  1. Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me which file the player data is stored in.

I want to export all the player information into Excel so I can have a scouting sheet (that is to say, all 450,000 players).

I know I can't export from the editor itself, so wondered if someone could just point me in the direction of the file where the numbers are stored.

I realise this is a process that will likely have many hurdles, but I can't even find the first!

Thanks so much for any help.

  2. Hi there,

Lots of my friends now live abroad, and we can't play FM together, despite all loving the game.

Thought it would be cool to have a game that we can all access at any time, with an automated 'continue' at the end of every day.

The game would be slow, but we would all get access and it would almost feel like the good old days of "Play by mail" management.... ish.

Is this remotely possible, without leaving my PC burning on 24/7.

If not, what is the alternative... to run a "server" myself off an additional pc?

Rather hoping there would be some 3rd party companies running this sort of thing, but a cursory google search suggests not.

    Cheers

The tactics I used with Dulwich to make it to PL were beowulf and WARRIOR 442,on lower league tab. Warrior and Kashmir may also be useful.

There are player filters on the Baden Powell site for attributes by position.I tend to ignore roles but they can be trained.

Thank you for the reply @knap

There seem to be several links to tactics with similar names. I hope it's not too cheeky to ask, can you link to the specific ones that you opted for.

    Thanks again

Recently promoted into the premier league with Nottm Forest...

Going to rebuild the squad around a tactic (or two)

Wondered which you considered best for such a job. Also, is it ideal to buy players to fit roles, or are other attributes perhaps more important (as suggested by the attribute weighting in your original post)

Thanks as ever for your tireless contribution to this forum.

  5. Drew against Villa and Man Utd. Lost to Real Madrid, Man City and Liverpool... had some games where I was destroyed in terms of shots on target and possession.... but other than these anomoloies, the tactic is solid.

Any advice on how to adapt this against "stronger" teams. My team is pretty insane as it goes... but still not hitting the mark every game.

    1. I don't know if I understand it correctly but I don't believe that staff are gaining country knowledge of new arrivals. If they work in foreign country - yes. If foreign arrival comes - not really. At least I didn't noticed that in my 5 years in Spain.

    2. Youth recruitment covers that, not scouting knowledge. The bigger the youth recruitment - the bigger the range of players than can come through youth intake.

    3. The range of players in youth intake is mainly controlled by youth recruitment, then affiliated clubs (when you have affiliation with chance for players to come through youth ranks), then it's hoyd and staff (but to some extent I guess.)

    Dzienkuje bardzo ! :D

I will try to make sure i have some amazing affiliates. When you are asked to pick an affiilliate after being at a cliub for a while... how does that work. i never get who i want

no tweaking when playing home or away, just changing the mentality between attacking, positive and balanced.

Thank you so much for clarifying. I have adopted this tactic based on your suggestion and so far it's been excellent. Thank you so much! and of course TFF for creating it in the first place.

Games with Cerber and its close cousin Fighter have tended to follow one of a few patterns

    1. Scoring bucketloads in quick time

    2. Bossing the stats but game ends 1-0/0-0/0-1

    3. Getting destroyed in quick time

If I lose a man it's a very difficult system to patch together as mahoosive space is conceded somewhere. Most commonly I'm conceding from just giving the ball away, a lump down the pitch or a screamer from 20-30 yards.

    This is my experience also.

Precisely why I'm here to search for tweaks.

  9. Hi all,

    1. If any staff member has 100% knowledge of a nation, does that mean that it's automatically updated when new players arrive into the nation? Do i have to supplement it with scouting as well?

    2. Does scouting knowledge affect the youth intake of the Head of Youth Development (HOYD). Does he gain greater access to players with an improved club scouting knowledge.

    3. Though the HOYD impacts the type of players that come through with his preferred formation, passing style and personality etc. does his individual scouting knowledge limit/impact the nationality of players coming in?

    Cheers!

  10. You have First team coaches, U23 coaches and U18 coaches.

The first team is trained by...: First team coaches + U23 coaches

The U23 team is trained by...: First team coaches + U23 coaches

The U18 team is trained by...: First team coaches + U23 coaches + U18 coaches

My question is, do U23 coaches impact U18's and First teamers less in training, due to them being assigned to the U23 team as a priority? Or, can I sneak in some amazing staff into my U23 coaching team, to provide quality and alleviate workload on my first team coaches with the same positive effect as if they were first team coaches in the first place?

My board wont let me have more coaches is all... and I want to workload to be light on my staff.

    Cheers

  11. Me and my mate were playing a game, in which I finished just outside of an automatic European place.

However, a team from my league was in the Europa final, and top. Additionally, another team in top won the cup....

Basically, it would be nice if there was a feature (much like the one already in place regarding relegation battlers/potential league winners as the season is coming to a close) that informs you which teams can benefit from the confusing placements based on cup and league results in our respective countries. To clarify, here is an article on the BBC talking about what I mean (as I haven't slept and feel i'm explaining it very poorly)

  12. Player traits are often overlooked, if my friends are anything to go by. Often in multiplayer games they will complain about a players actions in game, at best blaming their tactics, at worst... the match engine itself.

A few clicks and a quick glance later, more often than not, I can see that this "abnormal, abhorrent and awful" match incident, aligns (unsurprisingly) perfectly with said players traits. He is doing... exactly what his player page said on the tin.

The importance of player traits can't be overlooked, influencing how our footballers behave on field. Of course, there is often times some degree of uncertainty as to what is required for each.

Sadly, I too am unsure, and am turning to you for help.

Rather fortunately for the spreadsheeters of the world, FM allows us to export player data. Numerical fiddling on a heavenly grid based spreadsheet system get's my (presumably somewhat beige and tepid) juices flowing. Thus, I aim to create a "traits calculator", where you can copy your players attributes into it, and it will spit out what traits he best suits and which you should avoid.

Thanks to the tireless work of people at FMScout (I'm not affiliated with them, but greatly appreciate the effort), I've been using the list of attributes they suggest as a guide. However, on closer inspection I feel it may be slightly wrong. So, I've made a list of all the traits, and the corresponding attributes... and wanted to see whether or not they seem right to people from experience/other websites/insider information.

After clearing the agreed upon errors, I'll go ahead and make the traits spreadsheet, and post it here ASAP. It's not like i'm going anywhere anyway.

So, please help me if you can spare the time (he joked), to make sure that it will be as accurate as possible.

    Cheers!

P.S. Should linking to other websites not be permitted, please let me know. For fairness, I'm merely placing a link to the site I used, as this was not my own work. Forgive me if this does not follow forums rules.

  13. Player traits are a key component of the game, and hugely affect player contribution to matches.

As with roles, I think making traits clickable, and having the corresponding attributes highlighted, will make it easier to determine which is appropriate for each player and which isn't.

Though I don't doubt there is some joy in figuring it out for yourself, there is inconsistency across internet based guides as to which attributes actually matter...

In a game already loaded with intricate and near infinite variables, I think this would be a nice added touch to make the task of deducing a player's "fit" a touch easier.

    Cheers

P.S. Also, when hovering over a player trait on his attributes screen, it would be nice to have the description of what it means pop up. This works on some pages but not on others.
