  1. Kelty Hearts - Scotland Starting this challenge with Kelty Hearts in Scotland. Surgery is one week today, so using some spare time before hand to get things set up and organised, so i can jump into it properly post-op. My Profile - first time i've used the 3D photo game face a la Fifa, and it was too funny to change Club Profile Club History Excited to get started, never tried the challenge in my homeland. Wish me luck!!
  2. Currently holidaying in Scotland (exciting times) with a view to starting this challenge. Havent been able to commit much time to FM the last few years, but about to undergo some major surgery, and will have LOTS of time to get stuck into this. I like the look of the Kelty Hearts project, but not sure whether thats where i'll stay or whether to try Portugal (somewhere i've never played before), so i'll keep you posted on what decision i make
  3. congrats on avoiding relegation PaulHartman71, hopefully you can kick on this season
  4. 2015-2016 - End of Season Review AD Marco 09 Squad | Transfers | Finances So, as previously stated, we endured a torrid start to the league campaign, which meant by the end of the first phase of the league we were well and truly in amongst the relegation battle. However, the switch to the relegation phase coincided with an upturn in fortunes, and ultimately we were comfortable enough in the division. National Championship First Phase National Championship Relegation Phase Player-wise, there is a serious lack of real standout talent in the squad, with the majority of my signings this season made merely to fill positions, and try and add some depth to the squad i inherited. With that being said, the main man without question was Ricardo Ferreira, without whom we would undoubtedly have struggled. 25 goals in 32 league apps was a fantastic return. The only other notable player worth mentioning was Marcos Freitas, who contributed 9 goals and 8 assists from left wing. Going forward, the recruitment drive is already well and truly under way; shifting the dead weight and trying to find some actual quality may prove difficult, considering our current financial state, but i am determined to put up more of a challenge this coming season. Fingers crossed!!
  5. Brief progress report from myself... After what seemed like the worst possible start to life in the National Championship, only winning 1 of our first 10 league matches, things have taken a tremendous turn for the better at AD Marco 09. Our poor start left us in 8th after the first stage of the league. However, we are now flying, only losing 1 of our last 11 matches, and so sit in a healthy 3rd place in the relegation stage table. Thanks, largely to this man...Ricardo Ferreira, who has been a revelation up front, with 18 goals from 20 league starts. Hopefully this form can continue through to the end of the season
  6. I appreciate the support, wish i shared your optimism
  7. good to see you've turned a corner PaulHartman71. Sadly, ive made a terrible start to my season, only picking up 7 points from my first 11 matches. Its going to be an epic job to keep this team from going straight down
  8. Been a while since i've competed in any challenges, so im looking forward to getting back into the swing of FM after a hiatus, and think ive found the ideal project to take on for this challenge: AD Marco 09 2015-2016 - A New Beginning Futebol Clube do Marco was founded on 25 May 1927. In 2000, it reached the second division for only the second time, being relegated at the end of the season, but immediately gaining promotion back. During four consecutive seasons, Marco competed in the second level. In 2004–05, it achieved its best ever position in the league, finishing in fourth position, nine points behind last promotee C.F. Estrela da Amadora. In the following campaign, the club ended its Portuguese Cup run with a valliant display against eventual winners and national powerhouse F.C. Porto, losing 0–1 away. On 27 September 2007, with Marco already in division three, the Portuguese Football Federation punished the club with relegation, suspension from all activity for two years and a fine following failure to appear in four league games. A new side was created in 2009–10 as Associação Desportiva de Marco de Canaveses (AD Marco 09 for short), competing in the Porto Second Regional Division, and achieving promotion in the first season. And so, this is where i begin... Manager Information Manager Profile Team History Team Profile Team Information Squad
  9. starting to really hate my board, accepting any bloody offer that comes in...having lost Souza and Jacobs last season, im about to lose Nene, one of the stars of last season, as the board accepted an 875k offer over my head, and hes just agreed terms with them...wouldve been slightly easier if i had him for the full season, but instead hes moving in January
  10. Well the Atletico Madrid games didnt go as well as the previous, drawing 4-4 at home, before being hammered 5-1 in Spain on the bright side, our european adventure continues in the Euro Cup Group Stage, where we've been drawn with Werder Bremen, Rubin Kazan and Athletic Bilbao...cant realistically hope for much more than a much-needed financial boost
  11. our home leg against Lokomotiv Moscow saw us come out 4-0 winners, so our 10-0 aggregate win sees us progress to the Best Placed Playoff, where we've been drawn against Athletico Madrid! Sure to be a very difficult match but exciting stuff!
