Columnarius
When responding to loan/transfer offers, there is a "publicity" drop-down box. It defaults to private, but whenever I choose public, I don't notice any difference. This option has been around in the game for at least the past couple of years and doesn't seem tied to the "someone leaked your transfer offer - it may be harder" message" that is new in FM09. So what does choosing public instead of private do? Cheers.
the toon
It's propably for the benefit of the selling club: Making everyone aware of that offer might tricker the interest of numerous other teams. But then again, if it's a private bid it's hardly a secret then either!
StevenMcD
when a transfer goes public, other clubs start putting bids in and it always raises the price if the player is worth anything. Trying to keep it private is tough
Columnarius
So do you find you drum up more interest in your player you'd like to sell if you either accept, counter or reject an offer publicly?
StevenMcD
only if that player is worth something. Look at it this way, if Chelsea were to make it known that they were entertaining offers for Lamps, every club in the world would go nuts, yet it some obscure club were boasting about selling one of their substandard players it wouldn't mean much. It all depends on the quality of the player
Ljuba82
If you are trying to buy player, better keep it private. If you want to sell player, better keep it public cause other teams may show interest.
