Im having no problems, im playing 3-4 nights a week with a friend of mine.
This works for us:
1. host starts the game, and loads the savegame
2. you select your friend (the host) on your list of friends in the xbox dashboard, click once so you get a new menu of actions.
3. select join game from the dashboard as this action should be available when your friend has started the network game.
4. if "join game" is not highlighted as white you can't join - then the host needs to restart the game and load the save once again
5. join as described above

I've just recorded some video footage of how this shows at my team at the moment.
All the players that i go through in the video, i have never signed, as i remember they suddenly appeared in the team out of nowhere as free agents.
I only signed one of them, as i thought this was a way to get rid of them by then selling him or letting him leave, but this wasn't solveable in any way.
As you see not all of them is duplicates, but some are, im not able to get rid of any of them, they have been sitting idle in the first team for years, and from time to time, i also have to respond to news reporters about them and their actions, quite weird.
NB. i had to upload video in to parts, as it was too big, just unpack together

I've just recorded what the problem is, but then i also found out that it is possible to actually mark more players, but still i think this has changed in the most recent patch, as this was my first time being able to actually add more than one player for the shortlist since the patch.
It seems you need to hold down the right mouse click much longer than before before activating the menu where you can add players to the shortlist, maybe this need's some tweaking, i think it was a lot better before, but now that i know how to resolve this, it's not urgent for me anymore

I've just recorded what my scout task looks like, as described above, when i clear it as shown in the video, all tasks appears out of nowhere again after a few days.
When all tasks is blanked, and i make new tasks as to scout, leagues, nations etc. this is just overwritten by a load of players that i have been scouting through out the last couple of years.
This scenario is ongoing, if i dont erase the tasks, my inbox is filled with new scout reports about players i've already scouted.

Im playing a network game with a friend, and we are in our 9th season
Host is Xbox Series X, we started in German bundesliga 2, leagues selected: Germany, Spain, Italy, Holland, France
Im not sure when this error started, but it has most probably been there for the last 4-5 seasons.
At first i started taking notice, that when i selected a player i wanted to be scouted, it would take some time before any scout would start a task looking at him.
Now it has come to the point where it's a mess, as it seems every player i have ever scouted repeately is being scouted like it's and endless loop of scouting.
So in our last game (last night) i tried to stop all tasks for the scouts, this takes some time, as they are filled with players to scout, but i cleared that so they had no tasks.
Then a couple of days go, and suddenly i recieve new mails about scouting being started on several players i already have been scouting for the last couple of years.
I went back to the scouting task screen, and the scout tasks have somehow been filled with all the players i've just erased from their jobs.
So I did this rince and repeat for 5 times, hoping it to end at some point, which it never did.
I then replaced my head of scouting with another one, hoping this was the magic trick.
After the new head scout had arrived, all scouts was at it again, starting all over with every player i had ever been scouting it seems.
Anyone else experiencing this too?
Would love to see this error chased down, it really is an annoying error
I forgot to record any image or video of this but will try to remember when we continue our game, will update in this thread.

Hi @Michael Mallia thanks for your response.
I have only played my version of FM2021 (Xbox) online with some friends, and this is an ongoing game currently in season 9
Host is playing on Xbox Series X, i would love to get information on how to retrieve the savegame as we also has that other problem with Youngsters appearing in our squads eventhough they are not part of our club, i've mentioned that in another thread.
As we will continue our FM2021 save tonight i will try and capture some footage or video of the problem, i will keep you updated

@Michael Malliathanks for updating me on the matter, that's allright - i know something like this will be hard to track down as you need to replicate it yourself, thanks for sticking to it! - FM2021 is truly a gem, eventhough there is some bugs here and there
Let me know if you need additional information, as we're progressing in the game... it seems as when this occurs, those players will forever be stuck in your first team, without any possibility to remove them, sometimes you even has to respond to media about what they are up to, really weird.

