Rugby Park, Kilmarnock, Attendence: 14036

Kilmarnock 1 - 3 Aberdeen

Stuart's 100th game as a manager, and he wanted a win wanted a win, and he got once, but not without scares! In the first 20 minutes, the Dons defence were being lazy, letting the Kilmarnock strikers in, but it was Barry Nicholson who got the goal for Killie, before Filekovic made it 1-1 8 minutes later. After that, McGuire seemed to have gotten most of the defence back into shape, even though Lee Wilkie still wasn't impressing, and was taken off at half-time, as was Caballero, Wilkie-Skerla, Caballero-Abeyie, and it seemed to work, Hunt heading in a corner to put Aberdeen ahead. Mbayo got his first goal for Aberdeen on the 77th minute, but by then, we all knew who was gonna win it.

Man of the Match - Marcel Maybo (10) Aberdeen

Aberdeen Scorers - Filekovic, Hunt, Mbayo

Kilmarnock Scorers - Nicholson

Lovely work, Stuart. icon14.gif

Well done on your win in Game#100 and good luck with the Champions League campaign. The away games against PSV and Lyon may well decide your future, assuming you get good results in the home matches.

Champions League, Group E

Pittodrie, Aberdeen, Attendence: 19078

Aberdeen 0 - 0 Lyon

It could of been 2-2, but both the goalkeepers did their job, despite being under a lot of pressure. Lyon were the favourites, but Aberdeen would have none of that, and Filekovic and Eagles could of scored and set up many goals, if it wasn't for Coupet. Coupet lasted the full first half, and Stillie lasted the full second-half, Juninho and Essien couldn't find a way past Stillie. France 0 - 0 Scotland!

Aberdeen 3 - 0 Inverness

Aberdeen seemed to be in fine form, despite not being in control of the match. Inverness just kept shooting at Stillie, but he wouldn't go down, and on the 48th minute, Filekovic was brought down in the box. Lewis Guy took it and scored. After that it took another 30 minutes for Noel Hunt to score, 2-0, it seemed good enough, but not for Hunt, who wanted more, and he got another on the 87th minute.

He has no worries, as they beat Falkirk 3-0. But Falkirk's tactics were dirty, injuring Filekovic after just 2 minutes (The only time his form's been under 7), Clark came on for him, but did not impress. Hunt got his 6th and 7th goals of the season (10 (2) apps, 12 goals, overall) on the 25th and 41th minute. Arthur Gomez got injured on the 45th minute on his debut. Champions League, Gp.E

Delle Alpi, Turin, Attendence: 43249

Juventus 3 - 0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen, missing Filekovic, fell to one of the best teams in Europe, but the underdogs did give Juventus a bit of a scare. Straight after Kick-Off, Caballero dribbled the ball past Thuram, before crossing it in for Hunt, who headed it but Buffon made a great save to stop Aberdeen taking an Early lead. After just 7 minutes, though, Tacchinardi put Juventus 1-0 up. 8 minutes later, Trezeguet made it 2-0. But Aberdeen still put up a fight, with McNaughton being the surprise and nearly, just nearly, scoring, it hit the post and out. Just after Half-Time, Trezeguet made it 3-0, and after a shock loss last week, seem to be back on track.

Aberdeen 1 - 1 Motherwell

Aberdeen were in control in the first half, by half-time they were behind 1-0. Motherwell were in control in the second half, Aberdeen scored to make it 1-1. Aberdeen dropped Hunt in favour for Puustinen, BIG mistake. Caballero was fianlly on course for 50 carrer goals, (3 more) and was looking for goals. Ex-Kilmarnock Striker Templeman, scored after 34 minutes, even though that was just their 2nd shot, and Aberdeen had 10 by then! But 9 minutes after Half-Time, Fabian Caballero scored, to make 48 carrer goals in, uh, 157(16) carrer apps. Motherwell stayed in control, But as soon as Puustinen and Eagles came of for Hunt and Guy, the Dons were in control, but it remained 1-1.

Champions League, Group E

Phillps Stadion, Eindhoven, Attendence: 29634

PSV 1 - 3 Aberdeen

A great game for Aberdeen as they beat PSV to give them 4 points after 3 games. It looked like it was gonna be a deja vu of the Juventus match, Aberdeen taking control, PSV taking the lead, but Caballero put the Dons in the lead after 38 minutes. They lasted until the 55th minute, when Farfan equalised. On the 75th minute, though, Stuart made the smartest move of the match, taking off Hunt and Eagles for Abeyie and Adams, and Adams scored 6 minutes after he came on, to put Aberdeen back in front. PSV's goalie, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, came down for a corner, but McNaughton got it, hit it to Caballero, who shot from 60 yards, and it went in. Stillie made some fantastic saves throughout the match, and was awarded with a Man of the Match award.

