A new chapter in the history of England is about to start. After England's departer in Euro 2004 in the Quater Finals Sven-Goren Erikson was sacked from his post as England Manager.

England needed to hider a new manager and the choice of the FA was Manchester United manager Kieran Freemantle.

Kieran was the obvious choice; he won the Premier league, FA Cup, Champions League and the League Cup easily. Some of England's best players play for him and he knows how to work a squad.

The first challenge for him is qualification to the 2006 World Cup.

Group 9

The first fixture would be against Scotland on the 11th of Wednesday 2004.

Freemantle's first fixture against Scotland on the 11th of September at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland. Scots wouldn't have too much trouble getting to the stadium so it should be a good one.

The England had to be picked by the 2nd September.

Goalkeepers

Steve Harper Age 27 0 Caps. Newcastle (on loan to W.B.A)

A suprise choice by the young England manager but he is having a good run at W.B.A and has found a new home at The Hawthorns. He is believe to be the 3rd choice goalie

Paul Robertson Age 24 2 Caps. Leeds.

A more normal choice in the England squad. The player is having lack luster form in the league but is playing brillantly in the Inter-toto cup.

Richard Wright Age 26 9 Caps. Everton.

Playing well for Everton but hasn't major to have a clean screen let. Possibly the first choice goalkeeper for the side.

Defencers

Darren Kenton 0 caps age 25. Southampton.

A fine player from London that can play as a sweeper, right back and centre back. Playing very well for Southampton and should do well if picked.

Titus Bramble 0 caps age 23. Newcastle.

A surprise that this fine young hasn't got a cap. Will Kieran be his lucky manager; we'll have to wait and see.

Jonathan Woodgate 11 caps age 24. Newcastle.

Woodgate has more experence then his Newcastle teammate. However his league form isn't good so may make him out of favour with the new manager.

Phil Neville 46 caps Age 27. Man Utd.

Freemantle has a good relaptionship with him. More likely to be the right back for the Scotland match unless there is an injury.

Gareth Barry 14 caps 1 goals Age 23. Man Utd.

A rare thing in English football because he actually has a left foot. Someone that should do well for Man Utd and England.

Wayne Bridge 14 caps Age 24. Chelsea.

A good player that should be key member in the squad. A great future ahead of him.

Neil Clement 0 caps Age 25. W.B.A.

A left back that is surprise to be in the squad since W.B.A only just got into the Premiership.

Sol Campbell 57 caps 1 Goal Age 29. Arsenal.

A player with prenty of experience under his belt. One of the oldest players in the England squad.

Michael Dawson 1 cap Age 20. Man Utd.

This fine young tablet from Nottm' Forest. A great signing for Freemantle and he hopes that he could reflect the same preformive for his country.

Rio Ferdinard 41 caps 1 goals Age 25. Man Utd.

Another Man Utd defencer in the England Squad and one of the best around. He will play a key part in the England Squad.

Midfielders

Steven Gerrard 27 caps 4 goals Age 24. Liverpool.

A key part of the England squad in the past, in the present and hopefully in the future. Liverpool had high hopes for him and they work and now Freemantle has the same hope for him for England

Owen Hargreaves 22 caps 2 goals Age 23. Villarreal (Esp).

A player that has spend all of his career on the continent and should add a flair to the squad. A fair player that Freemantle has in his squad.

Michael Carrick 2 caps Age 23. Chievo (Itl).

The ex-West Ham player now playing his trade in Serie A and doing a fine job at it.

David Beckham 69 caps 11 goals Age 29. Real Mardid (Esp).

The final English player that plays aboard. A great right winger and a shoe in for the starting line-up.

Kieron Dyer 24 caps Age 25. Newcastle.

A player that can play in many postions. Will be useful if he plays well.

Joe Cole 17 caps 1 goal Age 22. Chelsea.

A good player here. Will be hoping to be playing a key part in England's squad.

Kieran Richardson 0 Caps Age 19. Man Utd.

Freemantle will be hoping that he young tablet would be be able to shove England's problem on the left hand side. Time will tell.

Paul Scholes 65 caps 17 goals Age 29. Man Urd.

