Very strange board

I have started several times as Sunderland on FM08 as they are the team I support IRL. I always select in the first season to get a mid-table finish and then I always ask for more transfer funds and more wages. I am usually granted more wages but in about 6 games have never been given extra transfer money.

I started a game today and selected aviod relegation by accident I then though oh well and asked the board for more wages which as usual was granted then I asked for more transfer money. It was raised from £5 million to £13 million.

This is strange how can the board give me more money for less ambition this is twice as much as I would get for a mid-table finish.

Anyone else experienced anything like this?

Because the board want to avoid relegation.

Therefore, if you say you can finish Mid-table, they will be assured they won't be relegated witht he current squad anyway.

If you say you can only avoid relegation, they'll get a bit worried and give you extra.

This makes sense, but is undermned by the fact at the start you get given more for finishing mid-table.
