  1. Is this compatible with FM18? Hoping to start on a 1997/98 database soon and this file could work for the Champions League and UEFA Cup formats
  2. I thought that, if it's ok with you. Will be doing it for FM18 though.
  3. Good stuff. Just wondering as I'm thinking of doing a 1997/98 retro database but would obviously like the actual kits and club logos from the time. But I'm nowhere near good enough to make them myself.
  4. Where did you get all the graphics done dude?
  5. This looks fantastic. I think I might have to re-download FM16 just to play it. Will be fun to Takeover my team Southend and see what I can do with them in Division 2. After hammering Newcastle 4-0 at home on New Year’s Day 1992 we sat top of Division 2. Unfortunately manager David Webb had a very public falling-out with chairman Vic Jobson later in January and announced his intention to walk away at the end of the season. The negativity flowed trough the team and we faded away to finish 10th. Many a Southend fan feels we’d have been possible founding members of the Premier League were it not for the drama behind-the-scenes. 2 questions I have from the screenshots. Firstly, are the stadium capacities all-seater or have you brought back standing for most of them, as was the case at the time? Second, have a look at Stan Collymore. I wouldn’t have him as even a starter at Palace. He floundered as a winger in their reserves. Wasn’t until Southend signed him before the 1992/93 season and converted him to a striker that he suddenly turned it on. Also, what safeguards have you put in place to protect against rapid inflation of transfer fees, wages and influx of overseas players into the English League? Since neither of these things really started to really happen for another 4+ years.
  6. Hi, Not sure if this is the right spot for this. Playing FMT 17 on my Surface Pro and want to download the new challenges. I have the money in my Steam wallet and I'm able to click on the new challenges and their prices to indicate that I want to buy them. It now says "item already in cart" where the challenge prices used to be, but I can't find a way to get into the cart to complete the purchase :-/ I can click on the Wallet tab which takes. me to the option to buy funds for my team but I don't want to do that, I just want to find a way to get to this cart that apparently exists and complete my challenge purchases!

  8. Realistically, is it possible to play FM on a 2-in-1? My laptop has battled on for 5 years but is coming to the end of its life - as someone who enjoys the full-depth career mode of FM more than touch (although I do play touch), and as someone who is also massively into Total Extreme Wrestling, I will of course be looking to replace it soon. However, I've been thinking about going for a 2-in-1.....I'd love to be able to play FM and TEW "on the go" a little bit more. Not that it's overly taxing with my laptop, but it's pretty bulky and awkward and not too easy to take around- a 2-in-1 would be so much easier to move around, to fit in my bag and to use on the train and whatnot. I know FM is resources-heavy but that is lessened with me as I don't use the 3D all-singing, all-dancing graphics in matches. So maybe a decent 2-in-1, if any meet the FM specs, would be the way forward. Anybody had any experience of playing FM on a 2-in-1 laptop/tablet and maybe able to advise?

I figure neither of the 2 games I've mentioned is particularly resources-heavy and I tend not to use the full graphics in matches on FM anyway. 10. Thanks for the interest guys. I won't lie, it'll be a slow progress project because I work and don't have too much time. But I'd rather that than rush it, and hopefully make a good and stable database which can then be used in fiture versions of the game too. I don't know how much any of you would like to help or how you'd like to divide the work up? I have downloaded DosBOX and CM 97/98 so that I can use the data editor to look up CAs, PAs, player and club reputations, wages and stadium capacities, etc. That + the internet gives lots of useful information. So I'd recommend that anyone who'd like to help download this. I'll start by re-arranging and re-naming the English divisions and I've started editing Arsenal. Once I've edited them I'll post a few screenshots for people to see and perhaps then we can start dividing up some work? I'm deleting any club/competition records that have been set since June 1997 (replacing them with older records IF I can find them), deleting any player/club/competition histories from 1997/98 onwards, and setting relevant players' and coaches' DOBs as 18 years later. I'm keeping any player aged 33 or older and sending him back to his first club, and then deleting pretty much any player under 33. I'd like to concentrate on sorting out divisions, clubs, deleting and re-creating players and their histories and then leave competition rules and continental/nation structures til last because I figure that mucking about with those is probably the thing that will make the database unstable. English divisions first, and then see how far people want to go with foreign/European clubs. The main thing there will be deleting as many well-known players of the present day as possible (unless they're old enough to have been around in 1997/98) because it will drive me mad if they pop up in the file......and then re-create/re-instate top players playing in Europe in 1997/98. I'm not begging for help, if I have to do it alone I'll give it my best shot but will be much quicker to create and release if there are a handful of interested people sending the file around between each other and working on it?
  11. With the Editor as powerful as it is these days, I think now would be a good time to think about a 1997/1998 database, which I've wanted to do for a while! This season and the one before it are the ones when I first really became clued-up on football - I went to watch my local team for the first time and was an avid collector of the Premier League 96 and 97 sticker collections 1997/1998 was a good season in England and there was a lot of good English talent in the Premier League. Unlike today, when I think England and English footballers are overrated and over-hyped, I actually think that in the run-up to World Cup '98 the England squad was extremely strong man-for-man. In Europe too, country's top divisions were closer in reputation and there wasn't QUITE as much money as there is now. It's an era that I'd like to re-create. I know the editor is powerful enough to re-create the Champions League as it was then (i.e. a smaller competition) but I don't have the expertise or time to do this, so I propose we leave it as it is but I'd have no problem with someone re-creating it in the 1997/1998 format if they think they can. I don't really have the time or the patience to do it on my own so I wondered if anybody would be interested in turning it into a sort of community project? I envisaged maybe 2-4 people working on each English division and, once we had those down, move onto some of Europe's top clubs and players(maybe not whole divisions if we can get away with it!) Just post below if yo're interested and maybe we can arrange something.
  12. Hi there. Anyone know approximately how much the average match day and season ticket cost in each English division in 1995/96 and 1997/98? If not, does anybody have a link to some data or an idea of where I can find some figures? Had a good search using Google, but all I ever get is articles and pages criticising today's match day and season ticket prices rather than anything which gives figures for past seasons!
  13. Entirely theoretical at the moment, but if I was to work on a database for either or both of these two seasons, I would of course work on club division swapping, kit colours, histories and records, players, attributes, etc. first. After that is done, the option is to leave competition structures as they are today or to try to restructure the Champions League, Auto Windscreens Shield and English Conference/Regional Prems so that they're like they were in those two seasons. I'm a stickler for realism so prefer the second option but is a total restructure of the English game and of the Champions League (which will involve messing with seedings and coefficiants!) too much effort?
