He’s done pretty well for me, first season in the league he finished with 16 goal involvements and a 7.11 season average. His league form has dropped off a tad in the second season but he’s been immense in the Champions League. Season stats so far averaging 7.03 with 16 goal involvements after 30 starts.68E8FD96-8112-4623-848B-E00E3AB90D81.thumb.png.415600b31b0784c4ad7c0be8ac9018e6.png

I play him from the left as a inverted winger attack. We play a 433 with a DM. I have a pressing forward attack upfront and a Carrilero LCM. Pretty much gives him the whole left half space to himself.

I have been playing a quick transition counter attacking style so far. Worked great first season pushing Real all the way. Second season not so well. We are top four but well off the pace for the title. I think I need to transition to a bit more ball possession as the players are knackered playing twice a week. Will see if that hinders Muniain and the rest of the team.

I used him in the middle as a MEZ on support. Had to take off those negative PPMs he had ("Plays No Through Balls"? Who researched this guy? :D) but hes got double digits in assists. I got enough options on the wing but not many in midfield so it works out

My greatest hope for FM22 is being able to do something with this. I realize that IRL wingers will often move more narrowly in the final third, but I'd really like it if we were given a choice in the matter. Especially since there are high profile teams (Man City, for example), where wingers hold width regardless of where the ball is, and how far up they are. If I want my wingers to hump the touchline, I should be able to tell them that - and have them do it.

OTOH I want my wingers to stay inside while attacking...and if I set them to Sit Narrower, I expect them to do so when attacking. Too many times I have a 343 system which breaks because my wingers are too wide from the striker and can't support him...

  3. Some extra reading on Italy's tactics

I think it is tough to emulate the way they play as you can only focus one side of the field in FM. They use the whole field instead of one side. When one fb goes forward, the other stays back. Kind of reminds me of how fbs used to play back in the days. Tough to emulate that now in this game (maybe WB (auto) with Hold Position)?

  4. 1) Theres no difference. They're just labels. I don't know why SI decided to retain that as it just confuses people.

    2) PF has Close Down More hard coded and if you put the right player with the right role, they'll work hard and even track back a bit to your own half in order to win the ball back. Think of someone like Drogba or Diego Costa for that role

A CF is someone like Ronaldo Phenom or Lewandowski. They run down the channels, roam from position, they can also act as a creator along with being a scorer. If you have the right system and the right players in place, the CF will press too but they tend to stay high up the field most times in defense in this game

  5. Oooohhh... this reminds me of my previous attempt at Emulating De Zerbi's tactics.

If you're gonna do that, high time-wasting and lowest tempo possible is a good start. Obviously, Shorter Passing and Play Out Of Defense are important there. I would also recommend trying to win the ball back high up the field as well (so High Line, High Pressing)

You can do specific man to man marking the way Bielsa does it. You can come close with position marking on the fullbacks and do a split block press as I alluded to in my video. Unfortunately direct links to videos are not permitted on the forums.

I didn't know about the rule. Forgive me. (Just hunt it down on YT folks)

@Rashidi did a Bielsa replication, so you can check out his Youtube channel and find out more

Yep for last year's versionIs still possible to do in this year, i guess

I'm not a big fan of this game's handling of manmarking. Players tend to mark when it doesn't make sense to sometimes and you can easilly break your defensive system...

Everyone probably has their own version of the potential Klopp/LFC repication, but mine would be something like this, at least as a starting point:

    F9     TQ    AF

    CAR   DLPde  BBM

    WBat  BPDde  CDde  WBsu

    SKsu

Attacking - PoD, slightly shorter passing, run at defence, slightly narrower width, pass into space - counter, counter-press & distribute quickly - higher DL, higher LOE, defend wider & offside trap

Possible role tweaks - BBM into CAR and/or CAR into BWM support.

I'm not big on using a flat front 3. It's not even the closet realistic shape in defense (if we're talking about Liverpool's 433 shape) and that could well smoke you on the counter. I believe using two wingers with narrower instructions and PPMs could get the job done better and not have you skinned in defense
