Vladis999
2017-2018 Pre-season Results are not important for me at this stage, but 9 matches winning streak is quite good for team morale. And i`m glad that during hardworking summer there was no injures at all. Transfers: I always start with 1st transfer window disabled so no major activity here. But one player is signed for us. To give more depth in left fullback position we signed Brazilian 23 y.o. Zeca. He is Santos home grown and already has one national team game in his baggage. Squad and tactics. Goalkeepers You know who is №1 here. We`ll try to keep Captain as long as possible at the club, but I think it will be not so easy. Defenders The weakest area in the squad imo. Hopes for experience of Mathieu and Coentrao though. Midfielders Good line here. Carvalho, Martins, Fernandes and Acuna are real tops for Portugal league. Wendel is very talented box-to-box. Strikers Experienced line. Both Dost and Doumbia can make difference for us. Montero has returned to the club from two years of vacation in China and USA, but for now he is only 3d choise. Our main tactic is 4-2-3-1. No nonsense here. Roles are based on the best skills of our players. So we are going to play attacking but in the same time balanced football. For tough games we are also going to use more defensively stable 4-1-2-3.

Yes, they were. First of all i`m talking about CL Qualification Playoff. We got the most difficult opponet that we could only get. But we produced impressive football against Liverpool and and showed some courage in a home game when we were losing 1-2 till 64 minute. September was a nightmare for us. 0-4 against Bayern is nothing when we say about 0-4 against Estoril (at home!!!). The only positive moment in this month was a draw against Man U. We didn`t park the bus against Mourinho side and i think it was the right decision because our defence is not impressive. After some tweaks in tactic and two team meetings there was some kind of progress in october but we are still far from optimal form and football that i want to see. Vladis999
N O V E M B E R D E C E M B E R Much better results in this period. Some notable wins: against Bayern and Manchester United in Champions League and against Benfica in Premier League. In CL group despite last victories we are only 3d and will play in Europe league playoff.
Vladis999
JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW Outs: Dost was terrific at the start of the season and interest in him from top clubs is not surprise. Liverpool made a good offer and considering that he is 28 y.o. and it`s probably his last chance to play at the top level, we decedid to let him go. Ins: Felipe Vizeu (5.5M € from Flamengo) Dejan Joveljic (375K € from Crevna Zvezda) Two very talanted strikers. Vizeu is ready for the first team footbal and Joveljic will start in U19 team. Also we reached League Cup Final where lost to Guimaraes in penalties. Not important competiton though.
Vladis999
M A R C H A P R I L M A Y Very frustrating run in Premier Leagues (only 2 wins in 10 matches) dropped us to the final 3d position and no CL football next season. Postive moments are win against Liverpool in EL 2nd knockout round (again, yes) and of course win in Portuguese Cup.
Vladis999
Sporting CP Season summary and squad statistics Player stats (league only!) Goalkeepers Defenders Midfielders Attack Well, this season was a good test for some players, we gave a lot of playing time to our youngsters, and now i can say that we have a core, we have a banch of very talanted players and we know in what direction we are going now to. Of course we need to strength some lines and in some posisitons make more depth. Transfer targets for this summer: 1. Experienced striker; 2. Creative midfielder for rotation with Fernandes; 3. Two fullbacks on the left; 4. One good central defender; 5. One Inside forward for the depth. I`m also going to look through the players who are returned from loans. May be there are some good variants for us there.

Criative
Should have bought Raphinha like in real life. Refael Leao and Bragança are really good players. You can use Leao on 2nd season already
Vladis999
2018 - 2019 Preseason Transfers Out So at the beginnig of the story i said about our plan to reduce the number of players in Sporting CP system. And i think we have coped with this task. As u can see we have sent a lot of players on loan and now we have 28 players in the U19 squad and 25 players in the reserve squad. I suppose it`s enough for giving game practice to everyone. Sadly we can`t keep Carvalho in our team. We turned down offers from Juventus, Man United, Real, Barcelona but Chelsea was more persistent and made the offer we can`t refuse. Good luck to Wiiliam anyway. In Marcelo (free transfer from Rio Ave) Quality defender who is about 8 years is playing in Portugal (6 seasons in Rio Ave). Good passing skills as a bonus. Ismaily (7,5 M € from Shakhtar Donetsk) A good replacement for Coentrao. Ismaily is experienced, fast and have great crossing skills. Ilija Nestorovski (7,5 M € from Palermo) Ilija was impressive in Serie B last season with 19 goals. Agressive forward who knows how to score goals it`s what we were looking for. Anyway he should fight for the place on the field with Vizeu. Diogo Verdasca (2,5 M € from Real Zaragoza) Luka Adzic (525K € from Crevna Zvezda) Uros Racic (950K € from Crevna Zvezda) Andre Almeida (75K € from Vitoria Guimaraes) This very promising prospects will start in the reserve squad. Vladis999
So our squad on 2018-2019 season looks like this: Goalkeepers Defenders Midfielders Attacking players You can see some new names here apart from anounced earlier transfers. They are returned from loans Jefferson (last season in SC Braga), Geraldes (last season in Rio Ave) and Matheus Pereira (last season in CD Chaves) and also Daniel Braganca who was impressive last season in the reserve squad. Tactical approach We are trying to find balance between contol of the ball and creating chances. I want to believe that this approach is what we are looking for. We also make a big job in setting up set pieces. It`s what we missed last season.
