  1. Northern Ireland - Belfast Celtic - Season 4 Back again! Last season I made it into the Championship group, but at the end of this season I was caught in a relegation battle, ending 5 points clear. Things are looking up though because I think I got a semi-golden generation through this year's youth intake. My first second and third years of youth intake were just "okay", getting two or three youth players each year. My entire is now all from the youth academy with most of the veterans retiring at the end of this season. I usually play in a 4-3-3 with a single pivot defensive midfielder. I had workable striker, wingers, defensive midfielder, and back 4, but my two midfielders were missing the key elements. This intake I got pretty good deep lying player maker with 12 passing, first touch, and decisions. He went straight into the first team and is already spraying through balls for my advanced striker. Another midfielder also came through who seems to be a good fit as well. Still don't have much time, but I hope to go in-depth with my prospective tactics. Hope to instill "Total Football" soon.
  2. Northern Ireland - Belfast Celtic Season 1-3 I started a few saves in this thread, but most of them died out so I decided to do a few seasons before I posting again. Northern Ireland seems to be considered one of the hardest tiers to go through. I was extremely successful with this save so far. I won the third tier in my second season and got to the top half in the second tier in my third. I haven't been able to do that even with regular transfers in the past. I'll post about tactics more later, but I started with working the wings with long balls. I'm hoping to implement a more possession game as I get better recruits.
  3. I don't have time to do a full update, but I just realized by I got two brothers in two years consecutive years of my youth intake. They both look like they could be leading players on my team. I'm currently in my fourth year in Sweden and they both have Swedish-Montenegrin dual nationality. I play one as a midfielder and one has an inverted wingback so they will definitely link up on the pitch.
  4. IFK Lidingö - Sweden - Season 1 and 2 The last couple of times I posted my first season I was unceremoniously let go, so I waited until the first season was complete. I've been trying to do Sweden, but it is incredibly hard to not get relegated because you are basically given 10 players. The first I stayed up by winning a relegation playoff 2-1. I basically got by in the last games by playing newly signed regens. The second season was a bit better, but I was only a few places above the regelation zone. I do think I am well placed because this club surprising gets about 300,000 in funds every year from membership fees. I have almost 2 million in the bank now. I am just waiting for the board to approve some youth improvements.
  5. Hi guys, I'm starting a new challenge save. I posted earlier about a Northern Ireland save, which I did well in, but I grew tired of it when most of my team was poached before even making the top tier. I tried Denmark as well and got fired before the end of the season. This time I'm trying Portugal for the first time. It is very appropriate for this challenge because the lowest tier in the Portuguese system is divided into 4 leagues with 5 relegations every year. This means there are 20 new teams every season, giving you the pick of the litter. There were a couple promoted professional teams which were still predicted to go down. I picked Loures, which is a city near Lisbon. I waited until after the first season to post because I thought I might get fired again. Grupo Sportivo de Loures I was able to get mid table the first year, hopefully I can make a run for promotion the second year. I'm already 200,000 in the red and over the salary limits, so let's see I can resolve that as well.
  6. Hi Guys, Back to recount Year 3 of my Belfast Celtic save in the third tier of Northern Ireland. I posted the first season earlier, which I lost out on promotion on the last day by a missed penalty. The second season I didn't get a win until December, but I was able to stabilize and avoid relegation. This third season I earned promotion by winning the league, eight points clear. I'm not sure if I will be able to stay up the coming season as we don't really score many goals. My leading scorer only had 10 goals, so scoring is fairly spread out. The key thing in Northern Ireland is that in the second tier you can sign multiple year contracts (the third tier is only 1 year, with a possible option clause). I going to try to lock down all my players once I go up. Tactics: I designed my tactic as a fluid-counter attacking style, but I end up dominating possession and having a hard time breaking down defenses. Usually I end up pressuring the 6 yard box until we nick a goal on a set piece and then we get another goal in open play. I've been using a False 9 as a striker in a diamond midfield with a wing back on attack. My defenders almost end up defending on the half way line. Youth Intake -Unfortunately, my Youth Intake this year has only been mediocre even though I've received a lot of academy upgrades. I might move to change my Head of Youth Development.
  7. I unfortunately forgot to screenshot my end of season stuff, but in an update on the first year of my Belfast Celtic save I went into the last day of the season top of the league, but lost on the last day sinking my promotion hopes. I had more than 1 XG over my opponent and my striker who led the league in goals missed a penalty. I realized that most of the team in inherited has the dreaded "hates big matches." Other than that I got a good youth intake, upgrades to youth coaching and recruitment, and the board decided of their own accord to become an affiliate of a team in the premiership, worth 10,000 a year.
  8. Hi guys, This my first post on the forum. I joined specifically to try this challenge. I choose to do Northern Ireland. I tried a save before this current one, but I got relegated in the second season after most of my key players got injured, including the goalkeeper. I re-simmed and got a different team, Belfast Celtic. The squad is slightly better, and results have been really good so far. Almost all my players have acceleration and speed over 10 so it seems I'm just blitzing teams physically. After a shaky start I'm top of the league with a game in hand in January. I have only two center backs in the team, so we will see if I can ride out my luck. Unfortunately, almost all the players are over 30, so we might fall off a cliff even if we win the league. Even though I almost exclusively do lower league saves, I always try a short passing game at first. Usually it doesn't work well and I switch up, but I've been using a 4-3-3 with a false 9 and an inverted winger and forward, and a wing back on attack. Because all my players are so fast, there are able to flood the space left open by the false 9 dropping deep and then they eventually cut it back to him in the middle. My main striker has 17 so far.
