I started a Dynamo Dresden save recently- they have a bit of a story behind them and are looked down upon i think from the West German's and were a little hard done by with the advent of the Bundesliga when all their players got poached
They have fanatical support and get about 30000 in the third division

Attributes of 13 for pace, dribbling and flair are very good for L1 making him already one of top L1 players
He made a poor start this season to L1 but Jacobs being injured has given a good run in the side recently. He is only 24 and, as in real life, in FM has the potential to get better. He is certainly not as fast as Harness or Williams
I really rate him i am surprised no one has come in for him

As a Pompey fan while you're on here another player i have always wondered about was Ronan Curtis, to me he always seems underated- I know he's a league 1 player but again he looks quicker in real life than 13 pace really good dribbler and loads of flair

I was wondering why an FM researcher would worry what FIFA has, its 2 completely different products, an example could be acceleration in the same car for 2 different driving games could be different. Im simply explaining why a researcher wouldnt worry about what stats FIFA has for a specific player they are researching. It would be based on their own analysis, comparison with other players similarly, faster or slower paced. If you have some concerns or examples that could highlight a pace rating of 13 is wrong a good way to example it is as I just mentioned. Player attributes are subjective so there will always be some variations of opinion
I disagree a players stats would change a lot from one season to another. I very much doubt FM Finishing would increase for a player from 13 to 17 in a single season. Unless the player was severely under rated to start with it doesnt really work like that. I also very much doubt that finishing would change so dramatically in a single FM simulated season either, its too significant a gain. Its not impossible perhaps but very unlikely.
Pace certainly does change over time. It may increase at a young age as a player gets stronger then peak at some point then decline as they get older. It will also be subject to natural ability, this why similar sized players sometimes are much quicker or slower than others. Also factor in acceleration, how long does it take for a player to reach his top speed?
I'll be honest in that I dont know much about Sean Maguire, the Burnley Assistant Researcher likely does. I think Maguire has a history of hamstring injuries but looking historically it seems his pace rating has been consistent in FM
Oh finally as researchers we dont always get it right so if you find something you disagree with but most importantly you evidence it / compare agaisnt other players then it will likely be considered, not guarantees it will be changed
Dean may disagree but the researchers in FM wont be lazy, they may just have a different opinion
Yeah i agree that it seem's he has had a bad injury and has lost his pace, so FM is spot on, i was just in doubt because i remember seeing him play (Probably couple of years ago now) and he was electric and checking him out on latest FIFA had me thinking he may still have it
I wanted to do a Preston save that pace was crucial in him either being my main man or going on the transfer list so i was just double checking in vain and if someone had confirmed it i would have changed it in the editor guilt free
With the stats changing from year to year i can't think off the top of my head but sometimes a striker will come up to the Prem from the Championship and have a good season and his Finishing will rocket up to 16 or 17 when in reality he's just had the season of his life and the year after go back to his natural level- although i do adimt that is very hard to account for

I've done some work for FIFA doing the ratings for a couple of teams. They had some sort of hard coded restriction which would always cap technical attributes to a certain number, but physicals had more freedom and you can easily bump it up without the system picking those attributes up.
Not saying this is what's happened here, but a lot of FIFA attributes away from the top level are literally just the opinions of one or two fans who battle through a poorly built input system to make their own team's players as good as they can
Always amused me when on FM some player from the Conference has dire attributes across the board yet will have 18 Composure
When they scouted him he must be just casually butchering every single pass

If the OP thinks the FM stat is incorrect as I said before thats not helpful in any way. If he wants it changed then he needs to confirm what he wants it changed to and evidence to support and potential a forum discussion with the responsible AR. Thats the way changes get made for FM
If he thinks the FIFA stat is wrong contact them if he wants it change

As someone else pointed out for you- All i was asking was that anyone who had saw the guy play in real life was able to give an opinion on the Blokes pace
Stats can change quite alot from season to season on FM one year a 24 year has 13 finishing then after a good season it's 17- then the year after back down to 15
Point is Pace doesn't change and so even the laziest researchers at both Fifa and FM should be able to have a decent gage and be similar but they are miles off
I don't play fifa but was aware he was one of the fastest players and so seeing him at 13 was quite a drop and wanted to double check with a fan of Preston

