  1. File contains playable realistic leagues: Primeira Liga Segunda Liga Campeonato Nacional de Séniores 1ª Divisão Distrital de Portugal (regional leagues) 2ª Divisão Distrital de Portugal (regional leagues) 3ª Divisão Distrital de Portugal (regional leagues) 4ª Divisão Distrital de Portugal (regional leagues) The file is pretty "heavy" and it takes time to load in game or editor. Be patient. I recommend to use the following options at the start of the game: - Add players to playable teams If you see an error or have a question, write it in the comments. Also if you like my work that I do completely for free you can appreciate it by visiting our forum and become VIP https://www.fmportugal.org/index.php _FMPT Distritais V2_.fmf
  2. A Wish For Santa: The Azorean Dream For my next FM save I've decided to delve into a country that I've barely touched on any FM. C.D. Santa Clara are based on Sao Miguel island, the largest island within the Azores. Being based in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean they are the westernmost top flight club in Europe, therefore one of the most isolated (Maritimo are on Madeira island to the south-east of the Azores). The Club: C.D. Santa Clara With a basic setup, Santa Clara are definitely over-achieving. This is the club's third stint in the top-flight having had two short-lived previous spell in the early 2000s. A 10th place finish last season is the club's best ever finish and a great foundation to build on, though we should be wary of being dragged into a relegation battle after being predicted to finish 15/18. Aims of the save are: Compete with the 'big boys' of Portuguese football and eventually win league and cup titles. Win the Champions League Whilst not strict, have an ethos of bringing through young Azorean players, ideally having 5+ graduates in the lineup when we can produce adequate quality.
  3. I know that following the title people will expect us playing with Celtic (they made the Lisbon Lions phrase famous), but no way Jose I am playing in the awful Scottish League. Actually, I haven't yet picked the team, but just the general idea of the challenge - which is achieve success (as much as possible) while only using players from Lisbon (Portugal). As I play my saves on FM Touch, restricting to a single city and with the small youth intakes might be a little to restrictive, that is why I have extended the rules to the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (pictured below) and players produced at the club. That is an area of roughly 2.8 million people, so will give me even with a small database a nice option of players to chose from going into the seasons. Of course, there's always the easy path of doing this with either Benfica or Sporting (sorry if you native Portuguese call them different, that's how we say it here in Romania), but I will find no joy in doing that and starting so at the top (at least for Portugal, as the two are part of the big three together with Porto). So what is left now to do is to pick another interesting club with decent enough facilities and strong basis for a mid- to long- term adventure (unless I get the sack in the meantime). So far the candidates are (not exhaustive, might have missed some clubs available in the area): Primeira Liga Belenenses SAD - Not actually the real club anymore, that is in 4th league with the fans, so pretty plastic club to be now. Vitoria de Setubal - Strong club, nice stadium and facilities, been struggling a bit lately, would I be a bit to easy? Liga Pro Casa Pia - The only club in the 2nd division actually in Lisbon. Recently promoted and destined to go back down (irl also). Cova da Piedade - Dull club, facilities and a name a little to long for my liking (haha). Estoril - Maybe the best pick out of second league (predicted 2nd), not long ago a regular in Primeira Liga with even some top 5 places. Mafra - Not a lot to say about them, predicted 3rd from last, but I do love the color scheme (green on yellow). Vilafranquense - Another club recently promoted and predicted to finish last by the media in season preview. Campeonato de Portugal Oriental - The only one found in Lisbon, a nice project to embark on. Sintrense - Gotta love the castles from Sintra. Amora - A bit of tradition, fallen down hard. Alverca - Same as above. (There are a lot more clubs here in 3rd league which could be available but none sparked my interest). Now the hardest part in FM, which is picking the club. Let the multicriterial analysis begin in Excel (any suggestions welcomed).
  4. Coimbra is the fourth largest city in Portugal after Lisbon, Porto and Braga, a major cultural centre mainly due to oldest academic institution in the country, the University of Coimbra. While incubating young minds and safe guarding many cultural traditions they city has always been lacking one important Portuguese passion - a decent football team! Académica de Coimbra have a fairly inauspicious history with the exception of a runner up finish in the Primeira Liga once back in 1967, they now reside in LigaPro the Portuguese 2nd Tier. They do have a couple of trophies to their name two Taca de Portugal cup wins in 1939 and more recently 2012. This is my first career story although I am a long time FM player, my journey will be to see if I can turn this quiet town of boffin heads into sports crazy jocks as their football team returns rightfully to their place in the top tier and then attempts to wrestle power from the all too dominant Big 3: Benfica, Sporting and Porto. Can Académica de Coimbra win back to back Primeira Liga Championships and call itself the dominant force in Portuguese football, I guess we'll see and the attempt will be documented here.
  5. Hello. My name is noikeee, I am a veteran virtual football manager of this forum, and after many adventures in the past, am now back after a Guardiola-style sabbatical of several months, in which I've been silently swallowing my vicious hate for the horrendously frustrating FM19 version of the game taking a break from the game to refresh myself. I am now a recent convert to the delights of FM Touch, where you can just ignore tons of pointless BS in the main game and just play some ****ing football. I've also recently hit the mall and bought a dope jacket. feeling cute, might delete later, idk I am feeling energized, ready to rock and roll and have decided that the perfect spot to get back to FM is a one-club career (at least this is the plan at this stage?) at the place that's dearest to me, the island I've lived my whole life. This would be an island that's worldwide known for its incredible landscapes, its sweet wine, flora and fauna, superb moderate weather awful statues of Cristiano Ronaldo. Football-wise, apart from the legendary talent and ego that is Ronaldo which completely overshadows any other footballing fact from this rock in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, two clubs stand out: Marítimo, the most successful club from the island who I have casually supported all my life, and those arseholes Nacional who are their main rivals, mostly known for a bizarre ultras section of middle aged women and their completely not dodgy at all president. But wait, there is more. You might not have heard about it, but there is a THIRD club from Funchal. I know, shocking, this is a fact that completely flabbergasts people. In fact this club is so unknown that back in 2006, at a particularly difficult time, this dramatic based-in-real-life documentary was shot depicting the life of its last standing fan: We are, of course, talking about CLUBE DE FUTEBOL UNIÃO, better known as União da Madeira. A yo-yo club which has largely been bouncing between divisions 2 and 3 of Portuguese football, it wildly reached the heights of the top tier back between 1989 and 1992, then again between 1993 and 1995, and then, sensationally, 4 years ago in 2015... only to fall back down immediately. And down again. It's back to tier 3 now. Only one piece is missing in this introduction to this career, which I need to hurry because it's bloody late here and I'm badly missing some hours of sleep. My secret weapon, my cunning plan that I've preparing in my basement to take over the world. The tactic that's so evil that actually made me enjoy FM19. I present to you, Champagne Football: The details have been explained in depth in the tactics forum - but basically the idea is to play ridiculously attacking football, with direct penetration coming from the wingers and pacey forward, then supported by lots of central players (3 nominal midfielders + a duo of IWBs) that ensure we get loads of passing options and dominate the centre of the pitch, whilst at the base we are supported by two wide open ball playing CBs, split by a half-back, letting us easily build from the back, starting all the way from the sweeper keeper. It's a funky system that demands loads from every player, as essentially every single player has some sort of dual role to play, which sounds like a horror story for a limited third tier side like this, doubly so given this is a club that was recently known for playing some really dull defensive football. But hey I like challenges, and what better one that to turn this unknown lot into top class entertainers? Actual game play will come some other day as I haven't even looked at my squad yet. Vamos União da Bola!!