Vladis999
A U G U S T 2 0 1 8 Winning against our rivalries in supercup final - isn`t it perfect start of the season? Overall: 4 games - 4 wins. Europe league draw S E P T E M B E R 2 0 1 8 9 wins in a row! Wow! 18 goals scored and only 1 conceded in September. N O V E M B E R 2 0 1 8 And we are still unbeatable. Wins against Sevilla and Rijeka have guaranted us promotion to playoffs from the first place. In Portugal Cup we passed through two rounds and now in one step from quater-final. T A B L E S Notable news: Our youth facilities were upgraded to "state of art" level. Vladis999
2019-2020 Pre Season Transfers Out I`m not going to show loan deals because of huge amount of them. Just to say that we left Palhina on loan to Sevilla. So as you can see sadly we lost our leaders Martins and Fernandes. The offer for Gelson from Chelsea was the one of those offers you can`t refuse. Fernandes wanted huge wage (about 100k p/w) and it`s not in our rules to pay such a big salary even for the key players. I had a dilemma for Wendel. He has very big talent but his manner of play with regular long shots sometimes annoyed me. Also he didn`t blended well with his partners. And finally he lost competition for his place on the field to Battaglia but wanted not less than first team status. So i think it`s right decision for the club and for Wendel. Transfers In Marko Grujic Our replacement for Fernandes. Marko is very good player but it`s really hard to pretend on regular football in such team as Liverpool. I believe that in our club he will rich his potential and become key player for us. Vukasin Jovanovic It was not easy dilemma for us to keep our home-grown Palhinha or to bring in another footballer in pair to Marcelo. Joao is good but i wanted more intelligent player for this position. I think Jovanovic is one of this type players. Victor Yan He is close to "wonderkid" status i think. Very versatile player. I planed to put him in reserve squad but with depature of Wendel he will be second choise on box-to-box role after Battaglia. I also want to mention that we didn`t sign anyone to replace Martins. Podence will be our first choise on the left side with Adzic, who was great for our reserve team last season, as a player for rotation. And here it is some young players who will start from u`19 and reserve squads. Just look at Serban who is only 16 y.o. Reko Silva / Gabriel Șerban Ruben Costa Christian Teixeira So our application for the season looks like: Goalkeepers Defenders Midfield Attack
Vladis999
I edited previous post (it was reserved with no info)...and just wanted to excuse me for my bad english. 2019-2020 A U G U S T Another trophy in our pocket. Like a previous season we started with Supercap match against Benfica and like a previous season we won it! But the first match in the league was awfull. We lost at home to Aves and even can`t scored one goal. Next matches were much better, but the level of our game especially in attack is something i`m concerning about. Top performer: Marko Grujic (4 games: 3 assists, 1 PoM, 7.97 av. rat.) News: CL Group stage draw Very tough group. Tottenham and Roma are better sides on the paper but we will do our best to qualify through this stage.
Vladis999
2019-2020 S E P T E M B E R Two notable matches this month. We had a fantastic start in CL group stage. May be we were a little bit lucky in London but who cares when 3 points in our pocket. Another big match for us was against our rivals Porto. After terrible first half we were losing in two goals but had impressive comeback in last 45 minutes. Top performer: Jefferson (4 games: 2 goals 1 assist 1 PoM, 7.25 av. rat.) News: Luka Adzic made his first international debut against Estonia. And another debut: 19 y.o. Elvis Balde played his first match for the main team against Santa Clara and scored his first goal for Sporting.
