  1. This is my experience also. Which means you are only adding to a player's training intensity for nothing.
  2. In FM2018 it was very rare (I found) for position retraining ever to have much success. Should I just ignore the suitability colour circle in favor of attributes only? For example a number of my CMs are "incompetent" as DMs, despite clearly having the necessary attributes. Should I just be ignoring that? Or supplementing individual training with position retraining?
  3. If teams regularly have 0 shots, what exactly are you countering? How do you play counter attacking football if you're also the unopposed super team? Wouldn't this imply possession football and the complete control/domination of games?
  4. Do you think it would matter much if I changed one of the wingers to an inverted winger? I love the 442 but I have two quality left-footed wingers and I would like to play them both. :/
  5. Do you mean easy to defend against? I'm thinking of making one IF a winger so as to make it all a little less one dimensional. Also, do you think I'm running a bit of a risk with higher wing backs? I thought positioning them there would aid in tiki taka triangle passes to the front. But would keeping the back four flat still produce a similar effect?
  6. Are you saying that you would advise against 2 inside forwards in this set-up?
  7. I'm using a 4141. DLF (s) IF (a) IF (a) BBM (s) BWM (s) WB (s) DLP (de) WB (s) CD (de) CD (de) SK (s) I'm wandering if having a box to box midfielder may be incongruent with the DLF as they may end up occupying the same space. Any thoughts on such a set up? (I'm trying to play vertical tiki taka football).
  8. About 1 in 2 contracts that I offer to players/staff do this. Basically, I offer a contract, all parties agree, but then I am unable to click con continue in the top right. It just says 'must respond' in the top right corner. When I click on that, it takes me back to the page saying that I've already offered a contract. It's an endless loop and there is no way out of it other than withdrawing the contract offer. But then of course, the player doesn't want anything to do with you after that. So on every save I lose out on almost half of the players and staff I'm interested in. This has been a persistent and consistent issue in all my saves.
  9. I think Neil is meant to be a stand out talent in his league. He's just been voted FAI Schools 'player of the year' for a second time. I think he's meant to have a lot of potential. However injury and his desire to finish his studies (he is a biomedical student) have stopped him from maybe hitting 'the big time'. I have heard rumors that he is wanted by English clubs, but yeah, he didn't want to leave yet. If anyone has anymore info on him, that could help shed some light. Edit: See this interesting article here - https://www.the42.ie/neil-farrugia-ucd-interview-4145919-Jul2018/ Edit II: In this interview with Off The Ball, the interviewer refers to him 'as probably the best player in the country' and 'the best dribbler in the history of Irish football'.
  10. Is it just how much he is on club radars? Or does it determine how a club values the player? Does it influence the players self-importance/valuation (i.e. where he may or may not play and how much wages he demands)?
  11. Damn. That's quite a bit out of my budget. Was hoping he would be cheaper than that. Isn't his starting value like 5k? Maybe if I waited a season I could get him cheaper.
  12. Looks very good. From Brondby right? How much did you pay for him?
  13. Say if I loan a player a bit out of my league (a top youngster from a top club who normally wouldn't think about transferring to me) and yet we become 'close' with regards to player/manager relationship. Would that influence any decision to possibly move to my club?
  14. Oh sorry! I thought I was just updating news. This wasn't a complaint or anything. Just thought this would be the best place to post important updates about Salford.
  15. Nick Haughton has recently transferred to AFC Fylde. (Personally a bit disappointed with this. He's so damn good on the ball. I guess he needed more game time always starting for us on the bench. Shelton and Whitehead are very in-form right now and Nick just couldn't seem to get a start). James Jones and Emmanuel Dieseruvwe recently went on a short loan. These are only month-long youth loans however so probably should not be updated in the database. However, Josh Askew should be on loan at Ashton United until end of season. Danny Livesey should be at Chester on loan until end of season. Anthony Dudley is also on loan at Chester and Jake Beesley is on loan at Bradford Park Avenue, both also until end of season. We have also just got Dennis Politic on loan from Bolton. As of 6th November, 2018, this means our current squad should be (not including the one month loans given to James Jones and Emmanuel Dieseruvwe): 1GK Chris Neal 2DF Scott Wiseman 3DF Ibou Touray 4MF Augustin Mafuta 5DF Liam Hogan (Captain) 6DF Carl Piergianni 8MF Lois Maynard 9FW Adam Rooney 10FW Danny Lloyd 11MF Tom Walker 12GK Max Crocombe 13FW Jack Redshaw 16MF James Hooper 18MF Danny Whitehead 19MF Mark Shelton 21FW Devante Rodney 22MF Dennis Politic (on loan from Bolton Wanderers) 23DF Nathan Pond 27MF Kieran Glynn 30FW Rory Gaffney 39FW Kamar Moncrieffe Our current staff roster is: Manager Graham Alexander Assistant coach Chris Lucketti Goalkeeping coach Carlo Nash Sporting Director Chris Casper Sports Scientist Rob Williams Kitman Paul Rushton Head of Academy 92 Jamie Russell Deputy Head of Academy 92 Lewis Craig Club Secretary Andrew Giblin
  16. Alright thanks Gripper. Sorry if I sounded a bit angry. I had only just got around to checking out the game and was highly disappointed to see such little attention paid here. Also Tony Aghayere isn't at Salford. And yes, maybe I should apply to be a Salford City researcher for you guys. I know the club inside out.