  12. so...it seems i may have somewhat underestimated my team. Our first journey into European football saw us travel 2,273 miles to play Lokomotiv Moscow in the Best Placed 3rd Qualifying Round, which ended like this, undoubtedly the biggest result of the clubs history to date!! Aside from a major collapse in the return leg our adventure will continue
  13. so we've been drawn in the Best Placed 3rd Qualifying Round of the Champions League against Lokomotiv Moscow...i fear our first experience of european football may start and end with this game, but time will tell...we have been good in pre-season so you never know
  14. Ac. Viseu - 2017/2018 - End of Season Review Manager Profile Team Information Transfers Predicted Position: 12th Actual Position: 2nd Average Attendance: 7833 Season Ticket Holders: 1390 Taca de Portugal: A good run saw us defeat Operario Acores, Braga, Oliveirense and Leixoes on our way to the semi final against Benfica. Unfortunately, they proved too strong for us, and despite winning the home leg 2-1, we were hammered 4-0 in the return, bringing to an end our hopes in that tournament for another year. Portuguese League Cup: Unfortunately we finished 2nd behind Porto in our group which saw us crash out of the League Cup early on. League A tremendous season saw us challenge for european places from an early stage and hold on to finish 2nd in the league and qualify for Best Placed Third Qualifying Round. Sure to a test for our squad but exciting times at Ac Viseu! A brief look at the main players of the season: GK Souza - vastly improved this season, only conceding 35 goals in the league opposed to 63 the year before. Sadly leaving for Sao Paulo so finding a replacement will be job number one on my agenda next season DEF Alisson - not quite as influential as last season but still a permanent fixture at RB Marvin Grundei - useful at CB and RB, proved an able partner for Tavares at CB for most of the season Leonel Jakson - edged out by Grundei but a handy backup Ricardo Tavares - another consistent season for the main man at the back, although the position could probably do with some investment for next season Raphael Simon - still not really living up to my expectations, but solid enough. position may be under threat if Casadei continues to improve Omar Casadei - the next Federico Balzaretti. brought in as cover for the LB position due to Simons ongoing fitness issues, useful coming off the bench MID Dionatan Teixeira - now the only player remaining to be a regular in the first team since my first season in charge, and continues to pop up with some vital goals, scoring 10 this season. A cult hero for me Ruud Jacobs - one of the stars of the season. bossed the midfield on many occasions. 20 assists and 7 goals from CM is pretty special. shame he's on his way out, but proved difficult to keep happy from day one. will be missed Boris Nkoa - used as cover for the DM position, not going to improve any but useful enough squad player Ramzi Loucif - another who could step into Jacobs shoes Kevin Krieger - hopefully the player to cushion the blow of losing Jacobs, became a part of the first team as the season progressed and showed enough for me to have faith he can continue to impress ATT Mohamed Kante - was on the edge of things all season, but never really able to break the formidable front 3 unless covering for injuries/substitute. scored a few vital goals though and could continue to push for a start next season Nene - the left side of my front 3, with 18 goals and 18 assists, was a vital part of the teams success this season. attracting a bit of attention from other clubs, so hopefully we can keep hold of him Ahmed Sayed - another great season for Sayed, contributing 22 goals and 9 assists from the right side of my front 3. Great start to his international career as well, scoring 5 in 5 apps for Egypt Per Kjaersgaard - what a season yet again for the main man up front. eclipsed last seasons goal tally with ease and in doing so became the clubs top league goalscorer of all time, surpassing Jean Silvas 47 league goals in just 2 seasons! My player of the season no