Vladis999
2019-2020 O C T O B E R Overall good perfomance from our side in this month, 4 wins against only one loose in CL match in Rome. Top performer: Felipe Vizeu (4 games: 3 goals 1 assist 1 PoM, 7.7 av. rat.) News:
Vladis999
2019-2020 N O V E M B E R Very hard fixtures in this month, especialy in CL where we`ve got only 1 point in 2 matches and now we should do our best in Moscow to gain promotion. It`s interesting that we have chances to finish as first and as last. Top performer: Rodrigo Battaglia (4 games: 1 goal, 7.25 av. rat.)
Vladis999
2019-2020 D E C E M B E R The most important fixture of at least first half of the season - against Spartak in Moscow. And we did it! In very clouse game where we were losing 0-1 and where opponent didn`t scored a penalty and where Podence made a hat-trick. So we finished first in the group but were not so lucky in play-off draw. Our opponent in the first knockout round will be Bayern Munchen. I don`t pay too much attantion to cup games so you shouldn`t be surpriced by two loses as mostly youngsters were involved in this fixtures. Top performer: Daniel Podence (3 games: 4 goals 2 PoM, 8.37 av. rat.) News:
Vladis999
2019-2020 J A N U A R Y We were not so good in january. 3 draws against weaker sides is an expensive pleasure but we are still in the race for the title. Top performer: Daniel Podence (5 games: 2 goals 3 assists 3 PoM, 7.66 av. rat.) News: January transfer window was not so reach for the deals but we have some news: Out Jefferson (850k € to Vasco da Gama). Brazilian fullback was still good enough for rotation despite his age but i have young Costa who is ready for senior team and i think its good decision to give him playing time already in this season. Josip Misic (2m € to Sevilla) Misic was unhappy with his playing time and his wage but Braganca is №1 in the postion of DM so i coudn`t give him what he wanted. In / Nikola Vukcevic (5.5m € from SC Braga) Perfect replacement for Misic (i want to think). Nikola is very solid half-back and he is fully apdapted for playing in Portugal, more than that he has portuguese passport.
Vladis999
2019-2020 F E B R U A R Y - M A R C H Not the best two months for us. Our form droped for some period. Yes, we had no chances against Bayern and it was expected, also defeat against Porto was not surprice, especially on their field. But we lost our points against much weaker sides like Belenenses and Maritimo and let Benfica stable their position at the top of the league. Top performer: Matheus Pereira (8 games: 5 goals 2 assists 3 PoM, 7.36 av. rat.) News: 1. Youth intake this year was really poor for talents. Only one really promising player: Joao Tecelao (GK) 2. Our young striker Pedro Marques surprisingly made his international debut for the national team against Slovenia.
Vladis999
2019-2020 A P R I L - M A Y I`m glad with the football that we played on the finish of the season and of course glad that we will start our next CL campaign from the group stage. Benfica was really great this season so they deserved 1st place without any questions. That`s all. Season summary will be later. Top performer: Marko Grujic (5 games: 2 goals 1 assist 1 PoM, 7.54 av. rat.) News: Board have announced plans to upgrade training facilities (excelent at the moment) and data analysis facilities (good at the moment).
Vladis999
2019-2020 S E A S O N R E V I E W C O M P E T I T I O N S S U M M A R Y Best player for Sporting CP B squad - Rafael Leao; Best player for Under 19s squad - Andre de Castro T O P 5 L E A G U E S T A B L E S S Q U A D R E V I E W Goalkeepers The same picture as in previous seasons. Arsenal has some interest to Patricio, but almost null chances he leaves. And i think about letting 35 y.o. Salin go and strength backup position in face of Pedro Silva who was very solid this season during his loan in Chaves. Defenders A lot of rotation in this line excluding Marcelo. Costa reserved his position in senior squad and has very good chances to become one of the best defenders in Portugal (and probably in Europe) in few seasons. I`m a little bit dissapointed with Jovanovic. He missed almost half of the season due injures and was not so solid in games he had, but his is still young and next season will be very important for him. Zeca had a good season, he fully adapted for the right side and now he is wanting new contract and first team status. Fair enough so i decided to find a new club for Ristovski who was my first choise last seasons and doesnt want to become player for the roration. And it`s a good oportunity for young Correia who has chances to become backup for Zeca. Midfielders Grujic and Battaglia was the players who made difference for us in central zone. And i`m quite happy for young Luis who was impressive in reserve squad in a first half of the season and deserved a chance in senior squad. Attacking players We had some problems in attack this season so i can`t say i`m totally happy with players who are in charge to create chances and score goals. May be it`s time to say goodbye to Acuna cause he wasn`t adapted well for IF role and overall was very average on the field. But i`m happy with our young players Adzic and Marques who are now becoming more and more important for the team. F I N A N C E S
