gillsminnow
Wondering what the performance would be like given the following situations: A) Installing FM onto an SSD Drive B) Installing FM on a normal hard drive but having saved games on an SSD drive. Has anyone tried either, what are the performances like?
Scab
The way I understand it the database for an ongoing game resides in memory, so as long as you have sufficient RAM I doubt the harddrive will have any major performance effect outside of save/load speeds. Skin resources are read from disk, but I really doubt that's much of a bottleneck. Someone who owns an SSD can probably provide more definitive answers. peter_fernandez
Yup would be very interested to know if anyone has triewd either or both of the setups and how performance was like?
ldjh1985
I would invest in a better MOBO and high speed of memory, maybe DDR3, like previously said memory speed is more important than hard drive speed in this case!! although SSD will help in loading times. Im currently running a stripped disk and cannot tell any difference between that and my old mirror set-up! Lets just hope one of the HDs doesn't fail lol
RedArrow
From experience the SSD does make a huge difference when saving and running a game....Performance wise i would say it enhances it a little. BUT the upgrade in ram is more preferably properly to 1600mhz ddr3
