  1. Hello everybody,

I was just wondering, but this thread is made for really stupid questions so here some of mine. I'm playing for a while now but I still can not have a clear mind about set pieces....and the relation with attributes

    1) Set pieces takers

My question is not so stupid...I know that it's better to choose player with high skills in Corner or Free Kick...well I'd like to have my mind clear about other attributes..

    A/Corner

IMO Corner taker should be good in Corner,in Technique (The higher the range is, the higher the player can curve the ball)...

Then what's about: Crossing (a corner is or isn't a kind of crossing? And does the corner attributes includes it?)..well is there any interaction in that case) and Passes please?

IMO Crossing needs to be good too.

    B/Free kick

IMO also need to includes Long shots, finishing...what's about technique and crossing?

    2/ Set pieces offensive Duties.

I'm not looking for a combo as I know that doesn't exist. Let's take away now the fact that I'm not going to talk about Heading attributes but I know that it's one of the first to look for.

Attacking In the near post I'll use player with high level of Anticipation, Off the ball, Agility, Acceleration, Bravery and Strength.

Attacking In the far post or waiting in the near post, in the case I need to play a Corner in the near post : a player with quite the same attributes but just not as good as the first one.

A player with high skills in long shots/finishing/technique : Out of the area

A player with high level of Finishing/ Composure far post: Just in case of a second ball....I think that in that case Positioning and Agression are helping, aren't they?

Does he also need agility .

Anyone else with the best skills in Agression/Bravery/Strenght to disturb the GK, does it really need strength? I think Marking hasn't influence and Positionning might, could anyone help me to clear my mind please?

About the others one I don't really care...the best in Agression/ Jumping/Head in the front of the goal...I think Positionning could be helpful. If not,or out of the area to try to clear the space (I mean IMO defenders will mark them )

The other ones 2 stay behind. With poor level of heading but good defending skills...usually the fullbacks.

Thanks in advance to help me to clear my mind....If there is any thread about it, please give me the link. Was going to open a new thread, but I've decided not to...as my english is not good enough for this.

3/ One more interaction I was wondering about

Tackling and Technique. IMO a good tackle needs a good technique, is it so IG? Or tackle IG is just a matter of Strenght, Agressivity, Courage and Decision?

    Regards

  2. Hello Cleon,

just some more question as we had a debate on a french forum about positionning on the pitch according to mentality. I mean, we know that the position is first due to the tactic slot..

    The question i:

What does it makes exactly to give more attacking or defensive mentality to a player (without modyfying anything else than this)

    Here's one of your citation,

If in your own tactics you want players to play deeper or higher up the pitch then you can see on this section of the tab if they are playing as you visualise in your head. During a game if you’re not happy with anything then you can pause the game and try and change things slightly and keep doing that until you are happy with the player position. If you just want to check out a specific player then click the selected only option under view. Then highlight the player and you’ll just be able to see that particular player’s average position.

About bolded part, what do you change for modifying individual positionning?

First I would try to see if the task, duty are ok, then the runs...

If it looks ok, then try to modify the mentality slider, to make a player retain or engage more (by that I mean going faster upper on the pitch during an offensive phase).

Are we right to think that modifying the mentality slots for several points can do so, without destroying the whole team structure?

Ie, to keep a player a few deeper on the pitch, what would you advice please?

Will you just modify task or duty, or just runs....because in that case it looks obvious to use shouts just for one player isn't it?

    Cheers

  3. Thanks Cleon for such a quick answer.

So if we want to keep effect of shouts, we have to make no manual changes, isn't it? Is is the same about pressing? For example I use a Nike defense, and manually change pressing and mentality to make them suitable to the kind of defense I'd like to see.

So it means that when I use shout like "Reduce closing down" (not sure about translation, don't know the english version, is there any link about shouts in english way please?), this shouts don't reduce the closing down of my defenders but only the players with default sliders?

Sorry about this questions, just try to understand how it really works to explain it to other and make that notion clear.

edit: So if I get the idea well, it means that if we start to make manual changes, it means that we need to make any change ourselves manually during the match, to adapt it to the opposition and at a particular moment of the match?

Sorry about my relative limited english, hope everything clear enough.

  4. I will add that usually I change a lot of strategy during the match...usually it's give better effects than any downside effect due to unfimaliarity.

By changing the strategy; you make a lot on changes in team and indivdual instructions just by one click.

Moreover, if your tactic is quite well balanced...then you keep it easier than by making changes one by one.

  5. Okay I have some questions about managing inferior teams. At the moment I'm playing in the Czech 2. league and doing all right, I was predicted 6th and am sitting pretty at 2nd but I don't want to loose the grip of it and also want to continue to improve, as well as improve my knowledge.

What types of tactics should I be using with less gifted players ? Should I be going Balanced/Standard or maybe leaning more towards Rigid and a mentality more focused on if I'm favorite playing at home or what.

At the moment I'm using a 4231-wide with a Rigid/Standard and everything on default except Creative Freedom as "More Disciplined" - now it has been working all good, but is there any types of settings I should try and stay away from whilst trying to build my team with maybe one or two more technically gifted players and the rest just having the odd good attribute ?

Is Rigid better for that or just Standard ? Basically just any hints and tips about managing lower and less talented teams, also any hints to assigning roles. Just ANY hints regarding the tactics aspect when trying to build a good team from the lower league in a country that isn't really good in Europe either. Know this might be repetitive but just trying to get some help

To me, you need to see the decision and the collective of the team (more globaly the mental attributes )to see which approach to choose. Watch it indiviually and the average difference beetween players with differents tasks (support, attack etc)

Usually for lower and less talented teams with high "average decision gradients" , rigid can be better...But you also told that everything is working well until now so why change?

If it seems to you that opponents scores too much, too often...well by choosen a rigid approach you'll get a more cohesive team...and then a more solid defensive aspect as in a offensive phase your players will just play one phase. Then each one will not be too quickly out of his defensive position.

If it seems to you that you don't score enough..change the strategy more than the approch as the more fluid is the approach the less the decision gradient should be high, the best should be the collective, decision and position attibutes of each players should be. As well as the endurance, as the players will have to go more up and down on all the pitch.

About the creativity, the best is to make individual changes. Use the pass rating. the shoots statistics to make an opinion. Don't forget to change mentality and pass length as well.

Hope I had been clear enough as I am not a native english speaker.

    have a nice time

  6. Hello,

Definitly it seems to be the best place for my questions. It's about competence for the new staff..

I mean until now we knew which attributes to look for to get a goog scout, a good GK prep etc...

Well I was wondering which attributes should I look for with the 13 new roles?

I mean how to get a good youth team responsable or the scouting responsable (not sur about terms as I am French) for exeample?

I know first we need to check the personnality, prefered formation... I'm just wondering about attributes to check to know "in a glance" if I should offer a contract or not.

    Thanks in advance
