Degree of Attribute Growth

Recommended Posts

So I have a nice Dutch newgen DM/CM that I signed a couple of seasons a go and then loaned out to clubs to aid his development. Now at 18 his stats are really promising and the scout reports are good. I intend to use him as squad rotation player this season to fill in for THuddlestone. There is a one problem about him - his strength is 4. I want my holding midfielders to be brutes not shandy drinkers. So I have done the the following;

-Individual training focus - Strength

-Specialised training regimen with intensive Strength

Now in the last month or two his strength has rocketed up to, wait for it, 5. I at least expect him to reach double figures. So is there any chance that giving Huddlestone (strength 19) the newgen to tutor he might be able to take his down the gym and improve on his strength? Any other things I can do to help the lad? Or should I give up and try and make my protege more of an twinkled toed attacking midfielder?

I wonder what extend stats can improve. Is it worth the time and effort? Has anyone seen their young strikers finishing rocket from single figures to a 20?

That's about all that you can do to improve his strength. Give him lots of games and providing his personal stats are decent he should improve his CA. That CA should be pumped into his physical stats as is natural for such a young player, and with your training regime, strength should be the favoured of those physical stats. You're unlikely to get him up to Huddlestone strength though. The most I've ever seen or heard a player improving in one stat was 6/7 increments and that would depend on a good professional personality. Also note that high strength training can increase the likelihood of training injuries, thus reducing the amount of games a player plays and therefore his CA increase. So watch out for repeated muscle strains due to gym work, reduce the strength load if it becomes a problem.

If I was you I'd try to get his strength up to double figures and then look towards playing him differently either as a Xabi Alonso style DM with a destroyer next to him or retraining his position so he can play at AMR, L or C or as a WB. The choice of what position obviously depends on his current strengths and weaknesses.
