tlm_77
Just curious about assists and what is an assist, and what isn't. I know it sounds obvious but after watching the West Ham - v - Arsenal match earlier, I saw Arsenal take the lead via an own goal. The cross/shot was turned in by a West Ham defender. Not really seen that happen that often in FM on the 2D engine and have no save games where I could check this, but does the player who hit the cross/shot get an assist? Or, is it purely only if your team mate scores a goal that you get an assist? I suppose it was more important when we had assist bonuses but I would hope that the attacking player did get an assist, even though the defender turned the ball in. Anyone knw the 'official' rule on assists? Do SI use this in the game? What are peoples opinions on the rules / or this in FM.

Team Franchise 2008
Actually, unless its circumstantial, I have been keeping an eye on my AMC assists as one guy seems to get one every match at least, we won 1-0 thanks to an own goal and he was credited with an assist.