I am going against type for a change and playing as Burnley with the 442- i have never really mastered it but i think i'm closer with this one,
I don't want to be ultra defensive i'm trying to keep it balanced and not touch the team instuctions too much as i prefer to tweek every player individually and i don't want to over ride it (ie my ball winner with 7 passing trying long diags because i set more direct passing
The two center mid are fairly basic but the left mid i've tweeked a lot and he is one i am unure of
If the right winger is holding the line and pushing up i've made the LW more of a floater
The stikers i have TM S
And Barnes on DF s
Now i did smash Spurs 4-0 but up until that game we have been getting seriously dominated

This isn't a story or anything like that i just wanted to tell about my exploits with Derry
I really wanted a challenge and try a smaller nation as iv'e completed the Big 3 so many times it's like Groundhog Day
I am also always on the Lookout for Special kind of team, one that represents something a bit more than football- an us against the world type club (Bilbao,Lazio, Celtic,Millwall)
My eye was drawn across the short Irish Sea- Derry are a unique little club as the hail from Northern Ireland yet play in the Republic due to their Religious beliefs and politics- This city isn't ****ing around and if you are like me a little extreme and not one to sit on the fence these are the Real Deal
Transfer Budgets in Ireland are Non Existent and your Top earner will be on around 900 p/w
That was more than enough though to sign up free agent and ex Celtic Legend and local boy Paddy McCourt
Now i don't want to make this too long i basically just want to get to the main reason for the post- Qualifying for the group stages of Champion's League
So after Winning the LOI i sold a youth prospect to Brentford for 180k with a 50 percent sell on- considering we could only keep 30 percent of it not much to get exited about- but then in the off season for the first time ever on the game i noticed the sell on clause cash in option- perhaps because iv'e never been at a club where every penny counted i never took notice- but i negotiated a higher percentage of transfer revenue and pushed the button- now we had a 'War Chest' of 360k along with the 20k wage allowance i already had- we could now do some proper business
In - Donal McDermott Jake Wright, Brandon Comley, Aaron Kuhl Ben Hall and Alex Samuel all big earners on a whopping 1.5k p/w
As you can see not world beaters by any stretch but compared to what we had these were huge upgrades

2-1 at home and 3-1 away really expected more from them but it was a massive result, already probably one of the biggest in the clubs history
Remember any sort of success in Europe is like a world Cup to these lot- in many ways this is our Champions league right here
Next up Sparta Prague
I was quietly confident in this game because they set up with 2 deep lying midfielders and i know how to play that system well so we totally out played them i was quiet shock at just how easy we beat them- they had a by far better side i kept thinking they were going to have to change system soon and then they might get back into it but they never did so we just kept the ball all game
Patrick McCourt with a legendary performance btw- by now even by our poor standards he is only rated 2 and a half stars by my coaches and other managers frequently call him out as the weak link- but he is the first name on my team sheet an tonight he showed why
Zero pace can hardy move but get the ball to him and he has a wand on either foot

Glasgow Rangers- As Fate would have it if there is a club which represents everything Derry hates then it's this club- How Poetic is this
Derry are Basically a Roided up pure form of Celtic
18000 coming out for this one our average attendance is 2400 so this was a momentous occasion and in a way i was already happy with what we had achieved- my thinking was even if we get knocked out then we will go straight into the Europa so either way we are looking at a huge cash boost
I felt we needed that something- our inside left is Make shift Paddy and i prefer him in the hole so i went on a 'splurge'
If Ireland does have a 'Wonder Kid' then i suppose it's this guy
Parted with 80k upfront and a few hundred k in add ons but we can afford it right now as i haven't touched the 360k
We nicked the first game 1-0 we defended for lifes and nicked one from a corner
First Blood us but the return leg is at Ibrox and they will be heavy favourites
How wrong i was
They changed formation to a 3-4-3 so i switched to 3-5-2 with new signing Brandon Miele in the Hole and Keshi and Alex up front who both have pure pace
here's how it payed out
Pinball in the box poor clearance from them and an own goal- 1-0 us and i can smell nerves
Also 2-0 aggregate they need 3 and we are starting to believe

