lblanc
Inspired by @doctorbenjy I'm going to partake on a challenge so grand it spans two continents. My aim is to win the League and Cup competitions in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and the US, as well as Continental club glory with the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana in South America and the North American Champions League in the North. I'll also try to win the Continents International trophies the Gold Cup and Copa America and perhaps for good measure the FIFA World Cup

lblanc
I start with One of my favourite Brazilian teams São Paulo Futebol Clube, I'm not going to give an overview of their squad as I'm already half way through season 2 now ;-) Edited August 24, 2020 by lblanc
lblanc
Season 1 A slightly disappointing league campaign were I finished 6th. Too many draws were to blame but truth be told Flamengo ran away with it. Though there was some success as I won the Copa do Brazil which meant one trophy can be crossed off the list. lblanc
So having left Sao Paulo I now have a new club Having finished 5th last season Colo-Colo were looking for a new manager and after an Interview I accepted their offer. A club with history having won 32 League Titles and 11 Chile Cups, I believe I can get them back to the top. What also enticed me is the fact they are in the Copa Sudamericana giving me a chance to win that this season. Squad Assessment Goalkeepers Fernando de Paul is my number one starter, Carabali is an able deputy and I do have two young goalkeepers who are good prospects. I should be OK here Defenders Again I have I have my obvious starters in Zaldivia and Bechholdt , Araya I'm going to play in a DM role but he can cover if needs be Aravena is young but can also provide cover. I think the only area I'll look to improve here is the full backs. Midfielders Probably my strongest area of the field is my midfield options, good mix of experience and youth. Forwards Again some decent forwards in the group, There is a lack of depth out on the left hand side, The right wingers are capable of playing in the middle or as CF's so I may utilize them in that way. Transfer Plans Left back -Priority CB- if I can find upgrade Mid- If i can find upgrade FW- Should be fine Tactic Tactic wise I'm going to go with this basic shape, since I have no left wingers. I have 17 days until the season starts so I might throw in a friendly or two just to test things out.
lblanc
Almost at the halfway stage of the season and I'm sitting pretty on top The Copa Sudamericana didn't go as planned but I'm quite happy with how the league is going. I've also changed formation to 4-3-3 type style as I felt I needed cover on the wings as in those early games I was getting overran out wide. Here is what I done in the transfer window Cornejo has quickly established himself as my first choice left back and has pitched in with goals and assists. The rest Pineau was already signing he's a young forward more for the u19 team. Ivan Rossi is an all round cm who can cover multiple roles, Castro I brought in as backup when I was playing two up front Prieto provides experience at the back . My DoF brought in Beausejour though I can't register him until the the start of June. I've also learnt my pathway to hopefully Copa Chile glory so hopefully I can add that and venture to the next country next season. In terms of transfers for the summer seems I've moved to playing wingers I'll be looking at bringing in some on the left hand hand to compete with Valencia whose done an OK job at times but I think he's more suited to a central option. lblanc
A cool format for the Copa Chile sees the 2nd, 3rd and quarter finals take place over June and July I will now face O'Higgins in the Semi Final in September and October for a chance to play Coquimbo Unido or Curico Unido in the Final in November. As mentioned in the transfer window I was looking for a left winger and I was able to add this little gem Alexander Machado from Cerro 230K I also brought in Bayron Oyarzo from Curico Unido fro 500k who will provide nice cover for the right wing. lblanc
Here we are club number 3 LAFC, founded in 2014 Los Angeles Football Club joined the MLS in 2018 and have been a major success in real life winning the Supporters Shield in their second year of existence in 2019. In game well an 11th place finish last season seen the job become available. The MLS has some pretty strict guidelines in terms of player registration and Salary cap something I'll look to get to grips with LAFC Squad Assessment Goalkeepers In terms of Goalkeepers Ichazo is the number 1 at the moment, Callum Burton is able backup if needed Defenders In defence there is definite standout starters including 1 of my 3 Designated Players Davide Biraschi, two young right backs who have potential and experience on the left hand side. Midfield Centrally a bit light outside of Atuesta but again some decent younger players, this may be an area I'll look to strengthen. Attackers Obviously some crossover with the midfield here but the stand out are Carlos Vela and Diego Rossi my other 2 Designated Players. Diomande coming back will be a great help I think as he'll fit into my Starting XI as my CF. Of course I'll have to see how the squad registration goes and who I can register but overall I'm happy with the squad. lblanc
So after a few days being busy with work got back to the save today. Not going to lie mls rules are slightly confusing but I've managed to put together a decent team. Shall update tomorrow with the squad but I'll tease that I've been able to bring in one of my Colo Colo boys to strengthen the team.
