Has any one had a refund from Sega yet?

I presume you mean because of the price cut for the PSP download version? - I saw one report indicating someone had the difference refunded to their PSN account but I can't recall the exact post (or indeed the board/forum it was on ...).

I just received a message from Sega saying its not their fault they dont deal with the Playstation Network.

A phone call to Sony hasn't worked either they think the price was £35,99 and now its £29,99 a normal price reduction no mistake.

What the f*** is going on ?

This is ridiculous.

What are you doing to sort this out ?

As has been mentioned elsewhere pricing isn't something which the developers are involved - we have escalated it to the people involved and are as frustrated as you are by things; however hopefully they will be sorted out asap.

- you make the game but aren't involved in pricing ? ... that's ridiculous. The gaming industry has real problems like the Music industry way back when. We need to be able to buy the game direct from the developer but that's a whole different story.

Personally speaking I'm a developer - I've trained over a long number of years to write software, specialising specifically in AI/Gameplay but I'm a bit of a jack of all trades and can turn my hand to most things. The business side of the games industry is not at all something which developers get involved with unless the company is incredibly small.

The development teams (and QA) within SI concentrate on our expected roles; there are different people who handle PR and business tasks - many of these are external to the studio itself (being part of SEGA).

I don't think this is really that unusual or surprising and to be honest if it wasn't done in this manner then the development team would have a lot less time available for making the game as we'd be tied up doing other non-development related activities ....

- That is one of the biggest problems. I'm here talking to you about the game you make and I buy. I dont see the point on the 3rd party. It would be best for both of us to deal with each other us buying the game from you. It would require some restructuring at SI and hiring some people to do the logistics ( and at all developers looking to get out from under the thumb of talentless nimrods ) but it would be well worth it. The sooner this happens across the gaming board the better this industry has problems. The recent release of Gran Turismo 5 proves this beyond all doubt its sickening. This happened in the Music industry way back when the music exec's breaking up an artists albums on six or seven albums so they can get the great half a dozen songs to milk the people that love the product. Then Led Zeppelin turned around to the talentless exec's and said " we dont f****** need you " we can get our music to the people that love it without you. That is why Apple is the biggest music distributor although its expensive per song you can buy only what you want.

... anyway I've rambled enough and you're not paying me to educate you either.

The difference is the process of creating and distributing music has become much simpler these days because of advances in technology to the point where one man in his bedroom can create a hit song. However the opposite is true for games. Gone are the days of the bedroom games developer creating hit games on his own (or with his brother!). These days it takes a lot of man power and money. More often than not games developers are over worked and under payed. Therefore most developers don't have the time or resources to be taking on the business side of things.
