A 1 reputation team is essentially a fieldfiller. Added to the game, but at such a low level the team will be mainly used as an opponent in practice matches and such. In some cases they are in competition and the 1 reputation will relegate them pretty quick.

-1 means random. Could be anywhere between 1 and 20.

    • A lot of clubs in the Czech 3rd division were 1 rep, but clubs of a seemingly similar stature had around 2,000 to me, which was odd.
    • When you mean random, is random skewed based on rep, or is it truly random. (For example, is a higher rep team or a team with better facilities more likely to generate a higher number?)
  2. My Questions:

    1. What attributes/traits are best for pressing? What other attributes help? How do these attributes help with pressing? What do they do?
    2. What is the difference between natural fitness and stamina? Can a player still be effective as an impact sub if there stamina and natural fitness are 1, but they have other great attributes for pressing?
    3. What positions on the field are most important for pressing. For example, in a 442, who needs to have the best pressing attributes? 4231? 4141 DM Wide? 532? Etc. Does it matter what formation the opposition is playing as? DO NOT say that it depends on the roles, duties, how the formation works, etc. I would like examples so that I can determine which players are most important and why. Also, do some positions require some pressing attributes over others? Again, I would like scenarios. I know there is no one size fits all approach, but I would like examples so that I could apply it to other formations.

To close the loop on this, and to anyone searching in the future:

I tried several times to do what Gbrexiton suggested, and all times higher rep teams got promoted to the 3 Liga. It wasn't deterministic; some or all of the teams were different each time.

I bought the in-game editor and boosted my II team's reputation to that of a Bundesliga team, and then tried again. It took 3 tries to get them promoted, but it worked! I then reset their reputation to what it was before.

One unfortunate consequence that happened: I guess somehow having a higher reputation made them want to buy higher reputation players? They signed 5 crap players to help fill out the II squad, each at a salary of 7.7M/yr, which is higher than all but 1 player on my senior team (Upamecano). But our finances are in good shape, and I'm happy to eat the cost of buying out those players if needed to not have the pain of managing an unmanageable team.

    Thanks for the help @Gbrexiton!

I’m not sure of this, but I’m pretty sure you can go into the responsibilities tab so that only you can make signings

Playing as Leipzig, who start in the Bundesliga but without a II team. But my main team's reputation is good. My board just decided to create a II team after a year in the Regionalliga.

I'll try the May to June sim. If I do that, what would I be looking for? At some point will it give a 3 Bundesliga preview for next year or something?

On June 19th, check the Liga 3 table to see which teams were promoted from the Regionliga. If Leipzig II weren’t promoted, then sim again from May 25th. If Leipzig II were promoted, then you can carry on.

  5. Unfortunately, I don’t know the answer to many of your questions... but I believe that:

    • Promotion is favored to the teams with the highest reputation. Teams with a higher rep are more likely to get promoted than teams with lower rep (What team are you? If you are promoted to the Bundesliga, getting a team into 3. Liga might be hard)
    • If you wanted to reload, save the game on May 25, and holiday to June 19 to get different teams
  6. Composure, Finishing, and Penalty Taking are listed. My Questions:

    • What does the penalty taking attribute do that finishing and composure doesn’t do?
    • Which of the three is most important? Which is least important?
    • What other factors/attributes matter?
    • What about free kick taking? Is this the most important attribute for free kicks, or are there others?

  7. We currently have a game speed slider that dictates the speed between, and during highlights. There should be a slider between Key and Extended, Extended and Comprehensive. Personally, I find Extended as too little, but Comprehensive as to much highlights.

If you want to play on the counter, then you need the combination of standard D-line and lower LOE, not the other way around. Because you need to be more compact in defense, not less.

There is also no need for any extreme instructions. And you don't need the cautious team mentality for counter-attacking football. Go with the Balanced instead and keep it as simple and logical as possible.

This is how I would change and simplify your tactic:

    PFat

    Wsu                                      Wat

    BBM     BWMsu

    DMde

    FBsu    CDde  NCBde   FBsu

    SKde

    Mentality - Balanced

In possession - slightly more direct passing, higher tempo and early crosses

In transition - counter and distribute quickly (no counter-press with such a poor team)

Out of possession - standard D-line, lower Line of engagement (and potentially get stuck in)

    That's all.

Thanks, I’ll give that a go. Do you agree with the way I’m playing based on my player attributes? Does it make sense? Do you think this is the best style for my team?

Also, with the changes you listed, do you mean make those the only instructions, or to change what I listed? For example, how much should I press? Standard, or more urgent?