Livingston 0 - 2 Aberdeen

Aberdeen took just 30 seconds to get a goal, Fabian Caballero was the scorer, and put his total league goals up to 49. Lilley needed one goal to become Livingston's top scorer of all time, beating Bingham's 43 goals, but just after hlaf-time, Caballero made 50 league goals, and Filekovic and Mbayo once again had a good game. Livingston had no chance to come back, Stillie getting his 7th clean sheet of the season (5 in SPL, 2 in CL).

Pittodrie, Aberdeen, Attendence: 21168

Aberdeen 3 - 1 Celtic

A nearly packed stadium came to see Aberdeen face Celtic, and they weren't dissapointed. Celtic, looking at Caballero's recent performances, decided to try and get him out the game A.S.A.P, and on the 22nd minute, he came off for Noel Hunt, Aberdeen's top scorer. But it was Derek Adams, who replaced Eagles, who got the first goal, Svec setting it up. Aberdeen went 2-0 up after Brain Kerr took down Hunt in the box, Hunt took it and scored his 8th league goal of the season, equaling Hartson's total, which meant that he was also joint-top scorer. Pearson got one back for Celtic, but Hunt, who was looking to go ahead of Hartson, made it 3-1 just before full time.

The first goal came from Lee Wilkie, who hasn't scored since his debut for Aberdeen, back in January, Gardner's corner provided his goal. Gardner went on to set up Suad Filekovic's 81st minute goal, making the ex-Aston Villa youngster someone to look out for.

CL 1st group stage, group E

Pittodrie, Aberdeen, Attendence: 21180

Aberdeen 1 - 1 PSV

A great performance by both sides, which didn't see much goals, but saw a lot of action. As usual, Aberdeen were the underdogs, but they remained to scare PSV. PSV were not as laid-back as they were in Eindhoven, were the Dons beat them 3-1. Just before half-time, despite a good effort by Stillie to stop it, Farfan scored from 35 yards to put PSV 1-0. Puustinen and Gardner came off for Poot and Svec, instantly, Svec seemed to look for goals, but ended up setting-up a dramatic goal. With 3 minutes to go, PSV conceded a Corner, Svec took it, PSV put it out again, 2 mintes to go, Svec took it again, Filekovic headed it in, to keep Aberdeen in 3rd place.

Pittodrie, Aberdeen, Attendence: 20074

Aberdeen 3 - 3 Rangers

The game that could of put the Dons ahead of the Gers in 1st place. But, as you can see, they failed to win. Adams shocked Rangers by scoring after just 3 minutes, Dean Ogg, who has been a star in the Dons U-18 squad, set up the goal. Ogg went on to score on the 9th, before Hunt made it 3-0 after 18 minutes. The Dosn went quiet, and on the 63rd minute, Gardner came off for Eagles, and the BIG mistake, Wilkie came off for Poot, as the formation changed to a 3-3-1-3. After that, McDonald scored a rare goal for the Gers after 66 minutes, then Prso got a goal 7 minutes later, before Burke equalised 9 minutes before the final whistle. Rangers stay 1st by 2 points, but Aberdeen and Rangers both keep their Unbeaten record in the SPL.

Rangers Scorers - McDonald, Prso, Burke

Speaking after the match, Stuart Johnston said that the players were not to blame for the loss, it was his own fault for changing the formation, he said:

League Cup, 3rd Round

Pittodrie, Aberdeen, Attendence: 19028

Aberdeen 3 - 1 Rangers

The two cup favourites, Aberdeen and Rangers, faced each other for the second time in a row, the Dons looking for revenge for the draw a couple of weeks ago, quickly took the lead, Noel Hunt socring after the 12th minute. The Irish international then scored again on the 17th minute, Dons fans hoping this wasn't a repeat from the last match. Missing Filekovic, who got injured during Slovenia's 2-0 loss to South Africa, must of been proud of his replacement, Poot, after he set-up Hunt's second goal, Filekovic style! Adams got his chance on the 50th minute, after Mbayo was brought down in the box, Adams took the pen and scored, 3-0. Ex-Aberdeen and Hearts midfielder, Severin, who has won the Captain's armband in less then a year (Ferguson was sold to Leverkusen for £6million), got one back for Rangers but it was too late. There is one thing sure about who's gonna win the League Cup, it will NOT be last year's winners (Rangers).

