Winto
So I found a fantastic regen, see attached, from Russia. Sadly no work permit available, but I get him in at 18 and he will crucially be homegrown according to his info after being with the club for 3 years. As you can see, now 19, having played in 20 matches for Russia (ranked 42 in the world), and despite being clearly a top talent, still has not played enough games for his country apparently. As you can see, he made his international debut 2 years ago, and has probably played in every match since. How can it be this hard to get the work permit for a player like this? And now, where it used to say he will become home grown, it is now blank. So can you only become homegrown in you have a work permit? So is there no benefit to keeping a young player at the club to gain home grown status unless they have a work permit?
SI Staff Olly Kenney Posted February 24, 2017 SI Staff Share Posted February 24, 2017 If a player does not have a work permit then it is not possible for them to gain home grown status. There is an issue where some players who should qualify for a work permit are being denied one, this is something that we are aware of and are looking into.
