Is there any benefit to having U18/U23 performance analysts? I'm allowed to sign them, but I really don't understand the point. Can someone help me out?

If you want to develop a good or better u23/u18 squads performance analysis' will identify where they are performing well/bad so you can adjust anything to help aid their development

    • I sold Noussair Mazraoui to ManU in Summer 2021 (actually good deal for them, because his contract was to run out and it was a bargain at £13,5m). He played 30 games in the league in his first season with rather mediocre 6.90 av. rating

6.90 rating is good rating to get anything over is something on a great season level, wouldn’t say mediocre.

But on United raiding Ajax wonder if it’ll be a thing Ten Hag may look at doing over the years to come 🤔

So after the update we have 7 games left to finish season 1.

I decided to use Garnacho, Hannibal, Fernandez and Mcneil in the final few games, while as I said previously Pogba, Lingard, Cavani and Mata who were out of contract were not to play again.

With the use of the youngsters the end of the season was a bit of a grind, but we finished 5th. Garnacho got his 1st ever goal in the 1-0 win over Brighton as well.

So now on to the main business, to rebuild the squad, now this took me a couple days to do.

    Lets start with the outs.

    238146429_s2outs.png.5c8c8805d807cf38a16063c51b93e2d0.png

Telles wanted to leave so for 39 mils couldn't say no. Mctominay is someone I have never rated so he rejoins Mourinho. It was a coin flip on who to sell out of Maguire and Lindelof, but Maguire will be sold by the start of the 3rd season. Couple of players were difficult to sell, Wan Bissaka being 1, and was disappointed with 11 mil but I wanted him gone so off he went. Martial was another difficult one, there is a future fee of 27 mil if he plays 25 games for Fiorentina, so fingers crossed he does.

    Now the ins.

    313354325_s2ins.png.8348b5ddeb8ff0e91da01190e7737022.png202575612_s2ins2.png.65f83b9c044e7e628346a63dd9e58810.png

I didn't want massive signings, as I want to properly rebuild this team and keep a structure in place, and 1 thing I am particularly happy with is even after my signings I have reduced the wage bill by 1 mil a week. Once Ronaldo leaves at the end of the 2nd season, I plan to have no players above 300k a week, any player wanting more will be sold.

Timber and Nkunku have both been linked in real life with Rangnick and Ten Hag, and I like both of them so wanted to use them. Kamara on a free comes in as a dm and cb cover, and on a free is no brainer really. Nunez comes in to eventually replace Ronaldo, have used him on a previous save and hes quality. Bissouma is in to strengthen the midfield.

I'm pretty happy with my transfers, only thing I wasn't happy with is the full backs, and the search continues for both full back positions.

So at the moment this is the squad and how we we line up.

    820501396_tacticandsquad.thumb.png.60b11ca8cec176bfed77a2180e229ed7.png

The not big signings and a wage cap(bit like Liverpool are haggling with Salah on his wage on his new contract) is something i shall also be implementing myself.

Selling players does seem difficult or at least for a fair fee based on his value stated and wage bill is something want to bring down in first few seasons

Most tactics in this game are highly dependent on the players you have. Get some awesome players that fit the tactical style to a "t" and you are halfway there. And by "awesome" I don't mean the best players in the world. Just the ones with suitable attributes. The players I get most excited about in FM22 are usually the ones that cost me around 10 million. Or even ones I get on loan. No need to Real Madrid or Bayern-like superteam here.

How do you find these players at a low fees? Scout certain regions or countries with certain minimum mental attributes & potential or just manually use player search?

is there certain attributes you’d say you look for for each position or is it a general one for all positions

Manchester United End of 2023/24 Season

Third season was a big improvement on season one and two so we are taking steps in the right direction, won the Community Shield, the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League. However we performed a massive bottle job in the Carabao Cup final. I think I finally found the perfect balance in formation/roles for big away games, which has seen us perform more solidly away from home in important games using a combination of BBM, BWM and MEZ to control the midfield whilst also playing a little more reserved than we do at home against the weaker teams.

Couple of big decisions this Summer, Paul Pogba's contract, or sell - couple more players with one-year left too, plus Karim Adeyemi throwing is toys out of the pram, may see him leave (which I don't want to happen, but him and his agent are a nightmare to manage).

I have a £90m budget to play with but only 50% of revenue back, ideally want Matthijs de Ligt and a central midfield option that is strong in the tackle, I just feel we are missing another strong tackler in the middle of the pitch. The board have become more cautious with spending and a take over is on the horizon too so I don't envisage a busy summer.