Stade de Gerland, Lyon, Attendence: 36075

Lyon 1 - 1 Aberdeen

Lyon and Aberdeen fans got their money worth today, as both teams had chances of going into the next match, 3 points clear of each other. Stillie was determened that the Dons were gonna win, and his performances showed it, it seems the older he gets, the better he gets. But it didn't stop Essien scoring just before half-time. Aberdeen, missing Filekovic, lost transfer-listed Clark just after Essien's goal, he was replaced by Skirla (A lot of tactic moving happened during that move), but it was Noel Hunt that becames Aberdeen's hero, as he equalised on the 61st minute, Coupet dropping the ball, and allowing Hunt get it. Both teams had their chances, Juninho, Lyon's captain, nearly scored a beauty, but it hit the side netting, and McNaughton had two very unlikely shots, both from Free-Kicks, one, from Aberdeen's half, just went over the bar, and the other took a great save by Coupet. Ogg, who came on for Adams, nearly scored the goal that would of put Aberdeen in pole postion to make it to the next stage, Cacapa blocked the shot off the line.

Aberdeen 2 - 0 Hibs

Since Johnston took over, matches against Hibs always got big crowds, and it has produced some great games (7-1 being the best). Now, it still gets big crowds, but only because season ticket holders come to see the Dons beat everyone. And today, it was no different, apart from that if Aberdeen don't lose, they will brake a SPL record for not losing in 19 games! And they didn't look like losers, even though Filekovic was STILL missing. Hunt, SPL's top scorer, got his first on the 36th, and scored again on the 71st minute. Hunt's rival for SPL top scorer, Hartson, failed to match Hunt so he drops down from joint-top to second.

Hearts 2 - 3 Aberdeen

Hearts are quickly going back to what they used to be, the team behind Old Firm, problem is, Aberdeen have turned into what they used to be, title hunters. Aberdeen though, were gonna get a shock. Ex-Aberdeen striker, Wyness, scored on the 12th minute, but Hunt once again scored (13 goals in league, 23 goals overall) on the 13th minute. Hearts were not worried, and for the first time since joining Aberdeen, Filekovic seemed lost on the pitch. Hunt, though, made it 14 goals in the SPL with a great goal on the 32nd minute. Gomez, the Gambian international, showed off the skills he learned at Man Utd, scoring 8 minutes after Weir made it 2-2. Filekovic had one of the worst performances since coming to Aberdeen (7)

Dunfermilne 2 - 2 Aberdeen

Aberdeen have just lost 2 points, as they fight to keep Rangers in touch. The Gers, now 2 points ahead with a game in hand, beat Falkirk 3-0 to go ahead of Aberdeen. Yet, if it wasn't for a certian ex-Dunfermilne goalkeeper, the Dons would still be in the lead. Stillie made a mistake, leading to Cyprus international Angeli scoring his 4th goal since joining the Pars for £350k in the summer. Hunt scored a pen, after Aberdeen's main target, Greg Ross, tripped up Hunt in the box. Hunt scored again, on the 42nd minute, but it went down the drain on the very last minute, when Mehmet scored from 25 yards going over Stillie. Begovic could play in the next game.

CL Group Stage, Group.E

Pittodrie, Aberdeen, Attendence: 21082

Aberdeen 1 - 1 Juventus

Aberdeen, 1000-1 were the odds of them winning, but, they have made the knockout stages, umm, the UFEA Cup that is, after finishing 3rd in the group, but it all nearly went wrong for the Dons. Trezeguet scored on the 18th minute, but Lyon and PSV were still at 0-0, but then Farfan made it 1-0, to PSV. (Juventus - 1st, PSV - 2nd, Lyon - 3rd, Aberdeen - 4th) but Nilmar changed that, and Lyon were back to second, Aberdeen back to 3rd etc. Then two unlikely heroes stepped up, and they both happened to be goalkeepers, Begovic, and Buffon. On the 61st minute (PSV 1 - 2 Lyon) pushed Eagles to the ground, and Hunt had came off after his condition seemed bad. So up stepped the unbeaten, Phil McGuire (3 pens 3 goals) and it was him, and one of the best goalies in the world, (Buffon, worth £30.5m, McGuire, worth £230,000k) McGuire made Buffon go the wrong way as Aberdeen made it 1-1. NOW PSV were allowed to win, but they never did, and, despite being putting a lot of pressure on Buffon and Begovic, none of them got another goal. While Buffon was named the worst man of the match, Begovic, on his 3rd appearance, got his 2nd MoM (Other one in the CL as well) (Before I forget, Adams was sent off a few minutes before McGuire's pen)

Aberdeen 3 - 0 Kilmarnock

21 games unbeaten, ever since April, Aberdeen have never lost in the SPL, but can they make it 1 year (or even better, 38 games) without a defeat, they seem to think so. Begovic was in goals again, winning a no.1 jersey against Juventus. Hunt, once again, opened up the scoring, on the 14th minute. Not much happened till the 63rd minute, Svec off for Poot and Caballero off for Puustinen, once again Stuart's subs became the heroes, Puustinen getting his first goal for the club (Finally!) then Poot scoring his first goal since his debut.

