Just a quick question for everyone that managed in England and doing this challenge. Don't your seasons take long ? I'm enjoying my save in Iceland and the league is really fast (but 4 months between the seasons doing.. nothing is not enjoyable ). i'm going to continue at the moment in Iceland but isn't the league in England (fa cup and Fa trophy adding a lot more games) very long ? 46 games , a lot of cup games.. if i play all those games myself( no instant result) it would take me two weeks i'm afraid.

Yea it definitely takes a long time for some of those English seasons. In the past I have definitely preferred doing the challenge in leagues with shorter schedules like you in Iceland.

  2. SANREMESE CALCIO SEASON REVIEW 2021-2022

    Expected Finish - 20th

    Final Position - 12th

Wow what a whirlwhind of a first season in Italy. Italian-American manager Vincenzo Sabbiadini went into Serie C with his trusty right hand man, former USA/Fulham Hero Brian Mcbride, and things exploded. We set a record for goals scored in the league with 90, on the back of league top scorer Giacomo Romano, who scored 32 goals in 38 games. Unfortunately, we also set a record for goals conceded with 98!!! Our defense was absolutely helpless.

Our youth intake was touted as a Golden Generation, and we have some good personalities overall. Unfortunately, the quality of the players doesn't look great.

Probably the pick of the bunch was central midfielder Chervyakov, who I could see getting some important minutes. Unfortunately no great defenders or goalkeepers, which is what we need most!

Goal for next season is to once again shoot for mid-table and hopefully concede less goals than I score! Romano has one year left on his contract so its going to be imperative to extend him.

Hi guys. Have any of you noticed that you are not getting a full squad of players with newly promoted teams even with the 'generate players for playable teams' option ticked?

    [Edit]

I've just seen from the opening post that you dont actually have that option ticked in your games. Maybe its counter-productive and that's where I'm going wrong

You can add players from the league that will promote to your bottom division under the advanced setup options. Its recommended in the OP.

  4. Welp here we go!

Giving this a shot after a few unsuccessful career attempts in Greece and Israel in FM 20.

Let me introduce to you VIncenzo Sabbiadini. Born in Boston, MA to Italian parents, he was inspired to love football watching Italy at the 1994 World Cup at Foxboro Stadium in the US. After success at the youth levels (managing his nephew's under 9's team) in the US, he was called up by his uncle "Vinny" to manage newly promoted Sanremese Calcio in Serie C after an unexpected promotion. Armed with some slick suits, lots of hair gel, and some killer shoes, he headed off to Italy to fulfill his destiny. Now, if only he actually spoke Itallian...

Entering the final parts of the season now, and I think I've played all matches against TNS that I possibly can this season, and we are REALLY equal...

No match have ended outside a draw, and 3 times we have had pens to separate us in various cups. Madness. And in case anyone is wondering, this is the historical head-to-head table.

    Oh, and...

17-0!!! What kind of stats does Anthony Williams have?

IRONI TIBERIAS FC (ISRAELI NATIONAL DIVISION) 2020-2021

First year playing in the new save and new league. Inherited quite a good squad overall, though lacking in depth on the wings. I adapted a 3-5-2 formation and it worked wonders in the 2nd tier of Israeli football. We surpassed all expectations and got promoted at the first shot. Youth intake was overall pretty barren, but I did inherit a few promising wingers which I desperately needed going forward.

    Final Table:

Our top player: 37 year old Shalom Akiva. Unfortunately I could not persuade him to stay along for another year, as he was clearly above the level of the 2nd tier.

And a preview of life in the top division....obviously things have NOT been going well and I think I might be lucky to survive my job if we drop.

    Aigaleo Season 2021-2022 and 2022-2023

Unfortunately things did not end up going well in my save in Greece. We were promoted to the Super League at the end of the first season, probably prematurely. We struggle mightily in the top flight, and had no way of competing with teams spending tens of millions on transfers. Our first season in the top flight ended up with us playing in, and winning the relegation playoff. Our second season ended up only slightly better, with us avoiding relegation outright. Unfortunately, my board made a very weird decision and sacked me at the end of the season despite me fulfilling our objectives! I played tons of youth team members throughout the season, including my starting goalkeeper! This must be a bug of some sort. Nonetheless, here ends my adventure in Greece.

    Aigaleo FC - Season 2020-2021

My first season of the challenge is complete! I inherited quite a good squad overall, in fact one of the best in the division! Unfortunately many of my key players are over 30 years old and heading towards the twilight of their careers, so...good thing this is a youth challenge!  I inherited computer generated youth players (labelled YPOxxx), and a few of them even featured in the first team. The most promising youngsters are a right back Stathis Pitsinos and a forward Panagiotis Kalamakis

The season started brightly with us taking an early lead in the table. As the season went on, we started to fall apart a bit and fell back into the pack. The Greek Leagues play a split season - you play 22 games a full league, then split into a top half and bottom half battling for promotion or relegation. We ended up 3rd in the first half of the season. We started the champions group in poor form, but had a late surge and  ended up in second place! This qualified us for a playoff against the second worst team from the Greek Super League, which we easily won. Ironically, they were much easier opponents then our opponents in the champion group.

The youngsters who were involved acquitted themselves well. In addition, our U19 won their league! Our player of the season was a 34 year old center back, Gotovos. We were able to re-sign the majority of our ageing squad for next year, and hope to fight hard against relegation. If we do somehow survive, ongoing survival is going to be tougher each year. Our first youth intake was pretty dire. Lots of poor personalities and no great outfield prospects. Our two highest rated prospects were both goalkeepers; not glamorous, but we do have a 34 year old first choice keeper who will soon need to be replaced I expect.