    PREMIER LEAGUE

Won with 96 points, defence not as steady as last season but scored a ton of goals. Diogo Costa form fell off a cliff just like De Gea last season, so benched him, he fell out with me so I dropped him completely and started 17-year-old Dimitri Madden through to the end of the season again - I'm just going to stick with him now as I think he's going to be brilliant long-term...

Erling Haaland won Top Goalscorer with just 43 goals in 31 games - 10 less than last term! :D

Here is Dimitri Madden for those wondering:

    CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

    Smashed the group stages again, then knocked-out;

    Olympiacos (6-0)

    Liverpool (6-4)

    Bayern (5-3)

To set up a final with Real Madrid, James Ward-Prowse was suspended for the final and Jadon Sancho missed through injury but we still managed to win 2-0, in all honesty I felt like we controlled the game from beginning to end, in Karim Benzema's final game of his career:

    FA CUP

Really happy to win the FA Cup, en-route to Wembley we had all away games this time and knocked out Swansea City, Huddersfield Town, Millwall, West Ham United then Chelsea in the semi-final before beating high-flying Norwich 1-0 in the final - possibly the most boring final ever, swear there was just one highlight and it was the goal :D

    facupfinal.png

    CARABAO CUP

Made the final; knocked out Harrogate Town, Aston Villa, Arsenal and Everton before losing 3-2 at Wembley in an almighty bottle-job to Newcastle United. A 6.3 from goalkeeper Diogo Costa was the last appearance for the club.

    COMMUNITY SHIELD

    A 3-1 win against Arsenal:

See you at the end of summer...

    Hows Elanga looking?

  6. Try offering him the contract you feel is more than fair and then add extra incentives for him to potentially earm more for attacking add bonus for goals/ assist contributions and then defensive try clean sheets etc should help with him accepting a contract worth more to you than him

    Hi,

Long time FM-er, only occasional tactics dabbler. Usually I'd use a P&P tactic, but this year I'm trying to experiment and make my own tactic. Safe to say, it's a work in progress. I've read a lot of the material that has been posted on here over the years, but am very bad at identifying how things apply to my system, or what I should be looking for to understand why issues are occurring.

I'm currently using Man Utd and want to play an attacking system that focuses on getting goals out of both Ronaldo and Bruno, with support from the likes of Rashford. I'm looking for assists to mainly come from Sancho, Shaw and Pogba. Unfortunately we're not blessed with midfielders and I haven't found it easy to fill those spots in the summer window so I do lack depth and solidity in that midfield two (I feel like Ole, having to rely on McFred haha). I'm doing okay against some teams, but struggling to beat the low block teams. Also early on in the season, I did find I was losing to the more mid-table teams. This was usually due to conceding first half goals.

    image.png.0d4a66d780ff3e380997a773215e6325.png

So far I'm getting a good goal output from Ronaldo and assists from Sancho in the more open games, but no real contribution from Bruno at all. Rashford has been injured so hasn't played much yet. Shaw is really active and getting in to good spaces, just not really creating any clear cut chances.

One goal I'm seeing a lot, is a long ball down the middle, my LCB stepping up and missing the header and the striker running in behind them to score or either cut it back. Either that or my RCB stepping in to midfield to win a challenge and being done by a through ball round them. Also seen in the data hub that we're really struggling to make tackles:

    image.png.372736b938e7c6052a0b54e4d13fb5d5.png

I appreciate that Pogba isn't going to be the most useful in a midfield two but if I play Fred in there (as I've had to do a lot when Pogba covers in the positions further forward), I'm worried that he's not really suitable to be a deep-lying playmaker and if I change that role I'm not sure what I'd use instead.

In terms of goals, I'm creating lots of low-quality chances, the box seems very clogged, we put headers over the bar or its straight at the goalie.

To add to all this, because I don't really know what is and isn't working I do tend to tweak a lot in the hope something works, without ever really settling on a tactic and running with it. I have no confidence in what I have done is correct.

If you could kindly help me identify how to improve my system, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

In the last part of the post you've said you tend to play around in the hope of something working but in my experience tend to need to get the team around 60%-80% familiar with the tactic for them to fully understand what is being asked of them.

I would make both Shaw and Dalot positions to WB- Automatic(should mean they will be more cautious when to get forward to help the attack and when to stay back and help out in defensive phase). That or even make one a Full Back on either Support or Defend that way won't go to far from their starting position. I personally only use one of the Distribute to CB's and Distribute to Full Backs. Would take the mark tightly off along with making the Defensive Width to standard, making it wide your conceding space out wide with teams with players who have a good crossing ability could pick out a player in the box and would expect they will try flood the box leading to mistakes by the defence pairing also.