Third place in that particular Champions Cup group isn't probably too bad of an effort, all things considered. I'll be interested to see who you draw in the UEFA Cup - good luck with the new competition. icon14.gif

League Cup Q.Final

Pittodrie, Aberdeen, Attendence: 21178

Aberdeen 2 - 1 Celtic

An old Celtic legend came to Pittodrie, but not to watch Celtic play, but to play for Aberdeen. Henrik Larsson, realised by Barcelona then announced his retirement, came to Aberdeen to play one more match, Stuart and the rest of the SPL (except the Old Firm) want him to play the rest of the season, we will see how that progresses. Anyway, in the match, it took Hunt 11 minutes for Hunt to score, and then Svec scored just before half-time. Hartson scored on the 71st minute, but that was not enough to save Celtic. Larsson failed to score, he hardly got the ball, but still impressed a little. After a recent dip in form, which say 4 straight 7's, Filekovic was made Man of the Match.

Man of the Match - Suad Filekovic (9) Aberdeen

Aberdeen Scorers - Hunt, Svec

Aberdeen will play Sporting CP in the EURO cup 1st Knockout stage.

Aberdeen/Sporting CP will face Liverpool/Banska Bystrica in the 2nd Knockout stage. If Aberdeen do win their match, they will be hope the Banska Bystrica will make it, for 2 reasons:

1. It'll be easier

2. Filekovic comes from Slovenia, so he should play quite well on the away match. But the odds on that happening, 100-1. Liverpool and Banska were in the same group, and the result were:

Liverpool 2 - 0 Banska (In Banska)

Pittodrie, Aberdeen, Attendence: 15275

Aberdeen 2 - 0 Falkirk

Aberdeen fans started to chant Hunt's name at the start of the game, but by the end, it had changed to Larsson. Hunt, once again opened up the scoring, it took him 40 minutes. But on the 51st minute, Henrik Larsson got his first goal for Aberdeen, he still hasn't decided if he's gonna stay or not. Other then that, there wasn't much to talk about.

Caledonian Stadium, Inverness, Attendence: 6473

Inverness 0 - 2 Aberdeen

Henrik Larsson decided he will retire on January, and not on July, but he showed today he still has the skills from the Celtic days. Hunt, for the first time in nearly 2 months failed to score on a SPL match. Larsson, 35, started slow, but started to get better as the match progressed. On the 43rd minute, he showed how well he can still play, scoring a great goal from outside the box. New striker, Graeme Maclachlan (regen) failed to make it on the pitch, and even though Hunt was playing quite badly, Stuart made no changes. Larsson made it 2-0 just before full time, Filekovic set him up. Mbayo broke a club record after the last match, getting 14 assists, he made that 15 this season. Filekovic got another Man of the Match, his 10th of the season, 20th since joining Aberdeen.

Fir Park, Motherwell, Attendence: 9235

Motherwell 2 - 4 Aberdeen

It was clear that some of the players, on both teams, were hungover from the day before, it was Christmas after all, and it showed on Begovic, but he wasn't half as bad as Stillie, who was meant to be playing. Hunt also seemed to be hungover, getting his second bad perfromance in a row. It all started with Caballero's first goal, a penalty on 1.15mins. But Motherwell's star, Templeman (Move to Motherwell from Kilmarnock for £1.1m) scored on the 34th, but a mistake by Dabanovic allowed Caballero score his second goal, a header from 20-25 yards out. He got his hat-trick just before half time. Poot made it 4-1, and he came off 12 minutes later for Gomez, while Hunt came off for Larsson (4-3-1-2 changed into a 4-3-3) But the only difference it made was that Templeman scored just a minute after they came on.

