Sussex Hammer
It's a tough old game this 2010. Cannot make the wizard work for me at all so went back to classic and have had some degree of success with West Ham. Started with a deep 4-4-2 with two deep DM's and was doing ok but the football was bland and I couldn't get two strikers to work so about the 30th December mark (on the Results) after I lost to Chelsea 0-2 I swapped things around and tried to design a V Formation similar to what I had a lot of success with in 09. Basically it's 4 at the back with a DM just ahead of them. I then play 2 CM's who are on roam and ahead of those I have 3 up top. One a central striker that is listed in the TM list, but I don't tick use TM and 2 wide forwards who again are on roam. This allows both the CM's and the wide strikers to cover other areas of the pitch. I did try having the wide forwards as attacking wingers but that didn't have the same effect. The only signing I made really for the Hammers was Martin Palermo so this tactic has been used with only the basic West Ham squad you start with. A first season of 5th in the League and a Cup Final appearance means I look forward to using it with better players,,, if I can afford them!!! It doesn't seem to score an incredible amount of goals but 1) the one on one problem doesn't help and 2) My strikers don't have great finishing stats, however defensively it does ok. It's pretty much plug and play as well. I use the same tactic for home and away and the extra tactic I have uploaded which is the attacking version I use if I am losing late on. It has got me back into the game on a couple of occasions. In the new season I may try getting my full backs more attacking for home games. You could try increasing the times your players cross or run with ball etc depending on the players you have. It's not the best tactic in the world but if you are lazy like me and have been struggling this may just give you a starting point. Sussex Hammer
Trying out a few changes as I have bought Almeida up front. Just dragged the two wide forwards back to the RM and LM positions and tweaked crossing and it's going ok. Plenty you can try, I am also experimenting with allowing more freedom for the full backs, I will report back when I know how the tweaking is going.
