How to play without Steam after activating on Steam?

I'm sure I have read it on here but did a search and could not find it anymore.

Could someone please explain or provide a link about how I can play the game without having to run Steam first after activating my DVD copy via Steam?

Go to: My Coputer

------> The drive that has your Program Files (usually C)

------> Program Files

------> Steam

------> steamapps

------> common

------> Football Manager 2009

There you should see the shortcut called "fm" (it's picture has a blue background with 09 in the front with orange.

----->Move the icon to your desktop (it should now be fm.exe)

And there you go. Now you should be able to start the game just by opening the shortcut from you're desktop.

Just to make sure, this is for the DVD copy that was just registered with Steam and not for digital download?

I think it works with both. SInce after activating the game it will create all the FM-files needed.

It will work, but fm.exe will be in a different folder (Not Steam\steamapps\common...)

Also just to clarify, you need to right-click and drag the fm.exe icon to your desktop and choose "Create Shortcut here", don't copy (or move) the actual exe file from the game folder to the dekstop.