doubt, the top scorer in the Premier League, the League Forward of The Year, and recently called up for the first time by the Danish national team. Top Scorer - Per Kjaersgaard - 33 goals Highest Average Rating - Per Kjaersgaard - 7.72 Fans Player of The Year - Per Kjaersgaard Portuguese Premier League Top Scorer - Kjaersgaard - 1st, Sayed - 3rd Portuguese Premier League Most Assists - Jacobs - 2nd, Nene - 3rd Portuguese Premier League Forward of The Year - Kjaersgaard - 1st, Sayed - 3rd Portuguese Premier League Manager of The Year - Garry Maltman - 1st Portuguese Premier League Team of The Year - Kjaersgaard Portuguese Most Improved Team of The Year - Ac. Viseu Moving forward, these are exciting times for Ac Viseu. Our first foray into European football will no doubt be a challenge, and one im not expecting much from. In league terms im not sure how easy it will be to replicate the success of this season, but i feel that with a few new faces and hopefully some funding to do so, we can continue to at least challenge for european places. The one thing im not sure about is whether we can close the gap ability wise on Porto, as they were the only team to beat us in every encounter last season. This could be the most difficult part of the challenge for us. 15. well done on the league title rlipscombe. Im sure that in the coming years with domination of Germany, the european glory cant be too far behind in Ac Viseu news, last years star man Per Kjaersgaard has, with 8 league games remaining, already broken his own club record for goals scored in a season. It has been an incredible season by all accounts, which sees us sitting 2nd, just 4 points behind Porto. With 8 games left its all to play for. Wish me luck!! EDIT: In more less-exciting news, the chairman has decided to go above my head and accept an offer of 1.1 million from Sao Paulo for my first choice GK Souza...having improved significantly this season, losing him will be a major blow
  16. yeah generally in my experience thats what happened...the odd thing is his status said he was determined to prove his worth to the team, yet at the same time he requested a mutual termination of his contract on a few occasions. The only plus to come from it is that i already have a ready-made replacement in the squad who has now found himself prematurely in the first team, and starting to flourish - Kevin Krieger
  17. ^lol gutter speaking of which, Ruud Jacobs has just agreed a deal with Heerenveen...
  18. Houston we have a problem! Ruud Jacobs, arguably our best player last season, looks to have engineered himself a move away from the club. It all started last season, when he was given a few periods of leave for homesickness. Despite this he requested to be transfer listed as he couldnt settle, a request which i granted (ive had it happen before but then players changing their minds/settling/asking to be removed from transfer list). Now his status states he is determined to prove his worth to the club, and i cant reverse his transfer status. Another twist in the tale is he now only has 6 months left on his contract, and while he has been offered a new deal by the club, he also has 19! other clubs chasing his signature. Long story short, i should have offered him a longer deal to begin with, gonna kick myself if he agrees to go elsewhere for free
  19. ill be honest, i have no idea. If we can start off this season the way we finished the last i dont see why we cant push for a europa place, but by and large im dealing with the same squad as last season due to the continuing lack of ambition/lack of funds available, and so making any real progress might be difficult. To be honest ill be happy if we can continue scoring the way we have been, but concede a few less goals in the upcoming season, which in itself im sure would make a difference to our chances of improving on last seasons position. Time will tell...
  20. good luck with VfB Lubeck tjt65, a team close to my heart having loved my time there back in FM10
  21. lol just noticed the pattern in my league positions...7th, 1st, 7th, 1st, 7th...you all know what that means for next season!!
