liam_cafc
Hi Guys, need to buy a new laptop which will of course be running FM, Just wondered if anyone could make any recommendations? My budget is up to £1000 but obviously anything less than that would be great, Have been looking at the following, http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/lenovo-z570-15-6-laptop-gun-metal-12377688-pdt.html is anyone able to make a recommendation to something similar ? Thanks!!
Smurf
That laptop is good. But it's similar specs to mine. Except mine is a 17.3 inch monitor. If you wanted to spend £1000 you can get better. PC World might be overpriced slightly. I know some guys here go to Overclockers and some other UK outlets (not from UK myself). I think you can get something even better within your budget. mkjellander
The specs are certainly fine to run FM. Can't say much about the price, as I am in the US. But I'd see about getting something that's not a Lenovo. Generally the build quality is not as good as it could be, but it's a crap shoot whether you get a good build or a bad build (like any laptop). Of the major brands, I'd look at ASUS, Toshiba, or Samsung if you can swing it and the price is not incredibly higher than the alternatives: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/most-least-reliable-notebooks-laptops,9102.html If you're willing to go off the beaten path, look at finding a UK reseller of Clevo laptops. I'd also compare prices between Sandy Bridge ( i7-2xxx series) and Ivy Bridge (i7-3xxx series) CPUs. No reason not to get the 2000-series CPU, but make sure you're saving some money when doing so if the performance is similar.
