With that out of the way, I'm pleased to share that I've got another job and I'm already halfway the season.
Modena, the home of balsamic vinegar, Ferrari and Pavarotti, have had a fairly inconsequential time as a professional club. The current Serie B club has never won a major trophy, with their best league performance coming in the 1946/47 when they finished 3rd in Serie A.
At the midway point of the season we are 3 points clear at the top, thanks to the solidity of our 4-3-3 DM formation we refined during our time in Andorra.
One of our key objectives for the season was to start to repair the club's financial damage. We got rid of the dead wood to help slash our wage bill by a third, making some transfer income in the process. We've replaced these almost exclusively with loans, many of which required no financial contribution, as well as one or two younger players who are ready to make the step up from some of Europe's lower leagues. One of these enthusiastic stars is powerful German centre back, Julian Doppelfeld, from none other than Andorra's Santa Coloma. Doppelfeld has stepped up tremendously, scoring some key headed goals and topping the average rating charts for Modena.
While there is still a lot of work and growth needed, both on and off the pitch, to compete against the big clubs in Italy; the future is looking bright.