And then,
Ball broke to Keshi who dropped deep and Miele makes a forward run into the box Keshi plays it through to Miele who is clean through on goal, takes a touch and hits and early shot into far corner- Unbelievable scenes here at Ibrox- all over surely
Rangers Pull one back but there is not enough time and Derry City beat Gasgow Rangers 3-2 on aggregate
I am not even bothered that we will probably lose 6 in 6 and be smashed from pillar to post- we qualified and recieved the handsome some of 20 million pounds

To be honest i think the legs on this save my be over- with the financial power we now have the League will be a cake and i don't have the patience for a 15 year save to try and win Europe but i like the story of i dropped in June 16 won the League and then in less than a year took them to place they never imagined and left the City with an absolute fortune to keep fighting the good fight

Also when i load up and you are selecting team every team has that 'Continental Cup Qualified For' active because my British Cup has Europe set as status- Does this mean in game that every team has extra status and pulling power because we are seen the same as playing in Europa League or Champions League? that would be annoying
Will it still work if i select 'England' as the Country and ditch the Europe
And how do you set it so the winner of the Cup Qualifies for Europa League

Hi- i have set up a British league cup, all is good and veryfied ect but i was wondering how to adjust the levels of entrants from each nation
i have 128 teams total and it works out as 64 from each country but i want it so i have 92 from England and 36 from Scotland

I did wonder that with the number of teams i suppose if i has SPL i can tweak the overall number up by 12, ok ill have a look thanks

Also, editing English competitions using the advanced panel is more fiddly this year because of Bury's expulsion from the EFL so that's something to bear in mind.
I still play fm17 so shouldn't be a problem, i am thinking of just adding the 12 Prem Sides

Done, oh my god i need a cold bath, i knew it ws something simple but i was doing my head in i couldn't let it go, funny thing is i will be bored of Ireland with in 2 days but never the less being able to add my own Cups has opened up so many doors now

I'm assuming 30 in the error message comes from 16+8+4+2, so if you get rid of all added teams apart from those added to the first round you should find that the cup works.

As Krakonico says, you will have to create/rebuild the competition. I have used the old Soviet, Yugoslav and East German competition as a base to set up my Iron Curtain stuff. It works without issue, not different from creating or reusing an existing active competition. Except that you have to make it active again and check that all data is correct. The competition level usually isn't set anymore for instance.

I have been trying to create an All Ireland Cup, i have the tutorials up but the example they are using is slightly different so it can't help me
I think i am 99 percent there i have followed the tutorial to the tee and i have even had the verified message but when it comes to loading the game up, different story
I have taken a few screen shots to try and make my problem clearer
Hopefully somebody can spot where i have gone wrong i am quite obsessive about these things i ve spent 7 hours now tweeking it and messing it up

I ask because while attempting to make my own All Irish Cup i noticed there was already one in the system complete with past winners and everything. so i unticked the extinct option and loaded up a save but no tournament showed up
- Shame as there is also the Anglo-English Cup which would put Rangers and Celtic in against the Elite and give those two greater competition so the SPL wouldn't be so boring
Anyone know if you can bring these tournaments back into the game?
I have done it before with old stadiums and that worked so i don't see why not

Something potentially interesting- I created my All Ireland Cup and found and All Ireland Cup already on system complete with Winners history ect, it say's it's 'EXTINCT' so if i untick this i am hoping it will become live again

I am having Trouble, sometime ago the lay out randomly changed to look like this- i have somehow been getting by having to guess where tabs are most of the time
Is there a way to reset back to the original because it's hindering me, i am trying to click on add continental rules but i can't click it instead selects Database changes,
