  1. For anyone wanting FM 21 on Stadia, I would appreciate them taking a look at the dedicated bug section.
And frankly, in the midst of all the controversy I've read about the match engine or any other flaw of FM 20, without going into the merits, I was wondering what we Stadia users could say who at any moment were not in able to save our games, after hours and hours of immersion in the game.

I don't know if it will be released on Stadia, I can say that to date no one (neither Google, nor SI) has managed to solve that existing defect.
Many people more experienced than me on the matter, believed that the release of the game on Stadia should be subject to a greater raiting than the one assigned, last year, to FM.

As far as I'm concerned, the reputational damage suffered by SI I believe was far greater than any benefit.
Furthermore, I would have appreciated the apology of SI to all users who, after investing a lot of money between Stadia and the purchase of the game, found themselves in this absurd situation. I personally don't care about other games.
I hope the entire Football Manager community stands in solidarity, never allowing, on whatever platform the game will be released, that what happened last year can happen again.

For some FM it is a game, for me it is important as a faith.

Hi guys, thanks first of all for your answers. I also managed to get the refund.

I will tell you about my experience as I believe it can be useful to other players who have to decide to request a refund, which I recommend ALL to do.

I also contacted the support via chat, and I have attached the link to this forum. I also let you know that I was one of those who had uploaded the damaged files here on the forum.
Unfortunately I was unable to attach images, so I could not show her the refund that James had received on the grounds "product is defective / damaged".
So the "very kind" operator, continued to object about Google's voluntary refund rules, claiming that if others had received the refund, it was only because ... They had played less than 2 hours on FM !!! (hilarious, I know).

The conversation went on like this, between blows and answers, for several minutes. Other things that were asked of me were: "you have to contact SEGA" (no, I don't have to because you are responsible for the damaged game); "how can you play more than 500 hours in a bad game?" (the problem does not occur immediately, but often after several hours of play); "you played more than 2 hours, so I can't do anything" (no, because the defective product liability does not have a limit of hours beyond which a refund can be requested), etc. etc.

Since it was not possible to put an end to this conversation, he tells me that the only thing he can do is to send me a report to this phantom Consultation of specialized High Techs (the capital letters are those of the operator. Funny, I know).
At this moment, the already questionable handling of the request in my opinion is getting worse. Because he starts asking me a whole series of information such as: PC model, smartphone model, PC operating system, smartphone operating system, modem router model, internet manager.

You will understand well, that for someone who doesn't understand anything about computer science like me, it wasn't easy. I had to turn the house upside down to find the various original boxes to understand the patterns of everything, etc. If I didn't, it would probably end there.
Not only that, because at a certain point I am told: ok, let's close the conversation here and give you the information to open this report independently. I replied: absolutely not, open it yourself, let's finish.

After a few hours, I finally get an email with the opening of the report and after a few more days, without having an answer from the Board of High Technicians, I find the email with the refund.

In the meantime, expecting a negative response, I had contacted a consumer association. Even though the matter is resolved (for me), they still urged me to report it to the Antitrust Authority. Before doing so, I must understand if the issue falls within their competence, also because the issue here is transnational.

However, despite having received the refund, there is no doubt that Stadia's behavior was contrary to the principles of FAIRNESS, GOOD FAITH, LOYALTY, TRANSPARENCY and EQUITY which certainly, perhaps with other terms, are part of consumer rights of all european states. As already pointed out by other users, it is scandalous that the game is still on sale; and it is contrary to the principles mentioned that heavy charges have been imposed on me to obtain the reimbursement, as well as some practices, "tricks", to try to make me desist from obtaining it.

I agree with James when he says that we must make our voice heard, there is a deafening silence about this problem. No articles, no videos on youtube, nothing. And they continue to deny the problem, as if it didn't exist and depended on our devices.

I tell everything so that other users can possibly defend themselves from these subtle practices, as I believe that if I had not had a legal background I could not have supported the conversation with the operator.

I also enclose the receipt of the refund, in order to help all those who determine to request it.

    P. S. I am a true FM enthusiast, only on Steam do I have the 2013, 2017 and 2018 versions. And I bought many more before these. I don't buy it every year because I love it so much that I wouldn't have taken a college exam and never graduated.
For this I allow myself to say to S.I. that I waited several months in silence, without getting infected by the hysteria of some other players. I have placed my trust in you.
I don't know what deals you have made with Stadia, but there is no need to reveal trade secrets or confidential information to provide some clarity to those who love the fruit of your work, your fans. "We are doing everything we can to solve this problem," sorry, it is no longer a satisfactory answer.

Hi James, could you explain to me exactly how did you get the refund? Because they are making stories to me. They gave me the excuse of the hours of play, in open violation of their rules on returns and refunds. They said I have to write to SEGA, and they diverted me to a phantom consultation of superior technicians, asking me a lot of information that has nothing to do with the bug in question.

Now I wonder if I really should be forced to go to a judge to assert my right, concerning a NOTORIAL problem, which they persistently deny. I ask all those who have useful information in order to obtain a refund from Stadia to share it with everyone, so as to end an injustice.

Hi never had any issues before with fm on stadia, it’s the only reason I bought stadia to play fm. Now I changed my file save to 3 slots recently and then have manually saved over v2 etc so maybe having too many saves has caused the issue ?

