Big increase in determination attribute.

Recommended Posts

So, I bought Andre Trindade from Fluminense (January transfer window) in my FM24 Beta Liverpool save and put him in a mentoring group with the Portuguese speaking players with the best personalities including Alisson Becker.

I know he started the game with 13 Determination, then I looked at his profile to see if he had made any progression attribute wise and noticed that between march and april he made a big +6 jump with the Determination attribute, is this normal? As in, is this to be expected in FM24 when it goes live?

I've never seen attribute jumps this big before in terms of progression and mentorship so it kind of shocked me as it seems he's just outright inherited Alisson Beckers Determination. It also seems he has similar hidden attributes to Alisson (can't see them in FM24 beta) as he's gone from a Balanced personality to a Professional personality.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about it and would love it if mentorship, in particular with highly respected national compatriots, will have such positive drastic effects in terms of improvements to the determination and personality attributes when the game goes live.

I'm certainly of the opinion that mentorship in previous iterations of the game has been underwhelming (to put it lightly) in this regard in particular so I'm definitely hoping this is by design and is working as intended rather than something that shouldn't happen.

Anyone seen this occur, can weigh in and clarify what's what?

Thanks

No it appears that the person you select to welcome to the team will have his personality copied over to the new signing.

I see. Thank you.

Would have liked to see drastic improvements to mentorship which as far as I'm concerned is extremely underwhelming and barely worth spending time on as judging from FM23 personalities saw very little positive change from the personalities regens and youth players spawned or loaded up with.

Character development should be a major part of the game and mentorship should have very noticeable impacts where experienced, respected strong characters (model professional, professional, spirited, resilient, iron willed etc) have a massive impact on up and coming u23 players and youth players. I would include younger u25 players as well in regards to u19 youth team players as well in regards to mentorship.

Likewise, negative characters with poor personalities (confrontational, volatile, unsportsmanlike, low temperament etc) if used in mentor groups should have drastic negative impacts on character development in their mentor groups.

That would be more reflective of real life as far as I'm concerned.

The old system (one on one) was very overpowered though that is why they've toned it down. I never really got far enough in a save to see impacts in 23.

I think the main issue is that no real players have negative personalities some might be more or less professional or sporting but you won't see slack or casual on a real player. IMO it takes away some of the realism. So to combat the fact that for the first 10-15 years of a long term save you'll have leaders that have positive personalities I think toning down whatever benefit there is feels appropriate. Otherwise it would feel too easy to take any young player put them in a desirable mentor group and remove all negative personality effect.

I'm sure mentoring has some effect on some players but in reality I'm not so sure player personalities change much because they're in a group with "model citizens". It feels like a game mechanic more than reflection of real life.