Pittodrie, Aberdeen, Attendence: 15939

Aberdeen 0 - 0 Livingston

A really bad match, from everyone, apart from Livvie's goalkeeper, Cuthbert and the Dons star midfilders, Mbayo and Filekovic. Begovic had hardly anything to do. Filekovic and Mbayo had more chances then the rest of the Dons and Livingston put together (Livingston had 1 shot, it went off target). Mbayo was later named man of the match. Filekovic though, seems quite concerned, saying <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> When we lose points, that gives Rangers more of a chance to win the title, we can't allow that, we need to win all the matches, even if we die, we will push Rangers to the limits. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Tannadice Park, Dundee, Attendence: 14168

Dundee Utd 1 - 1 Aberdeen

More points lost as Aberdeen are quickly losing touch with Rangers. Hunt seems to have lost his scoring touch, while Caballero seems to have got it back. It took Stevie Crawford 36 mins to beat Stillie, but Allan McGregor was the hero, keeping Aberdeen out for a while. As Hunt, once again, put in a bad performance, on came youngster Kiely, and he proverd why theres a lot of hype about him, putting in a brilliant cross for Fabian Caballero, as headed the ball into the net.

Scottish Cup 3rd Round

Pittodrie, Aberdeen, Attendence: 12489

Aberdeen 2 - 0 Falkirk

After losing touch with Rangers in the league, Aberdeen are still in for a (unlikely) treble, as they still are in 3 cups. They only hope to win two, because the UEFA Cup is a bit too much for them. The Dons were going into the match desperately needing a morale booster, and it took a while, but subsitute Hunt, who came on for Caballero 10 minutes earlier, scored two goals in 8 minutes to put Aberdeen through. Suad Filekovic was named man of the match. Stuart said <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> Good win, we really should be able to win this, but we still can't slip up, in the league or in the cups, not including the UEFA cup of course. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Celtic Park, Glasgow, Attendence: 53140

Celtic 2 - 2 Aberdeen

David Moyes will be angry at the fact they were in the lead twice, in a game which should of been theirs. Petrov, whos hoping to leave for £6.25m soon, or £0 at the end of next season, opened up the scoring after just 15 minutes, Stillie hardly moved. Begovic was meant ot be playing, but he's on International duties, playing in the North American gold cup with Canada. Using a new tactic seemed like a good idea to Stuart, but it made Filekovic play bad, really bad, but Aberdeen still equalised after Caballero scored a free-kick, beating Marshall. Celtic's new signing, Anatoliy Tymoschuk, set up Petrov's second goal, on the 62nd minute, which made Stuart furious, and he threw a can of coke towards the pitch. Filekoivc came off for Poot and Eagles came off for Adams, and instantly, Poot scored, his 5th goal for the club, Heikkinen setting him up. Heikkinen was moved into a DMC postion, and it seemed to of worked, as he was one of the best players on the pitch.

Saturday 27th January 2007

Ibrox Stadium, Glasgow, Attendence: 45940

Rangers 3 - 1 Aberdeen

The SPL's biggest ever unbeaten run, is now over. 28 games without losing, the Dons were just 10 games away from a whole season without a loss, yet the day couldn't of started any better. Not only did they sign Rodgerio (21, Brazillian, used to play for Santos) on a free transfer, but they took the lead after 4 minutes, Hunt's 30th goal this season. Hunt's goal though, signalled the end of a good day, and the start of a nightmare. Just 3 minute's after Hunt's goal, Scott Agnew, out of nowhere, got his first goal of the season. Thompson put the Gers in the lead on the 16th minute, before Rogerio's debut was ruined by a yellow card. Rogerio, though, was able to still impress, but other then him, only Stillie and Hunt actually played good, and Stillie is still getting ready to be warming the bench for Canada's no.1 goalie, Azmir Begovic. Prso, scored on the last minute, to give Roy Hodgson's side a 11 point lead over Aberdeen.

League Cup Semi-Final

Hampden Park, Attendence: 21850

Aberdeen 5 - 0 Livingston

After one of their worst months of the season, they couldn't think of a better way, then to destroy Livingston, and thats what they did. New signings Ross (Dunfermilne, £50k + Lee Wilkie + Ricky Foster) and Robertson (Raith, £50k) seemed to fit in easily, especially Ross, who was with old teammates Derek Stillie and Noel Hunt. Robertson came just in time to see ex-Dundee teammate, Lee Wilkie, go off to the Pars. Noel Hunt seems to be back to his best, scoring on the 8th minute to make it 1-0. Begovic, who needed a confidence boost after going out of the Gold Cup, didn't have to do anything, Ross, McNaughton and Heikkinen all worked hard, but captain McGuire didn't. The Dons went on to make it 4-0 before Half-Time, Hunt getting another 2 (24th and 41st minute) while Caballero getting one on the 30th minute. McGuire came off for Abeyie as they changed their tactics, and a bizarre tactic at that. Since Rogerio and Mbayo both play at the MR postion, Mbayo was moved up to the AMR, just so Rogerio can have some experience. Hunt got another goal, thanks to Abeyie, but Filekovic got injured, but their still in a final, and looking to get their first honour since 1996 (League Cup, in the Eion Jess days).