EDIT: I played a couple matches, and I was able to score a couple, but I’m still doing badly

CDde and WBsu and SKde are hidden. This tactic is the one I use, the one I listed before is wrong, I misremembered. Anyways, Iv basically created the tactic to support the poacher, I only want him to get the ball in good positions and look to score goals. As for the instructions, I am using higher tempo and direct in order to get up the pitch as quickly as possible when the opposition are most exposed. Pass into space looks to exploit the open space as much as possible. Early crosses for through balls. Low crosses as my poacher has good acceleration but not jumping reach. Distribute quickly, counter, counter press, and cautious mentality for countering quickly. Narrow defending because my CBS have good jumping reach, so I’m willing to concede crosses. Dline and LOE was explained earlier. More urgent, prevent short GK distribution and get stuck in for pressing to win the ball back when the opposition is most exposed.

What exactly do you mean by "really direct" and "really high"? There is no team instruction that contains the word "really".

    The highest settings on both

2 hours ago, Experienced Defender said:

    For "countering" what?

I want to press so that I can win the ball back when the opposition is in a vulnerable position, and then counter.

What about defensive line and LOE? You did not mention either.

I’m not really sure; I’ve been experimenting with both. I don’t know if I should sit back so that the opposition come onto me, or if I should push up so that I could win the ball back more often and in a better position.

  11. Hello! This is my team...
    image.thumb.png.a6cad8755f6c6ada93569d42fad444b6.png

I’m not going to sign anyone, so this is how it will stay.

We are currently in the VNN with a team tipped to be relegated. Based on these players, I decided to create a 4141dm wide, with the intention of going on the counter and playing through balls in order to score goals. I played with Kris Masters as an AF, because of his good acceleration. Sam Miller and Trevor Walkate are wingers on at and s, with the intention of feeding Masters. At CB, I play McCarthy and Hooks because of their jumping reach. For the rest, I have converted wingers to wing backs, and the rest in the center of midfield.
    AFat

    Wat Wsu

    BBMsu BWMsu

    HBde

    WBsu NNCBde CBde WBsu

Im struggling to get my tactic working the way I want it to. I have really direct and really high tempo, cautious mentality, early crossing, much higher pressing (for countering) but I’m not getting happy opportunities the way I want to. I struggle to score in general. Also, I concede many ways. I concede a lot from set pieces (I do have tackle harder on, so...) , some from outside the box, low crosses.

Any suggestions? I’m not sure I provided enough info, so tell me what you need to help. Thanks!

Best to show the examples of tactics you were using.

    Sure!

First, I have a pretty classic gegenpress tactic

    image.thumb.png.8d5da542f54a743adc645fcdd4786fe5.png

similar to this, but I switched the LW to SU, AM to AP-At, LB to WB-Su, RB to WB-At, and both BPDs to CBs

    Next, I have

    DLFsu    PFat

    IWsu        CMat         IWsu

    Ade

    FBat    CDde   CDde   WBsu

This was the tactic I used originally

Finally, I have something similar to the gegenpress tactic, but switching the AP (AMC) to DLP (DM), and switching some the the winger roles around to Winger.

For team instructions of these, I switch between lower tempo/shorter passing/lower pressing to higher tempo/direct/higher pressing based on opponent. I also usually used balanced, out will switch to attacking if needed. I try to keep it as simple as possible.

As for the quality of the team... It’s pretty bad. I’ve been doing a youth academy challenge in Iceland, starting from unplayable. I’m currently in the top flight, battening against relegation. I’m really trying to learn tactics, as I usually only finish around where the media predicts me to finish... I see most people on here can win the league despite being predicted to finish bottom.

So, for example, I currently have three tactics, a 4141DM Wide with a mid-press, high LoD, a 4141DM Wide with a Standard, lower pressing and lower tempo and a 4231 Wide which is a full on front-foot Gegenpress.

I might give this a go

How do you see this for specific formations? I thought it only gave you most vulnerable to... Also, how do you decided between the 4141dms tactics?

Looking at the pre-match analysis  I look to see the opponents performance against those formations - I don;t bother looking at others. If they struggle against one more than the other then that guides my choice

I just select the 11 I believe is the best match ups to get me a win.

Do you use the lineup suggestions? And to find this out, do you like at the analysis report? If you are the underdog, would you choose a team to counter with pace rather than a team to pass the ball around? Do you use the exact same formation with no changes, but just different players?

Even if I wanted to make changes, I’m not really sure of the best way to do so.

  15. I am looking to create a formation around a poacher and target man. Any suggestions? What type of players do I need for this role? Would this work?

      P - At TM - Su

    IW - Su CM - At BBM - Su W - Su
FB - Su NNCB - Co CB - De WB - Su
      G - De

    I’m open to ideas
