Help me get my striker in the game

As the title suggests I'm really struggling to get my lone striker in the game.

He constantly seems to be too deep and out of position. He also usually gets the ball very deep and ends up shooting from miles out. I was playing 4 4 2 but both my strikers were playing poorly so I've gone 4 4 1 1 to try and get a better link up to my striker. This has worked but my striker still struggles.

I'm using the 5 x 5 framework from WWfan & Millie's excellent document.

I'm playing as Leicester in the Championship.

I'm looking at it and thinking that you're not doing too much wrong.

It's quite possible that because you're playing on the counter and your passing is direct - maybe you need to play with the strikers mentality and forward runs.

What are his assists like?
