mark1985
Melilla is a Spanish city located on the north coast of Africa, sharing a border with Morocco with an area of 12.3 square kilometres (4.7 sq mi). Melilla, along with Ceuta, is one of two permanently inhabited Spanish cities in mainland Africa and until 1995 was part of the province of Málaga. In 2011, there was a population of 78,476 made up of ethnic Spaniards, ethnic Riffian Berbers, and a small number of ethnic Spanish Jews. Melilla is claimed by Morocco and is considered by the Moroccan state to be "occupied territory". The city's football club, UD Melilla, play in the third tier of Spanish football, the Segunda División B. The club was founded in 1943 and since 1945 have played at the 12,000-seater Estadio Municipal Álvarez Claro. Until the other club was dissolved in 2012, UD Melilla played the Ceuta-Melilla derby against AD Ceuta. The clubs travelled to each other via the Spanish mainland to avoid entering Morocco. The second-highest ranked club in the city are Casino del Real CF of the fourth-tier Tercera División. I decided it was time for Melilla to wake up and give Europe a shock! I will be applying a 'cantera' style System and having as many local Players as possible with as many of them as possible coming through the youth ranks. As you can see, this'll take some doing... And very limited financially too Wish me luck people. I think I may need it...

I finished 9th which is a respectable mid table Position like the board asked for [/img] Juan Francisco Gutierrez

mark1985
This season, with many of my established players leaving on a free in order to reduce the wage bill, I was hoping the youngsters would step up the the plate and push on. I was confident that they could, as especially the two (Junco and Guttierez) who I gave some game time to at the end of my first season looked promised, albeit a little young. After a slow(ish) start with me drawing far too many games, my form started to pick up. Although being there or thereabouts right until the final week or 2, I couldn't quite make the playoffs. I put this down to the inexperience of a team in transition and more 16/17 year olds in and around the first team. [/img]
mark1985
So, my third season is here and I'm feeling confident about getting a playoff place. I managed to grab a few free transfers although I did have to sell Conde (one of my strikers) for 50k as my finances are pretty poor. Although this year, I've been entered into the Cup so fingers crossed for a money ppinning 3rd round tie away to Barca or Real (assuming I get that far). A decent pre season where all my players got a run out, but as you can see from the results, although my first team is decent, the reserves could do with some work. Most of my reserves are U-18 players so lack experience and due to financial constaints, there's little I can do to change that.
mark1985
So, the fan takeover finally happened after a few months of waiting and they inputed a tiny amount of money into the club, mainly thanks to a HUGE loan. I then went cap in hand to ask for a little bit more transfer money and would they mind upgrading my youth academy whilst they were at it? Their response wasn't exactly what I expected... So I'm afraid thats the end of my Melilla adventure. I loaded up several more leagues, holidayed and applied for some Jobs. Got laughed out of town by them all (even by lower league NI teams with half the rep of Melilla!!!) so thats the Signal to end this one I think. Don't know if anyone bothered reading, but thanks anyway. Wonder where I'll go next...
