  1. It was regarding signing a player from Germany and I tried everything out of interest as to why he would sign for Chelsea who have not been in the top 4 in ages and is in the Europa League. In the end I offered same conditions and a higher salary but he still chose Chelsea. Also happened with another player from Mexico who chose Newcastle (Conference League) over Barcelona. It actually seems like many players are not interested here just a few months after Barcelona won the Champions League. Maybe because the salary cap just got lowered from 5.5M to 3.9M p/w?

Anyway I am quitting the save. I cant register the newly promoted B team as the salary cap is 91.000 p/w in the 2nd division. Yes thats 91.000 for the entire squad.

  2. I am playing Barcelona and for the season 34/35 and it was just  announced that the maximum amount of non eu players will be decreased from 3 to 2. This will force me to sell a non eu player. One thing is that I find such a change very weird, another thing is that it also seems very un logical considering that Spain is considered a gateway for many southern american players.

Has anybody else experienced this or is this an unfortunate "bug" in the game?

  3. Thanks for the answer ... and thank god they corrected that. Any news about how newly built stadiums look would also be appreciated. I always fond it a huge disappointment how your brand new stadium looked. Just no soul whatsoever with a desolate apocalyptic background showing in all 4 open corners. Why on earth chose that kind of design as the default new stadium look??

My PC with 7th gen 7700hq processor 8gb ram and 1550ti loads a lot more than this. And play on high detail level.

Out of interest.... How many Countries and how many players do people normally play with? I load the most important leagues in Europe + Argentina and Brazil (11) and have places like Scandinavia, Turkey, Russia and Serbia run in the background. This was 52.000 players in FM20.

Is there a huge difference loading more playable Countries?

Apologies if my previous reply came across a bit snooty or whatever.

But I never said someone shouldn't buy a Mac - I'm 100% behind buying a Mac if it makes sense for the user.

If the only use is basic internet, netflix and playing FM - then it's a lot of money.

I hope I explained myself and my motives enough for you to understand - I'm not slating Apple.

Just their pricing model. They are very expensive for what they are.

I use a windows laptop for work and a macbook air at home. For work I much prefer a windows laptop and for entertainment purposes I much prefer my nimble Air at home. Use to be a windows only guy but that Macbook Air is just a great little machine which makes the windows laptop seem clumsy and I have no need for a tablet. Horses for courses I guess.

    Hi guys,

Thanks for setting up such an excellent and helpful forum.

I'm not very technical when it comes to these things but wanted to possible get back to playing FM rather than FMMoble and wanted to know if my laptop will handle FM21 before splashing out £35 and it doesn't.

    I have a MacBook Air Retina 13" 2019

1.6 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 (this may not be enough from what I gather but would 1 country work?)

    8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3

Intel UHD Graphics 617 1536 MB

With currently 42GB of 120GB free

One country (of leagues) will be fine for me if that's all it'll handle (obviously would prefer more) and I prefer the 2D match option than 3D (I'm a little old school in that way).

    Appreciate any advice!

    Thanks,

    Bryce

I have the same Mac but with 16GB ram and played FM 20 with 11 loaded Countries and 52.000 players. Graphics at low resolution. I found it fine to play on.

Sunderland as always. I shall not stand by and let an oil funded state gift trophies to Newcastle as long as I live.

I was thinking either Sheffield Wednesday or Sunderland as they are former champions needing two promotions to get back into the big league. After what happened in Newcastle I think it has to be Sunderland though. Your biggest rival being the richest club in the World and two leagues above you .... that is the kind of underdog game I really like. Reminds me one of my favorite saves when Man C where in league two and Man U was winning everything. Ah that feeling of finally surpassing your arch rival after many years of hard work ..... blessed.

If there werent these kind of massive clubs playing in the third tier..... I would look at Germany were there are some huge clubs in the second league needing a rebuild.

Off the top of my head, from CM99/00:

    Kennedy Bakircioglu

    Zlatan Muslimovic

    Andri Sigporsson

    Simon Davies

    Matthew Etherington

    Sharbel Touma

There were many more, but these were my 'go to' players that I would try and sign every time I started a new save.

