andychar
I wasn't sure if I was going to document this save or not. Basically I'm in limbo at the moment while waiting for @lionel messi to finish his amazing work on the England Tier 11 Database so I can restart the County's Save. I was doing the Joint Save in Denmark but Beta Problems put an end to that. I then went to Chelsea for a few seasons and managed to put a ridiculous team together easily and won everything. I've decided to do something I've not done for a while. Start a save with no agenda, no end goal. Just going to start unemployed with no badges or experience and just see where the game takes me. (Its dark because my games is currently being processed). I've chosen the major leagues in Europe to begin with (and Scotland). All loaded down to the bottom of the Countries. I have no preference where I go. There are only 2 clubs in the World I won't manage and thats Liverpool and Celtic (I'm a Rangers fan so no Celtic and I'm a football fan so no Liverpool ). That's basically it! Here I am looking sexy. I am known for my Adaptability. Lets see what happens.
andychar
Chapter 1 - Will Do Unspeakable Things for Food Starting off unemployed my first idea was just to go to the Job Centre and click "Apply for All". What worries me is I can't see myself getting any of these jobs! I listed 2 jobs I would never take on. Make it 3. I'm from Mansfield so there's no way I'm touching the sinking ship known as Chesterfield! I reckon I'd get a random U19 role somewhere but I can't see myself getting any of those club teams. Well I wasn't wrong! It was a rough 8 minutes for me I'm not going to lie. The voicemail Derby left me was just Wayne Rooney laughing down the phone for 2 minutes straight. I was asked by TalkSport (how they have heard of me I have no idea) if I was open to working abroad. At which point I started salavating at the mouth and replied "I will work in Syria if it gets me a job". Pfft what's Leam got that I haven't apart from a stupid name. Oh right yeah, badges and experience. Fair enough. Good shout Wigan. 13 International Managers who went to Staff Search and used the Filters "Reputation - Nominal" "Employed? - No" "Completely and utterly desperate? - Yes" and found my name. Question is where am I starting my managerial journey to World Cup winner and generally the GOAT?
andychar
Chapter 2 - Working with Youngsters Working With Youngsters - 1 I made my decision weighing up all the options. Wage, standard of living... It had nothing to do with the fact Bulgaria's Group looks like this.. Out of all the teams who offered me a job and were in qualifications Bulgaria were the ones who had the best chance of getting through. I turned down quite a few offers, this I feel is the best at the time. I will be keeping my eyes out for a Domestic job but this isn't a horrible placeholder. And lets face it, its something different...right? Right!? I won't have long to wait until our opening game. Couldn't have picked it better really. My Assistant Manager is so much better than me and he's Bulgarian. This is the strongest starting XI for our first game against Liechtenstein. We should be winning it really. I mean should I happy? 37 shots and only 2 goals! That's not very good. That being said we got the job done. It seems to have turned into a 2 horse race. We need to beat Ukraine because I imagine they will take more advantage than we did against the bottom feeders. 2 games next month which could set up Ukraine away as a winner take all job. I think there's a playoff for the best Runners Up so fingers crossed at the very least we can get that.
andychar
Chapter 2.2 - You Don't Win Anything With Kids Kosovo and Iceland this month. Always wanted to go to Kosovo We got away with poor finishing against Liectenstein because they got nose bleeds everytime somebody wandered into our half. I don't think we will get that lucky against these two. I shall do totally exciting minute by minute updates as my professional career hangs in the balance! That and there's not really much else to report. A better stronger side is picked for this double header. Lets go boys! Its been coming after a strong start and finally we get the breakthrough. A low driven shot from outside the box finds its way into the bottom corner. Two goals in a matter of seconds and this one was a powerful strike, once again outside the box, right in the top corner. Keeper no chance. Fantastic stuff. Whose laughing now Wayne! Lovely through ball followed by a cool finish. This is the performance I expected againt old Lichy. We are where we need to be at HT. Ukraine are currently level with Iceland after falling behind early. Them dropping points would be huge at this stage. Fantastic start to the second half. This is going the old GD the World of good. We make it 5 minutes later...but its chalked off for offside. Just the 4 then. This time it is 5. No chalking that off. Free kick on the wing whipped in and powerfully headed home off the bar. Stitch that! A late red card for the hosts. Straight red for a horrible challenge. Job done in Kosovo. We return home next for a game against Iceland. Ukraine turned it around and grabbed a HUGE 94th minute winner which keeps them 3 points ahead of us. We play our game in hand next. No matter what happens we will go into the final game against Ukraine knowing a win will send us into the European Championships. If we beat Iceland then a point would be enough against Ukraine thanks to our GD being better. That's the ideal scenario. Pressure is off at least. We should go into this contest full of confidence while Iceland should be the opposite, but they have nothing to play for so this will be interesting. We are forced into one change. Lets go! Its been a strong positive start and we get the breakthrough we deserve. Any early nerves hopefully gone and we can push on from here. A goal just before half term gives us full control of the game. We just need to hold on now and claim the top spot. Hoping this win will make Kettering really take notice. (I have no idea why they were the first English team to pop into my head). Well deserved. We played 2 very good games when it mattered. It sets up a very big game next month. Its simple. Win or draw and we qualify. Lose and it will be the playoffs... I think we are guarenteed a playoff place. Although reading about it I don't think its a playoff at all. I think its just Top 5 go through. So really....are we through already? andychar
Chapter 2.3 - I Don't Want to be a Chicken in Kiev Ok so the game is actually going to be played in Dnipro but for the purpose of what I believe to be a very good chapter name can we all ignore that fact? The first domestic job of the season has come up. Will we be heading to the 3. Bundesliga? Only time will... Not even an interview. Bad times. Germany rejected me. Time to try Italy. Didn't want to go to Italy anyway. I do miss Fish and Chips. Once again I'm not able to pick my Strongest XI for this crunch game. The problem with U21 management. You get what's left after the Full International Call Ups. This reminds me of the team we started against the Minnows which we won but not very convincingly. We know what we need to do. Lets go out and do it! There's the breakthrough! One foot in the Finals. Wow he literally ran through the defence from kick off and scored. Take that foot right back out! Great game of football which, at this moment, could go either way. So far so good it has to be said. Huge goal. Lets see if we can keep it for longer than 15 seconds! And that is surely enough! Job done! We took our chances and they didn't. Brilliant result. Into the Finals we go! I will do the Tournement and then resign. Fingers crossed this is enough to add to the CV. No Interview. I'm starting to think this management lark isn't for me....at least Bulgaria loves me!
andychar
Chapter 2.4 Job Hunting Jobs were coming thick and fast and it seemed like I was clicking "Apply to All" more and more. Sevilla B turned me down, not even an interview. If that doesn't raise alarm bells nothing would! The Draw for the European Under 21s wasn't kind. We have proven we can beat Ukraine but don't fancy our chances against Belgium or England. The good thing was getting there at all I think. Brackley have given me my first opportunity for an interview at least. The next Euro Qualification group has been drawn but honestly I don't think I'll be here for it. Good thing as well looking at it! I've decided to wait a week. Just to see what else can pop up. Not that I'm expecting anything but I kinda wanted to avoid England to be honest! I had an interview with a B team in Spain but at the end of the day that didn't appeal to me. It was time to start a new chapter.
