  1. When starting a new game under the advanced set up option, is there a way to save your preferences so you don't have to choose which leagues etc you want every time? Previous versions have just automatically remembered
  2. Blimey, I feel like I should go as Yeovil and roll back to the good times haha! I've just started now mate, had plans all that time ago but my laptop has been a mess, seem to have it fxed so can get started now.. got a team in mind...might reveal all in my next post
  3. Evening, Wonder if someone can help. FM15, no problems, FM16....hardly seems to want to run on my laptop. Its slow and sluggish and really seems to be taking forveer to load, move between days on the game and the matches are horific to watch. My spec is processor Intel ® Celeron ® CPU n2830 @ 2.16 GHz RAM 4GB 64 bit operating system Windows 8.1 Any ideas?
  4. Great update there Jogo and good to see you back. Not ideal results perhaps but I am sure you will turn it round once the team get used to your tactics and methods
  5. Cheers mate Ive had a look through all of l2 and none of them are inspiring me so think it will have to be L1. Lower end, proabably whoever is in the relegation zone when it loads up.
  6. I've actually got no clue who to pick so I'm going to load the game up to start in December and decide from there. Whoever is not having a good season I'll take a punt at I think
  7. Probably be Oxford then mate, don't want it too easy and they are 7m in debt! SO your staying as them, or switching to another team now?
  8. Did you just have a conversation with yourself haha! York is a no go I looked at them before. I think its a battle of the Universities, Oxford or Cambridge, just can't decide which
  9. I don't have a clue I usually go for someone expected to be to bottom end, not much of a budget, something I can grow into a 3 or 4 year save.
  10. I'm just using your speil at the top to make my decision for who to go as. Edging towards L2, thinking Accrington but then Cambrige keep jumping out at me... Thoughts anyone?
  11. I'll be back soon mate. Got the game yesterday just figuring out who to be!
  12. Some good updates there guys, NF hope you get back into it. Never the mind of offer for Assistant Manager though, I need a head scout, I pay well and hopefully you will actually be contactable, as my scout seems to have gone AWOL...I'm not kidding! Just starting September so thought I would fire a brief update. In the league we are doing well, sitting top with 11 points after 5 games, it's pleasing but draws against Rochdale and Crawley were dissapointing and really we should have won. In the league cup, a 4-1 home win against Wigan has got us through to the third round were we will face Blackburn. Could be another good chance to knock out a team that's top of the league. Transfer wise, I have taken the decision to pay the 120k (agreed fee) to Swansea and sign Rory Donnelly. He has been brilliant in every game and I didn't want to risk a bigger team coming in for him in January or at the end of the season and me missing out. His low wages and lack of an agent made it a quite cheap deal over all. Also incomng is Paulo Gazziniga, released by Southampton so a free transfer, he has joined on a 1 year deal and will give us some competition for places in goal. The reason why I mentioned about my scout is because since I sold my previous back up keeper Stuckman to Oldham (who apparently was home sick and wanted to go to Germany!), I asked my scout to find me a replacement goalkeeper. Nearly 2 months later and he has found no one at all, not even some useless reserve player or dodgy Italian like the scouts normally find, not a single person. Anyway, going well, gonna crack on and maybe post again later.
  13. Thanks Jogo, enjoying this so far. I've managed to bring a certain David Beckham back to the club as under 18's couch, as well as promoting david Kelly to be my assistant manager. Another win, this time 3-0 at home to Accrington (sorry NF). Donnelly has 4 in 2 games, Robertson has 2 in 2 and 3 assists, they look brilliant and Garner isn't even fit and playing yet!
  14. After reading a few posts and taking advice (Thanks Jogo) I have decided right now I am probably looking for a 3/4 years save, so I didn't want to start in L2, or the bottom of L1, I really wanted to be a team I could maybe do something with, build up and possibly take up the leagues. So as per the previous post I've decided to start as Preston. Expected to be in around the play offs/promotion scene and can possibly build into a decent championship club and then go from there (hopefully!). Anyway here is my quick evaluation: Club It's not bad, the stadium is good and the training facilities aren't a disaster, however the 13m debt/loan against the club means that my estimated end of season balance is -2.5m, not great at all. In my opinion the staff aren't bad but some of them, and some of the players, are being overpaid and aren't needed. A lack of affiliate club wasn't helping income, so I have added Chelsea, making us a nice 100k per year and the option to bring in a number of their quality youth players. The Squad As per the above, it's a large squad made up of youth, experience and journeyman looking to finally find a home. Garner is clearly the outstanding quality and Kevin Davies adds a lot of higher league knowledge, whilst a magnitude of midfields and wing backs make is almost impossible to read anything else on the screen!! Whats been done so far Not a great deal, the squad has been cut down and the deadwood let go, whilst we have added some quality, including an ex champions league winner. With the window still open their could and probably will be more in/outs, but for now this is how it looks: First of all the outs, Jack King left to join Charton (350k) and Chris Humphrey to Fulham (1.1m) are the noticeable ones, whilst Lee Holmes left for Rochdale for a tidy 200k. A few other loans/free's but nothing of great note. Incoming, the obvious place to start is that Champions League winner, Pable Aimar, ex Valencia midfielder has joined us on just 3.5k per week. I think his flare and class will be massive in terms of unlocking team, especially away from home, however at the grand old age of 35 he will have to be used cleverly. Also joining are Rory Donnelly from Swansea on loan, with them covering all of his wages. I do have the option to sign him for 120k at any stage. Lewis Baker also joined from Chelsea as part of our new agreement with them. Finally incoming is Jordan Robertson, the man who seems to have played for about 30 clubs already and he is only 26!. He signed on a free and looks to have the right attributes to do something in this division. This brings me nicely on my first game away from home against fellow promotion hopefulls Sheffield United Obviously I was expected a tight game, but goals from Donnelly and Robertson inside 6 minutes put us on the front foot, and with Aimar ripping holes in their defence, they finally lost their cool and had their captain sent off and all 4 midfielders booked after only 25 minutes! we ran in another 3 goals, including Neil Kilkenny scoring a thunder bolt from 35 yards, to win our first game of the season 5-0!!! A huge win and it gives us massive hope going forward. The other way of looking at it was that they had an off day, they lost their rag with Aimar and Baker and could of had 8 men by the end of the game. Their goalkeeper also trying to constantly play out from the back was interesting as our high pressing game meant we scored 2 from closng the centre back down quickly. Anyway, loving it so far, onwards and upwards!