Wasnt Ibrahimovic also one of the great Swedes around this time? I might even have had all the above players in a team at some point.

Ronaldinho should also be added as wonderkid of the past. I remember him being a must buy at some time when he was still playing for Gremio.

  9. Was just visiting this site to read about this topic. How 21 compared to 20, which I found more a chore than a game. (Of course until you have finally assembled the best team player for player and it got very easy)

Do wingers still wait for the defender to catch them so they can block their cross? Do you still need a vast amount of chances to score goals compared to the AI? Clear cut chances being wasted to an unbelievable extent? I hope some of these things where fixed.

But most importantly my question would be. Did it get easier to spot and did you have more tools available to dissect exactly what was not working and what was working in your tactic? Especially in the lower leagues I found it extremely frustrating that you had no idea what tactical changes you needed to make.

  10. After a half years hiatus I took over Arsenal. The youth players that came in before my arrival are considerably better than the youth players currently coming in during my reign and also the ones from my Not F save. Seems more than a coincidence. Could it be to balance the game so if you are the dominant force you will not also be blessed with great academy players?

Have you played him as a AM? He is already comfortable playing there, and becoming natural at it takes a long time, but shorter if he plays there.

Yes, he is actually only playing as AM. He has occasionally been up front but never done well there. As he is not natural AM he is rated 1.5 stars better as a forward than midfielder.

  12. This player has been re training position to attacking midfielder for two years and there has been no change whatsoever. Is this a glitch? Should I train him as an attacker for some weeks and then change back to attacking midfielder again? It seems like its not registering that he is being retrained.

  13. He did have a better 2nd season, where he did reach the label world class. ( I have read that ability compensates weak attributes, so thats why I would take a chance on him. Also when I took over Arsenal not many players were that interested and I just needed an instant improvement ... NOT)

Most of his goals were headers and I do believe he he must be the player that has squandered the most shooting chances ever since I began playing the flawed FM20 version. I retrained him to not run down left and and now hoping that placing shots will decrease the number of clear cut chances he misses. Having said that Real Madrid is interested and if they offer like 80MM he is gone in an instant. :-)

Unfortunately I need to loo into a center back starter and a left back reserve before I can look into replacing him as starter. Lets see, the transfer window just opened.

We are not saying he is bad, but perhaps he played as a striker at his former club. Or perhaps his role was completely different (as well as the tactic in general). If you want another example, see Wijnaldum for Liverpool vs Wijnaldum for Holland. Same player, but looking at goal/assist/chance output it's completely different due to different roles. He is not a bad player, I'd say he isn't worth anything near what he cost, but you need to take advantage of what he CAN do, not expect him to do what he CAN'T. He is quick, but can't cross very well, nor dribble. His passing is subpar, and his finishing is only acceptable. That's why I suggested a AF role, perhaps next to a more creative striker who can give him opportunities to use his best skill, his speed and first touch. He is a player who loves a counter, so in order to let him use that skill, you need to make sure it happens.

No he always played AML, scouted him for quite a while. Dont expect him to be any creative force, but be the quick threat cutting in from left wing. Guess I just have to be patient and see if he doesnt settle in eventually. His previous performances for Spain and Hertha justify more than what he is doing now.

  15. I dont really understand the comments about him not being good enough. 30 matches, 14 goals, 9 assists and 8 POM. Highest average rating two last years, most POM two years running and top league goal scorer last season. And he has been improving every single year. On top of that 10 goals in 19 games for Spain. Always playing AML for both Hertha and Spain. I am not saying I expect him to be the best player in the World, but going from there to rock bottom is not natural.

You just have to disregard all that cause it takes more to play in the premier league and its natural for him to be the worst player in your team now?

  16. No his attributes are not the best, but ability does affect attributes and he clearly has a high potential ability. It just doesnt make sense that he can play brilliantly for Spain and Hertha but literally be the worst player in my team. As you can see has had a very good progression for Hertha and was clearly the best player for them his last season.