Changing Bruno would make him your creative outlay. Currently Pogba is your creative role and he's quite inconsistent to and once he gets marked out of the game I feel it's easy to nullify attacks, I would change Bruno to Advanced Playmaker. Going by the players who are performing well would be the easiest way to find out which is those who are working in the system you are trying to play

Ward-Prowse is brilliant in FM22, I had him in my Glory Hunter save and turned him into a Ballon D'or winner, very rarely got below a 7.0 rating and his goal/assist output was better than any midfielder in world football on that save, still going at 35 too - £65m will be well worth it by the end of this save - he got two assists and MOTM on his debut too :D

Sounds like a fine investment! Who do you play with the 4-3-3 in midfield have played with the idea of signing him on previous saves but never actually signed him myself

Got through to January in the first season, out went Edinson Cavani (£1.7m to Arsenal), Lee Grant (Free), Fred (£27m to Tottenham) and Juan Mata (£500,000 to Boca) and in came Karim Adeyemi for £23m and James Ward-Prowse for £65m, also signed Roony Bardghji for £8m but he doesn't arrive until 2024.

Top of the league, Liverpool chasing in 2nd five points behind, through in the FA Cup too. We have Dortmund to play in the next round of the Champions League and a Carabao Cup final against Liverpool after a really easy run to the final.

Anthony Elanga has been superb for me, keeping Rashford out the side with 8 goals and 10 assists in 26 games. Also been some solid game time for Shola Shoretire. Hannibal, Kobbie Mainoo and Charlie McNeill.

I don't think I'm going to renew David de Gea's contact, his contract is daft, and when I went to renew he wanted even more - so I'm either going to sell him in the summer or let him go on a free. Signed Paul Pogba back up on a new long term deal though.

Depending what version of Bardghi your save has £8 million could be a steal! JWP seems a bit high but take into account of being English and being indispensable along with club captain I'd probably agree being a decent deal for a set piece specialist. I struggled getting his value let alone nearly £30 million!

Literally just fired it up this morning to see if I can get into it; saw Elanga had 8 for Determination and immediately quit. He's the one positive of the season and FM wants to make him another headache for me

Sure it may be varied as sure mine has a higher one on the save I made on the update. But determination isn't end of the world attribute to be kinda low can also be mentored

    I would remove him personally.

I wanted to start a new save prior official release but with him still in game until said release is out couldnt bring my self to play it. So had to download a unofficial one which ive only done 1/2 times in the 15 years ive played 😂 and wasnt always a fan of some peoples versions as would adjust certain players back then but luckily doesnt look like its the case this time

(bit late, sorry) Why recall him when he's doing a good job? The aim for sending young players out on loan is give them first team playing time so they can develop. Doesn't really matter if he gets his playing time while playing for a top team or a relegation candidate in the league, as long as he gets his playing time at a playing level suited to him.

That's my take on it, others might disagree.

I'm also of the mind if the player is developing well, leave him where he is.

I also think of loaning players as "helping out" other clubs.  I look to loan players to clubs that I want to see succeed to make the save more enjoyable for me.  I'd be more inclined to leave him at Sunderland beacuse I'd want them to stay up.  I actively look to loan players to Sunderland as I'd like to see them promoted.  I do the same with loaning to other EPL or top flight clubs.  I'll even loan players to rivals (both club rivals and clubs or managers I personally dislike) to keep them in the EPL or in hopes they get promoted to make the game more interesting for me.  For ex I will look to loan to Leeds becaue I WANT that Roses derby!

Wasn't so much thinking was something needed to do but coaches had started to suggest so and then media were questioning if hes out grown Sunderland so wondered if anyone had felt would be beneficial to recall or not. Think they only struggling as only playing an 17 & 19 CB pairing which Tengi is thriving in but other player isn't playing to well from what I have seen on his ratings

  13. Mengi is playing well in his loan at Sunderland. Problem is they were predicted 1st in League One(one of the reasons I accepted the loan move offer) but are currently in a relegation fight now in 21st. Question I have is should I recall in January if things don't improve and try for another loan move to a club that could be further up the league or even in another league.

Anyone know what's the best role and instruction for CR7? I just can't get him performing i have tried all roles.

I had him playing Deep-Lying Forward/Pressing Forward/ Complete Forward and excelled in all roles on the full release but since the update when i restarted been a struggle to get him scoring but going to wait for him to be 100% familiar with tactic before i change his role/instructions as he come back quite late from his holiday after Euros he isnt able to play as many friendlies to get himself in good enough condition or able to get a decent familiarised level before start of season