I’ve saved lots of videos from goals and incidents in game and was near my limit could this be an issue ? Tbh I think with the way it’s been advertised about online not needing console etc the last thing I should have to worry about is storage.

    Hi,

I do not think so. I was saving on the same file and not on three in turn like you and I had the same problem.

From experience I can say that the only thing that causes the problem in question is the extension of the database.

For example, I tried to make a career by setting only the South American and Mexican leagues as playable, and the game works normally.
The problem whith this small configuration of database is  game wasn't realistic enough. For example, I did not receive offers for my players from European countries as would have happened if I had made them playable and, moreover, this configuration did not even allow me to play the Club World Cup once the Copa Libertadores won.

I had just won the league (Vanarama National) with Warrington Town away from home a nice 5-0 win away to Maidenhead with 3 games to spare then it refused to save so I had to quit to start screen and try other saves. Luckily one loaded up where I was 3 days before Maidenhead game so replayed game and after game it refused to save so I loaded it up again to same point.

This time I unticked cache like suggested In post quoted above and played through to Maidenhead game and afterwards tried to save and it saved.

@Ben Allingham a few questions if I may. If I carry on with this save file with cache unticked is the only difference going to be that my game loads slower in general I.e going from one day to next loading pages etc ? If issue is fixed in future I suppose I could tick cache again ?

is there clarification somewhere on how much storage we get for fm or if we can use our own ? I have google one storage. Thanks

I also tried what was written in the previous messages about the cache, but in my opinion this trick only worsens the problem. In fact, even if I manage to save, I can no longer load the save that becomes corrupt.
So either this has not happened to you yet because you have selected a database smaller than mine and it will happen to you in the future, or I envy you because you don't have a bug that I have. :-D

For the rest I join your second question, it is something that I wanted to ask for a while too.
Also, without wanting to create false illusions, I would be pleased if Ben provided us with some more details on the state of the resolution of the problem.

    Hello again everyone,

We've had confirmation from Google that they have fixed an issue on their end which we (and they) suspect was the cause of the constant save game problems. Google have told us that this fix went out in the latest version of the Stadia runtime (which went public yesterday). We hope this is the end of the save issues plaguing FM on Stadia. However, if you do encounter the bug again please let me know immediately.

    Cheers,

    Ben

    Hi Ben,

It happened much earlier than before, before Google did this update. I was alone on 11 march 2020.

    Hi Lou,

How often is this happening to you and when you go back in to the game had the save worked correctly?

    Cheers,

    Ben

It only happened to me twice, but I can't give you more information about it. I think it happened on two occasions, including a few minutes ago, in which I played FM for several hours, going on for several months.

It is strange, because if it were the connection to jump, as happened to me other times, entering the 10 minutes of waiting continues to save. Instead, it returns to the home screen and the game restarts as if you had opened it at the time (licenses, no war child, etc. etc.).

The rescue, of course, did not take place and the load starts again from the previous one.

    Hi Ben,
I hope the problem has been solved.

I personally encountered another bug, which has already happened to me twice. The automatic saving starts, which I set to once a month / always on the same file and, when it reaches the end, it exits the game and I return to the home screen of Stadia.

    Please follow the instructions here.

After uploading your save please tell me the name of it so I can find it.

Could you also let me know which issue you've been having (failing to save or saving but when loaded is on a previous date) and what in game date it is failing to save on?

    Cheers,

    Ben

    Hi Ben,

I don't know if I will be able to make myself understood with the help of google translate.

I uploaded (I hope correctly) four files, the names are: Hungerford 1; Hungerford 2; Vis Pesaro 1 A; Vis Pesaro 1 B.

The files are four because I noticed, downloading the saves from google takeout, this strange doubling.

The game with Hungerford (I don't know which of the two rows it is) can no longer be loaded. As I wrote in a previous message, this happened as a result of overwriting the file where the game automatically saved.

Last night, the other problem encountered by the players of this forum appeared, namely the inability to save the game.
Initially, the problem was circumvented by creating a new save file each time.
In my case, original file ---> new file ---> new file. On the third attempt to create a new file, this was no longer possible. Again, I don't know which of the two Vis Pesaro files (1 A or 1 B) it is, I can tell you that from that save - which I can still load - I had made three more games. So the problem occurred at a date close to or immediately following the match against Perugia.

In general, the rescue functions with Stadia seem very strange. Yesterday I had canceled the bailouts that, just bought the game, had been generated because the save option was set to three files in turn.
Today, trying to load the game, I saw that there were unnamed saves, where you could basically select the row, but I didn't try to load them, but to delete them again.

I hope I have been clear, and I can help solve the problems. We all need the certainty of starting a game and being able to carry it on as long as we want. The purchase of FM and Stadia, in my case, was determined precisely by being able to go on over the years, without the game becoming as heavy as it was with FM on the computer.

Thanks for the work you do and you will do, I hope there will be positive news soon.

    Ciao entrambi

    Saluti,

    Ben

In my case, the problem occurred when, by mistake, instead of clicking on "save game", I clicked on "save game as" and I overwrote the file on which it saved automatically. Although he managed to save the game, from that moment on he never allowed me to load it.

I started a new career with the original database and at the moment everything is going well, even if I share the fear of the other forumists to be able to lose all the efforts made at any moment.

Either way, I'd like to recover the corrupt save and help troubleshoot Stadia, so if my gamertag can serve it's: Lou #8719