Some points: He also has cut inside from left as PPM. He was placed on AML for both Hertha and Spain.

The only thing I can think of is that I possibly announced that the price tag doesnt necessarily but extra pressure on the player during the introduction press conference.... I know I sometimes do that. But I have also warned him quite a few times that he has to step up his game if he wants to keep his place.

I have experienced before that players can have a season dip and then come back. But this is my record signing I though would take us to the next level but he is not even an average player for the team.

  17. I dont understand how my record signing who was the best player for the Bundesliga champions can become the worst player of my Arsenal team. Tried playing him both as an inverted winger and an inside forward, but he is consistently the worst player on the field. I was thinking he might just have bad adaptability but after almost an entire season I am beginning to believe it will never get better. Can it be he just has a complete offseason? He is after all still rated as a leading premier league player. Does such a thing happen?

  18. 1) Lightening fast wingers (or fast wingbacks) 5 meters in front of the nearest defender waiting waiting and waiting to cross, until he gets blocked by a defender with half his pace.

    2) Possession! How can mediocre teams have 60% against you and you simply cant get the ball off of them no matter how you play. Happens too often. Possession I find quite strange in this game. Yes I understand against top clubs sometimes ... but not teams far inferior to you.

    3) Playing cautious, slow down pace and time wasting and the team hoofs the ball clear with no danger in sight.... all the time.

    4) Winning the League, Champions League, FA Cup and League cup two years in a row and haven't once had an A from the board in that time.

    5) Random goals coming out of nowhere. This was something that happened by far the most in the lower leagues when you started out and continued until you built a very good team. I wish I had known that the AI is incapable to naturally show you why you are conceding goals. Because of a mathematical formula, it is decided that you have to loose points in a certain game and the game will do this at random. I would have enjoyed the game so much more if I had know that this is the way the game shows you that your team is not quite good enough yet. Don't try to make any sense out of it! It will almost not happen anymore once you build a world class team.

    6) By far my biggest hate is stadiums. This element is so awful I don't know where to start. Having a new stadium built or a stadium expanded is for me an absolute highlight of a manager career. You are looking forward to this a (game) year in advance and when it finally happens it is the biggest let down. If the stadium is finalized in the summer break it can even take months before you even see your new stadium. Not that there is much to see, as your 55.000 capacity stadium is 4 stands with a dull dystopian looking suburb showing between the open corners. (a stadium with open corners????) After an expansion the stadium showed no change whatsoever .... still open corners. For me personally it would take so little effort to massively boost the user experience of the stadium changes. I mean .... not even a small introduction to what will now be your new fortress? If SI insist on having no interesting graphics whatsoever included in-game .... then maybe just some information how your stadium ranks compared to others in terms of capacity and facilities? Imagine what a small video could do? Imagine having an introduction like in the below link below on the date the stadium is announced or finalized. It could revitalize your excitement for your save completely.

Question: I requested a stadium expansion 2 seasons ago as the stadium had been sold out for many seasons and it was denied because of finances. Since then the option to request has not been available even though the club has plenty of money. Will it appear again sometime?

  19. I am new to the later editions of FM but remember that once you had created a team that made you champions, it was pretty much given that you would win the league every year after that. Cup games where a different thing, but over a complete season your team would always be so strong that you would come up as winners. Is this still the same in FM nowadays?

I won the league two years running and then suddenly lost to a Man U who had the most incredible run. The first 3 years the points were very close at the top end of season though. Last 4 years however, I have won pretty convincingly as the team just gets better each year and its hard to see anyone narrow that gap.

I must admit that I actually liked (although frustrating) that a team could manage to beat me after having become champions the first time. That never use to happen and just added to your motivation to build an even better team. It also looks better in the history of the league to have that occasional team have a great season and win... as long of course as you dominate most of the time. :-)

Last two years I have won pretty much everything. League, cups and champions league. Now after buying the best striker in the World from Chelsea, the team has again taken a step up and now I have two absolute world class players in every position. Once you have reached that level... is it possible for an AI controlled team to build a team that can challenge you?
