Matt ex SEGA
What happens when you try and load it?
ahmufcwafc
Tried this? I can't play the game due to an XML parsing error If you have a shortcut on your desktop you can do the following: Right-click on the FM shortcut. Choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu. In the "Target" field, add the --reset_preferences command line option after "fm.exe", so it should look like this:"C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\fm.exe" --reset_preferences Press OK and then try to run the game as normal, using the shortcut. You'll want to remove the command after you run the game, as otherwise it will continue to reset your preferences every time you launch. If you don't have a shortcut you can make one and then perform the instructions on the shortcut you've made. If you purchased and installed the game through Steam you should be able to find the fm.exe in the following directory:C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Football Manager 2009/ If you purchased and installed the game from a boxed DVD copy you should be able to find the fm.exe in the following directory:C:/Program Files/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/ Other XML Errors First of all you need to turn on hidden files and folders. Go to My Computer and at the top select 'Tools' the 'Folder Options'. The go to the 'View' tab and select 'Show hidden files and folders' Delete the following folder: XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\settings Vista: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\settings This may solve some issues regarding the XML Errors
hamilton162
There is no need to bump your thread after only 10 mins. 1 day perhaps so, but wait at least 30 mins before bumping next time mate
Matt ex SEGA
There's no need to do the mods job for them, either... Stick to trying to provide constructive advice, please - I suspect you'd not be too chuffed with that response were it to you. Cheers.
hamilton162
Sorry Matt, will concentrate on solving problems rather than doing the job of the Mods. But as it is a weekend, the mods don't seem to be around and i thought i would tell him so that in future he knows about it, OK mate

Matt ex SEGA
Well, in that case, I'd suggest; - Updating your graphics card drivers. - Updating your DirectX installation. - Making sure you're patched. If all of that fails, you'll need to contact Customer Services... Cheers Matt
ridiniho
i tried to do the xml parsing and it come up the folder ''C:/Program File/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/fm.exe''-resetprefrences specified in the start in box is not valid. make sure that the folder exists and that the path is correct
hamilton162
oh yeah, you might need to put the applaunch thing in as well. In that case, delete the old code and paste in this: "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 10540 I think that the path for users not using steam is "C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009.exe" -aplaunch 10540 --reset_preferences But i am not sure about this as i have only ever seen it fixed through Steam before, perhaps Matt/someone from SI can confirm this
