jimmyt86
Obviously when you spend time in a different country you are able to gain that nationality and represent that country, e.g. Brazilians playing for Croatia etc. Is this the case for English players playing for Welsh teams, e.g. Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham? The reason I ask is I am managing Wales and wondered whether people like Peter Whittingham and youth players at these clubs would become available for Wales selection or not? askep
The nationality counter just says "Great Britain", but I assume since the teams you mention play in the English league they will gain English nationality rather than Welsh.
jimmyt86
Shame, this challenge for the Welsh team is going to be harder than I thought!! Might run a changed database as a test and see if by placing Cardiff and Swansea in the Welsh leagues would they gain Welsh nationality, either this or someone from SI could help?! aaron1606
The rules are more complicated for British players changing nationality - I believe Welsh players can't become eligible for England through residency - same for English-> Welsh, Scottish -> English and so on.
