Match stats and the data have been a problem for at least a couple of editions now. And it really shouldn't be in this state. Data is HUGE for a game like Football Manager so for the numbers to be off and not recorded properly, that should be a big issue. These numbers influence how players play the game and make their decisions in the game.
The main issue I'm reporting is match stats not being recorded properly and can not be trusted.
A player can score an offside goal or hit the woodwork and rather than FM not counting this, it is recorded in match stats as woodwork hit and if the players offside goal was a clear cut or half chance, FM records it as a half chance or clear cut. This then can create a weird situation where a team has 0 shots, but 1 clear-cut chance. A wider issue is that this counts in the data hub and season stats, too. For example, City can have created 100 clear cut chances but now we know we can't exactly trust that figure.
Here (PKM provided), striker Szymon Włodarczyk is offside but scores. This has now created two issues.
1) It has been recorded as a half chance. (but not as a shot)
2) It has NOT been recorded as offside.
That's two incorrect bits of data recorded from just one action.
Now here, as you can see in this image provided by ( @kevaggel ), one place says only two clear-cuts created but in another, it's telling us 5
And here's mine. Joao Felix has created 7 clear cut chances. But on another page it says only 3.
Worryingly, this has been the case for at least a couple of years now. It's hugely disappointing. It shouldn't be the case that someone reports this as a bug. This can't and shouldn't be missed by a tester. And if a tester has reported it, it should be a priority fix given the game is practically played on numbers. I can't imagine this not being seen.
This, I can only guess won't be addressed by the update. I have brought this to SI's attention before. Not exactly this post but about the data in FM and how it's recorded over the years (hence why I keep banging on about a glossary).
It's something that your users/consumers should also be aware of because it really can have an impact on how people play the game and what information they're taking in. (Oh my AMC had a great game with 7 key passes = reality it was only 3).
