What is Jusef Erabi like? I have just started a save with Hammarby and noticed he was gaining some interest from Europe. I have managed to extend his contract but he wanted a £1.2 million buy out in it.

He's just decent on my save. I sold him on second season to Lille for 12.5M and got him back a year after that for half of the price (he was not playing at all there). Right now (2029) hes 25 and happens to be a rotation squad member.

  2. We did it! We clinched the title after an epic final battle against Elfsborg, away from home. We were a point behind them so it was a 'win or nothing' situation.

We outplay them for the whole game. I saw that they were playing very narrowly and their striker was only 1,74m so I put my backline a bit lower and close all the ways through the center, trying to force them to play down the wings and cross to that small striker.

Now it's time to strenght the team with some quality signings. :)

    HAMMARBY IF | 2023-24

We had a bit of a mid season slump in July...

    image.png.374ee1adbd383cb28278e927e8c5981a.png

...starting with a 0-4 at home against Degerfors. They were bottom of the league at that point, so I knew something bad was happening. We tried our best in UECL but unfortunately got FC Twente instead of some gibraltarian team. Good thing is that we can fully focus on the league.

We got on track again pretty quickly after those bad results and we still on top of the league with 6 games to go.

It's going to be hard because Elfsborg is also winning everything and any loss or draw could cost us the title.

PS: We play Elfsborg on the final day of the season so that could be interesting. I know IRL they lost the title on the last match against Malmo so I hope we do the same.

This boy was on the B team scoring and assisting like crazy so I cancel the loan to give him some serious play time. Looks promesing (and he just turned 17):

He has already scored some goals with us, I hope we can keep him a bit more.

Started with Hammarby IF this year, I'm living in Helsinki right now and I wanted to play a nordic save, specially now that winter is coming.

We are currently sitting top of the league after a very solid start.

Looking for some nordic gems, goal is to make a team that only plays Scandinavian + Finnish players.

Not at all. The teams in my save are rotating well and regularly playing young players. I'm managing in Scotland though. I think the main issue with this is in the EPL due to the over inflated quality of real life players there which hampers youth development in the early years of a save as the quality of newgens produced simply cannot compete. Don't really have that problem in Scotland.

Sorry I think I didn’t explain myself very well!

I was talking about when a player complains about the lack of depth in X position and then, no matter what your answer is, all the squad feels that you treated him poorly, so they lose the confidence in you.

  6. Hey there!

First of all, I want to apologize about my english since is not my mother tongue but I'll try my best to make me readable. :)

I took control of Blackburn and we have a successfull season, making 100 points and of course getting promoted to Premier League. Now I'm thinking about making some changes in my 4-3-3.

    This is my current tactic:

    image.png.b556a800a383442dfcaadbce9c6c4649.png

As you can see, it's an aggresive possession tactic (or thats what I think). I took some ideas from this forum (active reader here but not really a posting machine) and it worked wonders.

What changes do you usually make when you get promoted? This is the Premiership so I can't play like this. I have 40M~ to spend and I'm looking to properly strength my squad. I have to say I don't want to change my style since this is the football I like and I'm not comfortable with defend-first tactics, but I want to know if you do radical changes when you go up into a new league.

This is what I was thinking:

    - Not wingbacks but regular fullbacks.
    - Change the half-back into a regular DM.
    - Maybe change the RPM and sign a strong, brave BBM.
    - Put the DLF into attack (maybe change the role for a more aggressive one), since the space will be behind the defences and not in front of the centre backs, at least at the competition beginning.
    - Definitely no high press, just a mid block but maybe keep the higher line to make us more compact in defence and help us in possession.

What are you thoughts about this? How do you approach this big changes? :)

  7. I think this is a common problem for the FM community, at least for the less experienced tacticians like me.

Doesn't matter what team I am or what system Im using (althought I usually go with a really simple 4-1-4-1), team form just drops off massively between december and february. I obviously did not expect to win all games in the league (that would be really boring) but I want to know what to do to solve that mistake, cause all the seasons are the same for me. I read somewhere on the forums that when this happens its because the IA start to be more conservative to you / takes you more seriously. So my questions are:

    1) What did you do when this happens? Just a simple change of roles, be a little more attacking, a little bit conservative...
    2) Can it be a morale / overconfidence problem? Maybe im overlooking into tactics and all they need is a good team talk or interact with the players to wake them up... (im thinking its a combination of both but still wanna hear what you guys do in the cases).

  8. I'm happy with my West Ham team (second season), the first season we qualify for Europa League because we was very strong defensively, barely conceding goals (2nd best defence in the league). The point is that the board ask me to play offensive football, and with the new signings, I think we can achieve that. We are playing like this:

    image.thumb.png.b33296abd31677f1c845e23e57e0a4d2.png

But we are not scoring just enough, we create few chances and still score a low rate of them. I tried dropping the defence, played the DLF in support and the IF in attack and then changed the role of Mezzalla to support, I tried with a CM(A) for more direct box attacking... but nothing seems to work to create very much chances. I don't care if I concede more goals, just want to play offensively and I think im not doing that well. I tried to counterpress sometimes but nothing, its all the same, we are sterile offensively.

    image.thumb.png.af9e40018a1984c1b7b1eba41b1bba94.png

I wanted to ask this here because in all my saves in FM i always become strong defensively but very very very poor in goalscoring. Maybe its the formation? What do you recommend?

  9. Im going to start a new save - sure you guys know the difficult to find 'that' team to really have fun and pass through this hard days.

So im thinking developing a style of football particulary, and it will be a 'possession + verticality' system. I already tried in Marseille and it was fun but i want some new challenges, maybe in another league.

What teams can you recommend for this style? I don't want a top team, just an average or good one like Marseille.

  10. Hi all, first of all i want to clarify that english is not my native lenguage so i will try my best! :D

Im starting third season with Marseille and I have some doubts cause I struggled a little bit in the first two seasons, mainly against teams that park the bus. I won some of that matches through screamers or set pieces, but I didn’t see too many highlights and I think I have a really good team right now.

So I read some great guides here in the forums and I tried to apply them in a new system that make us really strong and challenge for trophies.

I put myself a few rules to follow as I think we need ideas to develop a balanced & nice playing tactic.

    • When we have the ball, I want to play a ‘positive’ football that combines possession (mainly in defence to lures the opposition) with verticality, as I don’t want the players keep moving the ball around and around like in a tiki taka system. I want aggressiveness when we have it.
    • Without the ball I want to press in the final third, simply because it suits the style I want to play. Also I have one of the fastest defences in the league so I think it will be ok.
    • As I said, I want verticality if we have the chance so if we make Counter-Press maybe it will be better, but the downside of my talented players is that we don’t have as many work-rate that id like them to have, so I don’t think we are going to reach that level of aggressiveness without the ball right now. Maybe signing a player with more spirit of sacrifice will encourage them to do it.
    • I have young players that are really talented like Matías Zaracho and Thiago Almada in the final third, so I want to allow them some freedom in that area of the pitch.

That’s it, don’t want to overcomplicate things as I didn’t play the game for many years and I can consider myself a brand new player.

Saying that, I have three options to work with:

    A typical 4-3-3:

    Numubi5.png

    A 4-2-3-1:

    Spoiler

    4uItprD.png

    And a counter-attacking 4-1-4-1:

    Spoiler

    LMWLPJu.png

First and second ones suits the style im trying to implement, and the third one will be used for hard away matches where we are inferior (thinking of PSG and some european matches).

Is this a good starting point? Would you make any changes?