  17. Also Salford are missing Chris Neal as their GK - https://sortitoutsi.net/football-manager-2019/player/5112636/chris-neal He's been at Salford the entire season. Same with Scott Wiseman - https://sortitoutsi.net/football-manager-2019/player/5113021/scott-wiseman Been at Salford the whole season. Jake Lawlor doesn't play for Salford, he plays for Wrexham. Scott Burton plays for Chester. Dominic McHale plays for Ashton. Mike Phenix plays for Southport. Why are they all at Salford? Who on earth does the research for lower league teams? Craig Dootson and Derek Egan also don't coach there anymore. And why is Devante Rodney nerfed and with a 60% injury proneness? He is their best young player. And Jack Radshaw? He hasn't even got on the bench this entire season, let a lone played a single minute of any game and you still have him as their 2nd or 3rd best player? Ibou Touray is perhaps their strongest, fastest and most skillful defender but he has, for some reason, probably the worst stats in the squad. James Jones is also probably one of the most talented young defenders in his league. If anyone actually wants to watch Salford, they upload all the highlights of all their matches online, including a wealth of interviews with the team, staff and management - https://www.youtube.com/feed/subscriptions/UCwBzE2sevTVgJMM35dlBwRQ
  18. Gary Neville discusses the investment at the club: Gary talking about his general investment philosophy for the club. If you also watch the three season mini documentary series you can observe the attentiveness given to the complete management of the club. The professionalism is unlike anything below league 1 level football. maybe even championship. I mean, Rooney was most likely bought for a figure between 500k and 1 million. That level of investment is just insane for non-league football. They are (comparatively) absolutely minted and with utterly committed owners and you give them 193k in the balance and a 32k wage budget? That wage budget is above every single championship club in FM2019. So yeah, this renders Salford completely unplayable because they are permanently bankrupt.
  19. Salford are completely unplayable. You gave them a balance of 193K but a monthly wage budget of 32k? Seriously? This is the research given to perhaps the most famous Lower League club in the world? Salford are owned by billionaire Peter Lim (50%) and the club of 92, all of them millionaires. Gary Neville's net worth is 11 million, Ryan Giggs is worth 40 millions, etc. etc. This is easy stuff to know and find out. Yet you have Swindon Town with a balance of 3 million and a wage budget of 3k? How does this make any sense? From a financial point of view? Salford is an extremely well run club and backed with a very hands on approach by the class of 92. Gary Neville is a bloody control freak who counts every penny and is constantly pushing the club towards the professionalism of teams in the top divisions. Their chairman, Karen Baird is a financial manager with about 20 years experience. But now, when you play as Salford, you are perpetually in the red because of the insane wage bill and the tiny balance. This means you can't ask the board for ANY upgrades or improvements at all, and are stuck with this absurd financial situation until the championship because Rooney et al are all on 3-4 contracts but you're still with conference level training facilities.
  20. 3 striker formations are cheating. I tried it out and got to the FA cup semi-finals with a bloody Conference Team, beating 3 Premier League teams on the way, and pretty much breaking every record in football. It was fun, for a season. And not if every manager in the Premier League came together and planned West Ham tactics for a year would they be unbeaten in 20 games. So yes, it is clearly, blatantly unrealistic. And not by any small margin. But if you wan't to pretend otherwise, by all means.
  21. Sigurd Gronli looks like the very definition of a hidden gem. What kind of prices are you all getting him for?
  22. I would interpret Barcelona as more patient, build up tika taka. Where as Sarri, for instance, is more high tempo and vertical. Although I'm a relative amateur with tactics and may well be talking complete *****.
  23. Does anyone know if the Voidu key is global? I'm a Brit currently living in South Africa and Steam always needs a global key when I buy from these kind of sites... :?