  15. @NF, cracking save there mate. Shame about getting the sack at Accrington but it actually looks like it might work out better for you long term! As other have said, your football is certainly entertaining, maybe your the new Kevin Keegan?
  16. @ NF - not sure about the late goals mate, if the team talks aren't working you can only chage the tactics and get everyone behind the ball but i'll I will asume you do that anyway? Out of interest, it is always a corner, or a long ball or something causing you a problem? Is there a pattern in terms of the goals you are conceading? @Jogo - me neither mate, very poor as I was enjoying the save. Now got a choice of a few clubs and I would appreciate some suggestings, My choice at the moment is Preston. I want a team that I can do something with, they have got some facilities in place and a few decent players. Maybe go up first season and take it from there if possible. However, I don't want it easy, but I figure in League One there is about 5 teams that are all equal. Other options is someone like a Crewe and go for a long game, proper small club/stadium etc. Any thoughts or ideas as to who I can go? Defo wont be leaving this thread now mate.
  17. Sorry but anger got the better of me! I decided to give it one final push, and to keep with realism to approach the board and seek some clarification in terms of the club and how it's progressing. I requested an increase in the transfer and/or wage budgte which the club refused as it was already 'at an extremely high level'. The wages were 12k per week below the budget initially set, but the most any player was on was 11k, less than some league 1 teams were playing. I got into an argument in the hope it would do me soon good, but was told to back down or clear my desk. As I was clearing my desk, up pops a message... Their is a transfer embargo now in place due to a possible takeover. So I had a choice, carry on with what I have and try and get to January or forget it, I've chose the second option. Sorry but this save had lost any magic, any spark and the club was a total mess. Don't get me wrong I love a challenge, but the complete lack of ambition by the board together with their handling finances was appalling. Time for something new and I think I already have the answer...
  18. Just to add to this by the way, this sums up how it's gone, Wanted Dann from Blackburn for 3m, I make a bid and my max wage is 12k, well he was being paid 18k anyway, in come Derby and they sign him and give him 28k per week. I made a loan bid for Libor Kozak, didn't want to come, Tyler Blacket from Man UTD reject a free transfer and went to Gillingham instead, Ben Amos, Darren Fletcher dd the same. Bristol City have made late bids for 2 foreign players I wanted and nicked them from me, even Benik Afobe went to Barnsley!! Honestly I have never found it so tough to get a single deal over the line, ny on impossible at the moment.
  19. I think this game has got about 2 days left in it before I either et A sacked or B quit and start as someone else. This is a perfect example of going up too early. I've basically built a team of free agents and loans or the people no one else wants, see Brad Jones, Andy Wilkinson (stoke) and Sam Vokes (Burnley). I am going to try and keep going, but I can see me starting again as a League One team shortly as I enjoy the lower leagues more and can at least build a club.
  20. Ok so this is a absolute disaster so far, I can't sign anyone decent at the moment, the money just isn't there and the squad isn't good enough, even Dan Gosling is going to have to stay, and he's awful!
  21. The retiring owner, the over priced winger and a crop of cheap youngsters. Where to start?? Firstly, following my last post, I have pulled off one of the best sales on FM for me ever I think. Junior Stanislas, Mr I hardly ever play and when I do I play badly, had the cheak to ask for a new contract which I refused. He requested to leave so I listed him, at this point discovering his was now worth 6.75m!!!! I set a price of 7m and low and behold Derby have only gone and paid it, and put him on 22k per week!! They must be mental. Now finances wise we have a bit more to play with but I have only managed two signings so far, Alex Pritchard from Tottenham for 400k and Josh Sims from Southampton for 60k. Both youngsters, both maybe for the future, but also both bargains with resale prices that would make us money. Talking of money, my owner, Maxim Deman, has announced he is retiring at the end of the season, does the club now therefore have to be sold or what? Anyone seen this before?
  22. Right guys I could do some with some advice. As you know I'm promoted, champions with Derby and Norwich going up too. First of all the problems The board have given me around 15m to spend and slightly increased the wage budget. Some players like Wilson etc aren't on big money and are hovering for a wage rise so realistically about 5-6 players could get an extra few thousand per week if not more. Also our stadium doesn't xomply with premier league rules, therefore it needs increasing and about 6m is going to spent on that and the training facilities. Realistically I probbaly have about 10m to spend if I don't want to damage the club finances which doesn't give us a lot to play with. I've not got a lot to sell either so it won't increase Would you guys, A spend money on youth, the odd proven player and build a team that might go down but will be stronger for it and can develop over time Or B Spend say 3 m on 3 players and try and do a burnley, keep the core of this team, add only a few players and see if this bunch are good enough? I can get the likes of Luke Garbutt, Alex Pritchard and a few others who are youth but potential prem players all quite cheap, but they won't keep me up?! Aghhhh