lblanc
So the squad and transfers for this season First the outs 3 players I traded out to other teams Callum Burton and Matt Van Oekel went to Cincinnati and Orlando and Peter Lee Vassell went to Nashville, Burton and Vassell went to mostly free up an International slot and Oekel as I brought in a player in the the December Draft who will be my backup keeper. One more out was Bergson who move on a free to Criciuma more to reduce the wage budget but also gives me an extra International slot should I need it. Now for the Ins As my new backup goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski drafted in December from Montreal Impact. His positioning leaves a lot to be desired but I hopefully won't need to use him anyway My second transfer for 2.1m to help with my midfield a player who was brilliant for me last season with Colo-Colo welcome to LAFC William Alacron- As said he was one my mainstays in midfield during my season with Colo-Colo very well rounded and capable in a few roles So my squad for the season Goalkeepers Defenders Midfielders Forwards Registration As I said it was a tough nut to try and balance but I managed to get it below the salary cap. Tactics Positive Tika-Taka standard
lblanc
Halfway through the season And with a game in hand over Philadelphia I'm 3 points clear Here is my remaining fixtures, hopefully there is a few more in the US Cup too. I brought in one more player more just cover an injury in cm Alessandro Sala comes in on loan from AC Milan
lblanc
US CUP Down In terms of the MLS I've qualified for the Playoffs, given that I'm 15 points clear I should qualify directly for the Semi Finals As for the Supporters Shield I'd say it's between myself and NYCFC My run is tough but manageable While NYCFC's is also tough. lblanc
Club 4- Club Atlético Independiente Independiente is based in the city of Avellaneda in Greater Buenos Aires. The club is considered one of Argentina's Big Five football clubs. Independiente holds a longstanding rivalry with neighbor club Racing in the Avellaneda derby, referred to as El Clásico de Avellaneda. The club has won a record 7 Copa Libertadores earning them the nickname Rey de Copas (King of Cups). The rules for the Argentinian league are quite simple starting on in July ending in May Obviously that means the season is at the half way point here is how it stands The remit is finish in the top half by the end of the season, well managable. Squad Assessment I inherit a squad with a few unhappy and demotivated players but a lot of hunger. Goalkeepers 3 Keepers in the squad Rehak wants to leave , I might just let him to fund a move for a new keeper who would be considered number 1, the young Sayavedra has been playing the majority of games this season while a prospect he may not be fully ready, the same can be said for Bacchia. An experienced keeper is something I will prioritize. Defenders Probably the strongest area of the squad I'm very happy with the options here, Zalazar is unhappy with his game time at the moment but he seems a decent option so I will give him his chance. The only area is perhaps cover for left back Midfielders Another strong area with cover for all positions , Roa is out on loan I do have the option to recall him but I'm quite excited about the young Filippetto (wanted by wonderkid snatchers Man City and PSG) who looks a real talent and someone I'll look to build around. Palacios is listed but again I think I'll give him a chance before accepting anything for him. Forwards An interesting area star player Mauro Molina wants to leave to compete for silverware, I want to keep him and shall promise the world but we shall see. A few older and fringe players are transfer listed and I'll probably allow them to leave if I get a suitable offer. Tactics my favored Custom 4-2-3-1 Tika Taka Edited September 18, 2020 by lblanc
lblanc
Small update My First step into International Management. After crashing out in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup Colombia became available. I'll admit I was hoping that one of Mexico and USA would come available given the Gold Cup is in the summer of 2023 but they went to the quarter final and FINAL (in US case) so they didn't become available. Also in terms of the other big South American jobs well Scaloni held onto his job despite a Quarter Final exit and Brazil won the World Cup so Renato Gaucho stayed in his job. Though saying that Colombia have some great players , in the likes of James Rodriquez, Alfredo Morelos etc. I'll have a year and a half to work towards the Copa America with them in 2024 so hopefully I can build a winning team for that. lblanc
So I've reached the end of the transfer window with Independiente. The board is very pleased with how I've done in regards to signing High-Reputation players Firstly I was able to get rid of a few I didn't want/ didn't want to be here In terms of the ins, there was 5 in total Augusto Battalla 3m from Atletico Minerio comes in to be my number 1 (Well number 22) goalkeeper Next in 1 of 3 players the board really liked On a free Gonzalo Higuain, Ok he might be 35 and in the twilight of his career but his finishing is still on point. The next one a real coup and one I'm very surprised agreed to join Matias Vecino for 1.2m for PAOK Next in bringing him home to finish his career for 1.1m from Sao Paulo Sergio Aguero, similar to Higuain he may be in his mid 30's but he still has it where it counts. Last but not least for 1,8m from Santos to help cover left back Santiago Arzamendia In terms of the start to my reign I was a little worried with the performances in the friendlies but once the league got back under way 4 straight wins. One thing which I didn't know and was a pleasant surprise is that Independiente are in the Copa Sudamericana which will give me a good chance to win that competition I play FC Cusco from Peru in the first round I will also say with only half of the league season played there is only an 11 point gap to my city rivals Racing in 1st place. lblanc
5 games left in the league It is all to play for Remaining fixtures are very interesting should I beat my city rival Racing I'll go within a point of them which should put them under pressure.
lblanc
Here is the results since I arrived in the League That Racing result was key as I finished 1 point ahead of them. My plan is to stay with Independiente to try and secure the Copa Argentina and Copa Sudamericana.