The second most capped player in Freemantle's England. He plays a key part for Man Utd and plays with and against some of the best in the world.

Forwards

Brett Ormerod 0 caps Age 27. Southampton.

The final real surprise in Freemantle's England. Will he pass the test?

Wayne Rooney 14 caps 5 goals Age 18. Everton (joining Man Utd on 25/10/03).

Scores goals and basically does what he payed for.

Shola Ameobi 0 caps Age 22. Newcastle.

The final Newcastle player in the squad. He wants to be big and Freemantle may have given him the opputune.

James Beattice 3 caps Age 26. Southampton.

A good player and fine striker but may lose out to Rooney and Owen.

Michael Owen 58 caps 26 goals Age 24. Liverpool.

Last and not least Michael Owen. He has worked well with Rooney and should get more goals for Liverpool and England.

England had high hopes for victory today against the Scots, but Scotland have some good players and should at least give England a run for they money.

England dominated the play of game and was just denied goals by the post. However Scotland got the first goal (and they only shoot on target) by a header from Ferguson on the 30th minute.

This spirded England on and attacked with more force and were reward on the 34th minute by goal from Rooney with help from Beattie.

By the second half England were on top (playing wise). It was just luck that Scotland were holding onto a draw. England's Second goal came from Stephen Gerrard with a shot from 20-yards on the 70th minute.

England at the start of match attacked with ease. On the 12th minute Kieran Richardson lobbed the ball over the Israeli keeper and brought England into the lead.

England kept attacking and on the 39th minute Rio Ferdinard was foaled in the area and Richardson scored a penaty and got his second goal.

In second half England and Israel made subtaintions. On the 52nd minute was scary moment for England during a Israeli corner. Carlo Nash saved the ball and Beckham smashed it upfield and into safety.

In the 71st minute James Beattie was brought down in the area. Kieran Richardson had the change of a hatrick: sadly Davidovic saved the ball.

A good result for England in the end.

The game started off badly for England when Kolkka made Neville look like a fool and ran towards the goal. It was lucky that he shot it wide.

However he was rewarded on the 21th minute when he beat past the English defence and made Harper look fooling.

But England fought back and on the 42th minute England got a corner. Beckham swang it in and Rooney got over Okkonen and headed the ball in the back of the net.

England continued to attack against Finland in the second half.

Rooney was about to get a second goal when Niemi kicked the ball to Heinola when he robbed the ball off him and shot from 35 feet.

Again England were held to a 1-nil victory because of the excellent Goalkeeping of Colombia.

Rooney's finishing today was dier. He had many changes to score and blown them all. At half-time he was subbed off for Matt Jansen.

At the 57th minute England got their goal. Jansen crossed the ball to Beckham and he took the shoot. Cordora saved it but Beckham took the rebound and scored.

On the 77th minute Beckham could have had a second with a freekick, but hit the post.

England played better and should have got more, but Colombia did give a good performance.

Football Focus Interview

Ray Stubbs: And live from England's Training camp in Italy, Kieran Freemantle. Kieran welcome to the show.

KF: Thank you.

Ray Stubbs: You're welcome. First of all what do you think are your changes in the Cup.

KF: I think we have a very good change. I admit that some critics may say we are no hopers but I think they are just negative and anti-English.

RS: Well said. As you may of heard from the panel here we have notice some surprises like having Ian Walker and Steve Harper in the squad, but no Michael Owen.

KF: I do this job the way I want. I haven't lose an England game let and I don't intend to start in this tourlament.

RS: I know you are ambitious manager, but your England scores haven't been as great as your club score.

KF: International football is the toughest. I'm not saying club is easy but International sides pick the team possible and obviously the best defence and goalie.

RS: So what plans do you have for the game against Germany.

KF: I have been thinking about it, but I would be stupid to aid it on national team.

RS: Understandable. Turning to Man Utd; what comments do you have to say about John O'Shea smashing you in the Manchester Herald?

KF: John is good player, but I think he handled his problems the worst. I would of easily sat down with him and talk it out with him.

RS: Thank you and good luck in the cup.

But one think in England's favour is the last time they came to Germany the result was 5-1 to they favor.

But at the 37th minute Deisler scored a goal. He was given space and able to score.
