to 15% profit on any future deal and a minimal initial fee. If I offer him a semi-pro contract, then if someone makes a bid of £20k and no add-ons, the club might accept it and we get no future fee.

There is nobody interested right now so I'm thinking I should maybe offer him a contract, but after losing players like this I'm nervous.

I can't remember--have you had any success offering your players out for free with a 50% of next sale/profit clause once the board accepts an offer over your head?
