3 "What we've got here is a failure to communicate"
  1. Darlington F.C. Club Presentation Darlington Football Club is an association football club based in Darlington. As of the 2022–23 season, we compete in the National League North (sixth tier of English football). The club was originally founded in 1883. In 2003 Darlington moved to the all-seater, 25,000-capacity Darlington Arena. Sadly, the cost of the stadium was a major factor in driving the club into administration in 2003, 2009, and 2012. Afterward, the club moved to Blackwell Meadows stadium. The club has traditionally worn strips of black and white shirts, black shorts and black and white socks. The club's main rival historically has been Hartlepool United. Board expectations
  2. Manager Presentation Our character for this project will be Southafrican native Levian Jacobs. Born in Bloemfontein in 1999, Levian grew up having all the stupid dreams a kid has. Like becoming a football professional and playing for the national team one day as he has seen 2010 at the world cup in his homeland or leaving his country to visit all these other countries. But sadly he was never picked by scouts for first-class youth teams (Sunday League Player). So when he graduated from school, he had to realize that a professional football career will not be achievable for him. It took a while till he changed his perspective: may he won’t be able to be a professional player, but why shouldn’t he be a good coach? Luckily he found a course, called “Sports Coaching and Exercise” (FdSc) at Teesside University in Darlington (England). This was the perfect opportunity! Levian could travel and move to another country. And on the other hand, he could learn the theoretical part of being a good coach at university. In addition, he was able to use his knowledge while coaching some youth teams at Darlington Football Club. Since then things played out well. Levian finished the undergraduate course and gained a national C licence. And also the club was happy with the success he achieved with the youth teams. After being ranked 13th in the season 21/22 head coach Alun Armstrong was sacked by the board. Surprisingly Levian Jacobs was offered the job. Although it is a great honor for him, would he be able to be as successful as with the youth teams? 3. Introduction Hey everyone! After playing the old EA managers for several years, I have enjoyed playing the SI manager since the FM21. Sadly, I struggle with being motivated throughout long-term saves. Therefore I want to put more effort into this journeyman project and keep you all updated on how it's going. A key for me is to keep it as realistic as possible without losing the fun because of too many restrictions. Therefore I will also try to add as much personality to my character and so may add a roleplaying aspect to this FM experience. Set Up Rules I have set myself the following rules: 1. If I get offered a job, I need to consider whether I would move to the new club accounting for the wages offered and my current financial situation, the prestige of the job compared to my own, or my career goals. 2. Only choosing clubs that fit my philosophy for developing youth (personality trait: youth developer) 3. Only leaving the club when it's a big upgrade to the current club (personality traits: loyal vs. ambitious) 5. Keeping a minimum of 50% homegrown players. 6. Not moving to countries without speaking the language (I have to learn some basics of the language before) 7. Not more transfers in relation to the other teams of the league. 8. Not using the in-game editor. The format for this Career Update will be monthly updates. In the next post, we will learn a little bit about our manager.
