Timetxu
OCTOBER 2017 The last three games of the year? How we didn't score is beyond me and especially against New York City and Montreal, we were the better team shots wise. I'm very disappointed about the last result against Montreal: once again a team who is on a 5 game losing streak beats us. We sure are the best antidote against in out-of-form team. Just our luck. TABLE: This means that the season pretty much ends the way it was before the change of tactics. Despite all effort I've put in, we've finished 10th in the Eastern Conference and even 20th in the Supporters' Shield. Christ, we've got our work cut out next season. At least we'll have high draft picks I guess. Atlanta United wins both the Cup as well as the division in their very first season. Colorado amazingly wins the Supporters' Shield after having 1.001-1 odds before the start of the season. The lowest of all teams. How's that for some realism? NEXT UP: Little recap of the MLS Playoffs before we're headed into the first month of offseason in which I'll tell who's leaving and who's staying. Timetxu
NOVEMBER 2017 November means playoffs in the MLS! For clarification: the top 6 of both Conferences qualify for the playoffs. In the wildcard round, 3rd ranked teams face the 6th ranked teams and 4th play 5th in a one-tie only knockout game. The best two per conference get a round off. After that, we get two-legged ties in the Conference Semifinals and Conference Finals. The MLS Cup is a one-off game in the stadium of the team with the best regular season record. WILDCARD ROUND EAST WEST CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS EAST WEST CONFERENCE FINALS EAST WEST MLS CUP 2017 It's both Conferences' #2 seeds gathered at BMO Field, Toronto - weird, would have thought it would be in Kansas City - in barren conditions: -6 C. T The first half was a bore for 30 minutes. The only chance came from an Altidore header. However, suddenly Kansas City were awake and scored with their first shot of the game: after a Feilhaber free kick, Blessing heads on and Mustivar scores. Toronto is baffled and some sloppy defending leads to huge chances for the official home team. This eventually leads to the 2-0: Rubio heads the ball in at the near post, beating two defenders to score from a Gerso cross. However, 2-0 wasn't the score at half time. After a beautiful run of passes, Altidore squares the ball for Delgado to score from only 7 meters from the goal. The second half did not lead to the expected Toronto storm. Kansas City managed to hold on to most of the ball and created some little chances from far out. Toronto awoke with only half an hour to go, but after a series of smaller shot chances, Kansas City looked to clinch te game. Sinovic lifts the ball into the box and Blessing is completely open at the far post to head it in. Toronto seemed to lose all their confidence after that. They only had one chance after Kansas City's goal. However, that one went straight in as Osorio managed to score after a breakaway. It proved, however, too late.