  22. Ac. Viseu - 2016/2017 - End of Season Review Manager Profile Team Information Transfers Predicted Position: 16th Actual Position: 7th Average Attendance: 6532 Season Ticket Holders: 1319 We started our first foray in the top flight very unprepared, with no funds and very little improvement in wage budget. As a result our season started with mixed fortunes. It was apparent fairly early on that the players we had were not all up to the challenge, and so a few new faces were brought in over the course of the season. A few of these signings proved to be very influential in the overall outcome of the season. In the cup competitions, we were non existent in the Taca de Portugal, losing in the 4th round. Our League Cup campaign, however, was far more impressive. The group stage yielded a draw with Pacos Ferreira, and victories over a very weakened Benfica side and Vitoria Setubal. Our great run was to come to an end in the semi final though, as we were hammered 5-3 by Vit. Guimaraes. A worthwhile experience for the lads nonetheless, who confounded the critics to get so far. A brief look at the main players of the season: GK Souza - was brought in last season as cover for Rocha. However, established himself as first choice in preseason. Did concede a shedload of goals though, which is definitely a concern DEF Alisson - missed part of the season through injury, and seems to have fitness concerns, but overall one of the stars of the season, 15 assists from RB is no mean feat Marvin Grundei - one of the new players brought in, and proved to be pretty useful, either at RB or CB, a potential star for the future Leonel Jakson - missed a chunk of the season with ligament damage, but a first choice when fit Ricardo Tavares - one of the stars of the cup run, and formed a pretty solid CB partnership with Jakson Raphael Simon - another who doesnt seem able to last 90 minutes, shame tho as he is a threat from LB MID Dionatan Teixeira - big man continues to be a very useful player. solid in DM, and a threat from set pieces, as shown by his 8 goals this season Mexilhao - another of last seasons stars, hasnt quite made his mark on the top flight yet, but improved as the season went on Ruud Jacobs - signed in the summer after a glowing reccomendation from one of my scouts, and what a find he was. Having made noise early on about being homesick and being given leave on a few occasions, he then handed in a transfer request saying he couldnt settle. However, as the season progressed he quickly emerged as one of the real gems of the season, scoring 7 and assisting 12 from CM position. Hoping the good league position can help convince him to stay Boris Nkoa - brought in part way through the season, better than what we had previously but the jury is still out ATT Jean Silva - became clear pretty quickly that this league is too much for him, and so played little part in the season. Shame he couldnt make the jump up, but his status as a club legend remains intact in my eyes Fusca - another who hasnt proved himself at this level, in fact if anything he has regressed this season. I tried to give him more of a chance but the return (3 goals, 5 assists) speaks for itself Nene - picked up in January, and again what a find he was. Outstanding on the left side of my front 3, 10 goals and 8 assists from 17 games is a great start to his Ac Viseu career Ahmed Sayed - missed about 8 weeks of the season due to injury, and never really got going. Scoreed 9 goals but i expected better to be honest Per Kjaersgaard - saved the best til last. Signed on the last day of the summer transfer window after being picked out by my scouts. Proved himself to be the pick of the bunch, scoring a total of 26 goals (21 in the league) 2nd top scorer in the league. Also now the Ac Viseu record holder for most league goals in a season, overtaking Edsons 19 goals from a few years back. A real star and one who i will need to hold on to if we are to build on this seasons success Top Scorer - Per Kjaersgaard - 26 goals Highest Average Rating - Nene - 7.52 Fans Player of The Year - Per Kjaersgaard Portuguese Premier League Top Scorer - Per Kjaersgaard - 2nd Portuguese Premier League Most Assists - Alisson - 1st Portuguese Premier League Manager of The Year - Garry Maltman - 1st Portuguese Premier League Team of The Year - Alisson, Kjaersgaard Portuguese Most Improved Team of The Year - Ac Viseu - 1st Following on from the success of this season, its pretty clear that if we hadnt conceded as many goals, we could probably have made it into the european places. So one of the main aims going forward has to be to tighten up defensively. Beyond that, i hope our success will inspire the board to give me some money to spend, surely weve earned it now!! 23. wow, a lot of new faces in the challenge since i last checked in. Good to see so much progress, and so many people still active in here. As for Ac Viseu, i kind of lost interest a little in the last few months, and i havent been able to spend much time on my save due to work commitments, but im back and firing on all cylinders to get through my first season in the top tier of portuguese football. It became apparent pretty quickly that my squad wasnt strong enough to compete as it was, so there are a number of new faces who i will introduce in my end of season review. Coming soon!
  24. need to get back into my save, been on holiday in Paris the last 2 weeks, need to refresh my memory as to where Ac Viseu are at the moment...great to see so much progress in the challenge
