INE for signed player

I'm playing as Malmo FF in Sweden, and I just signed Brian Sarmiento from Argentina onto my squad...my highest salaried player, to boot. However, he has an "Ine" next to his name now and it doesn't explain why.

Is this because he's a foreigner? Shouldn't this have been stopped as a Work Permit issue?

maybe its the work permit as most countrys need it for instance

belguim and spain you dont need a work permit

i dont know what sweden is like with foreigners maybe get rid of a few or stick them in reserves

Never played in Sweeden so cant be sure but do they perhaps have a registration window that you have missed or a limit on the number of non eu player you can sign in one season like they do in Italy?

Just started a quick game to check and you are only allowed 3 non-eu players in your match day squad so maybe thats the problem.

I just checked and I have a Nigerian and Brazilian, as well as a Liberian (Swedish nationality) and Gambian (Belgium nationality). So Sarmiento would be my third non-EU guy.

I have a guy from Sierra Leone that I'm going to dump, hopefully that will help.

It won't be due to work permit, since the icon would be 'wp'. Too many non-EU players sounds logical, so try like you said and ditch one (poss experiment first by temporarily relocating him to your U18 squad).

Now that I'm in my first regular season games, he's still got the "Ine." I have two players with "Fgn" icons, but this guy would be the third which is in line with Allsvenskan rules. I tried moving him to the reserves, but he's "Ine" there, too.

Okay, all of a sudden he's gone from "Ine" to "Fgn" and everything is good. I didn't do anything different, it just changed one day. Thanks for the input everyone.
