  2. A weekly challenge thing is a good idea, as long as you don't have every challenge being season long.

Yeah, I though the same weeman.

Some will be as short as a month or two, but others will be half seasons, with maybe one special two week one being a season, which is reasonable IMO.

Expect the first to be up on Wednesday (maybe before, maybe afterwards) (basically soon)

And, I expect some of the regulars to have a go as well to see if we can get the community going in it ;)

  3. In another bid to up the activity/community of CSE, I'm thinking of running a weekly challenges thing.

We all know that it has been done before etc, but I don't think it has been done for FM10 yet.

Was it minisav who used to run it?

Shall I give it a go?

Challenges consist of a points table for how well you do, and would be stuff like keep this club up, stay in the job, win the playoffs, stay up without spending any money.

  4. Brazil/UK Swap?

Currently playing in Brazil with Sao Paulo and was wondering if a Brazil/UK swap would be of an interest to anyone. Not sure if I'd bother making a proper database for it until FM2010, but trial runs etc could be a possibility. There are 7 'state' championships in Brazil, if I was to swap the current 'list' would be - South of England, London & East of England, Midlands, North of England & Yorkshire, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland & Ireland. I don't have a lot of experience/knowledge of Brazil, I know the basics but I'm not really familiar with too many of the different state championships. If anyone is interested in being of any assistance (I know that corinthiano could be helpful) then that would be good.

I like this idea but it would take some work to do and I don't think would be possible in 08 because of it crashing if you swap teams in certain leagues. But in 10, go for it

  5. I got an idea for a kind of transfer challenge. Basically each week a team is chosen and people play as that team, trying to do good business in the transfer window, making good purchases, selling players for a good fee and bringing in good youngsters etc. When the transfer window is over a contestant can submit a screenshot of their transfers during the window. At the end of the week anyone from the forum has the chance to vote for the person they think has done the best transfer dealings and the person with the most votes could decide the next team.

This is a very basic idea so i thought i would let people give me feedback as their are a few flaws the main one being that people could cheat by either giving themselves a bigger transfer budget, or taking over another team to get them players easily. Also on most of my games the same teams go for the same players during the first transfer window so their may not be too much variety.

People have said before that there are not enough short term challenges in here and i think this could be a good one to do, feedback however will be much appreciated

I don't think there are enough short-term challenges and this is an excellent idea IMO, and I think you should try it

  6. With the FA Cup final coming up, had a bit of random musing...

If you know the history of it, in the early years, between 1872 and 1883 it was won by clubs who (to my knowledge) don't exist anymore. Wanderers FC (with 5 of the first 7) are probably most famous, then there's the likes of Royal Engineers, Blackburn Olympic, and so on. Blackburn Rovers won it in 1884, and it's been won by established clubs since then.

So, would there be any interest in 'resurrecting' these teams within the game, and embarking on some community project to bring the cup back to them? Would probably lend itself to a challenge best, I think, with the clubs starting out at the bottom of the pyramid.

It looks like the teams would have to be edited in (me and the editor don't mix though), and I'm unsure if there's any way to link them to the names which appear on the list of past winners of the FA Cup, to ensure you get the satisfying message that you've won it for the first time in 150-odd years when you eventually get there.

    So a few questions:

    1) Any real point? Is it distinct enough from dafuge's challenge, other than the names of the clubs involved?

    2) Any suggestions for how best to go about it?

    3) Anyone interested enough?

    1) I think that it is a great idea and is definately distinct enough as the objective is to win the FA Cup, not the Premier league. So, this challenge could even be completed when your in the BSN(not going to happen but is theoretically possible)

    2) I think that the challenge would be with Wanderers FC to win the FA Cup 5 times in 7 years. Not 7 years from the start but in a 7 year period.

    3) I would be interested in participating.

  7. I have created a manager sign-up because we have not had many this year.

If you want to sign-up, here is the link:

So, you think that you can do a better job?

The one thing that I would like some advise on is on how I will award bonuses (increased rep, PA etc.).

I am planning on giving them for matches managed, trophys won etc.

But, I would like some obscure unexpected bonuses that I could give but I can't think of any.

Can anyone help me with an idea here?

  8. CV, would it be where you had say 20 people and they each took turns in selecting the team and tactic for the game and then, after each week, one of the users would be voted off?

Problem is though, wouldn't the person who managed the first week get voted off because there was no one else to vote.

I am thinking of a Big Brother Type idea with however many housemates are in the show in it for a sign-up.

Does anyone know how many housemates there are in the show?

  9. his ones are the ones previously discussed about being 'fairly unrealistic' and not the sort that you meant.

No, you have got mixed up I think. I just looked and they are different.

WolvesBestEvaManager's are half-season challenges or less or more set on a certain thing.

The first short challenge is to get Chelsea the highest balance possible by the 30th of August.

Wheras the What If... challenge series is to do with what would have happened if Man U went bust or something.

  10. Pnefc, isn't that short challenges? If so, WolvesBestEvaManaga made one recently.

    Call me Rob

Yes, they are quite short challenges.

I haven't read his thread yet but will have a look now and then, come back and comment.

EDIT: Yes, his does look quite like what I was thinking of. I will see how his goes and participate probably. I will put this idea off then, if it is already being done