I love the work and continous updates to the game you guys push out!
I've just encountered what i think is a new change since the most recent patch update.
Once youth's appear in my own club i create a new shortlist for the youth of that year, and go to the global "transfers" and select the option to see all youth income in all clubs around the world.
I use to mark a lot of youths here, and add them all to my new shortlist, but for some unknown reason this is not possible anymore - if i try, the selection dissapears and i can only add the one player that im currently standing on, where i clicked for the "add to shortlist".
Is this on purpose? i hope not - please look into it, would love to see that re-appear in the game again, thanks

Im having this issue too, playing an online career with 2 friends, im the only one in the game to have some free agents in the first team, some of them is duplicated, and im not able to get rid of them, and i can't send them to the 2.nd team, as they have no contract.
I have tried to get one of them a contract and then releasing him from that contract, but nothing happened, and they are all still in the first team.
Our setup is:
Host: xbox one series x
5 leagues selected, England, Holland, Italy, Spain, Germany, and we selected to start in the 2.bundesliga
I got promotion in the first season, leaving the other 2 clubs in the 2.bundesliga, in second season one of the other teams stopped playing, and has been on holiday ever since, the other team won promotion in the second season and has since played in the bundesliga together with me.
Im not 100% sure when the problem started occuring, as looking at one of the players history it seems he was attatched to my 2.team first, so maybe i first recognised him in my 1.team in the 2023/24 season
At first the players was not duplicated, this happened over time, and im not sure too when this has happened as im not scolling to the bottom of my squad that often as i know the players in the bottom is these players which is not needed.

this is a known issue
to join, you need to go to the dashboard, click on your friends profile (host), and under the same tab as you will see option to join his party, you should be able to join game, if not - your friend needs to save the game and restart the savegame, then try again.

yes exactly - there is a lot of apps for sim racing that does this.
most of them are capable of showing qualification times and a leaderboard for that, while doing qualification, also you can use it as a "real" looking dashboard instrument with a lot of information too...

i just thought it could be cool if footballmanager could do something similar, it's really only needed that they do a UDP stream packet with information from a match or anything else, then make some documentation of how to parse this stuff into useable data, and some skilled people will most def. build stunning apps for this, like in the sim world

I've had troubles joining my friends online network game too, especially via the ingame network game browser, this will not show my friends game eventhough it should.
What typically works is click on your friends xbox profile in the xbox dashboard, and in the same menu where you would join his "party" you should be able to "join game", if not - he needs to save the game and restart it, then it should work.

Im in my second season in a german adventure. My career started in 2.bundesliga with Hamburger SV. I promoted to 1.Bundesliga, and then in the holiday season i hired a new chief scout.
After this incident, the assistent manager keeps trying to hire youth coaches for the club eventhough, the settings for handling this is set to be handled by the manager.
I think i have cancelled way more than 10 instances of this, and it just seems to continue?
At the moment of writing this i have played 5 matches in 1.bundesliga, and the date is around 1.october 2021
Also the assistent manager planned a lot of extra friendlies in the weeks up to the second season start, eventhough there was already planned a lot of friendly fixtures, i've had to cancel 6-8 matches, eventhough the settings for this is set to be handled by the manager.
The game im playing is a network game with 1 other club, we are playing 5 leagues -> germany, england, holland, spain, italy
The host is playing on xbox series x

good idea, using tablets and such have been done in a lot in SIM race games using UDP stream (wifi) to send packets to another device to display ingame stats etc.

I have a network game with 1 of my friends and we have played ½ a season now, but also seen this problem occur
We have been narrowing it down to the following, which tends to solve the problem:
The first player to hit continue first is the one to do the following (when progress bar is stalled):
Clik down on mousewheel once, then use the controller and push left trigger first, and then right trigger... then the game should continue...

I have continously been playing a network game with a friend of mine for the last 3 months, and we stuggled a bit in the beginning with joining the network game, but then we found our own way of joining the game, and it has been working 100%, just follow these steps:
1. host starts the game, and loads the savegame
